I think the single biggest problem with the casual Smash fandom is how it demonises disappointment.

I find the Buddy Bear characters in Garfield & Friends really interesting. Through a modern lens it's really easy to misinterpret them as right-wing commentary about "SJW censorship", but they are absolutely not meant to be political in any form - they're moreso a satire of children's authority figures and how they only create more misery in their futile attempts to prevent conflict. Children needing the right to acknowledge negative emotions and disagree with authority or the crowd is a really good message that you rarely see discussed anywhere, and it's a shame some people have chosen to insert their political biases into it.
Can you buy Dearly Beloved (Swing) without Sora? Because it's a jam I want on Living Room ASAP.
The Muppets would simultaniously be both the most and least fitting Disney IP to put in Kingdom Hearts. On one hand, the friendship themes of Kingdom Hearts line up pretty well with the actors troupe aesthetic of the Muppets (Kermit's famous quote from the '79 Muppet Movie sounds like something out of KH even), but on the other hand... it's the Muppets.
I really love the original Kingdom Hearts box art - I'm a sucker for nighttime cityscapes for one, but I also absolutely adore the way it shows off Donald and Goofy with neither shame nor pride, like they're just another part of the universe.

Going back to Ultimate after so much Nick Brawl is gonna be hard - not impossible though, I could get back into Ultimate after playing Rivals for example, and switching to tap jump in Ultimate was relatively painless. Just need those 5 or so minutes in training to adjust.
Now I think about it... the small version of Mario would make for a really cool clone, basically the exact inverse of Dr. Mario

If Nintendo introduced a Warupichi and she ended up being some conventionally attractive Catwoman-Bowsette femme fetale instead of a feral trash goblin like she should be, that would be more upsetting than Byleth; the Waluigi AT; Corrin; Bayonetta; and Pythra's Smash reveals combined.
My ideal Smash reveal would probably go something like

I don't think that rumoured-to-be-cancelled Nicktoons crossover movie would've worked - but a crossover of the superhero parody mascots from within Nick's shows (Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy, Powdered Toast Man, Ultra Lord, Manarctica, Crimson Chin, Really Really Big Man, maybe even Reptar) would be some great campy fun. The rare sort of cartoon adaptation I think would be better in live action too.
Intentionally or not, Nintendo making the character who's main if not only personality trait is liking their earlier games the worst character to play as is VERY on brand.
When I was a kid, I thought the Piranha Plant Pipeway track in Mario Kart 7 was really cool because it was a multiplayer game level that looked like something from the platformer series.

The atmosphere of the early WarioWares (up to Smooth Moves about) is underappreciated. They're to city life what Donkey Kong Country 1&2 are to nature - especially Mega Microgames.

Those TTS SpongeBob videos are actually getting absurd now - how do the people who make these video keep finding foreign words that sound vaguely like "sus" or "penis"? Surely if you put "sus" into Google Translate detect-to-English it'll only show one recommended language... right?

Dr. Mario was chosen for Melee just because Sakurai liked his music.
If he kept this selection process up today, we would've got Voodoo Vince instead of Banjo or Steve.
Whether that's good or bad is up to you.
I do legit think it's kinda insulting to have a Balloon Fight stage in "celebration of gaming"-era Smash without as much as a mention of Joust.
I love how Nick Brawl has a bunch of different takes for every announcer call that it randomises between.
While not likely (as far as "likely" exists in this discussion) by any means, I think if any Nick Jr. character is to appear in NASB, it should be Robbie Rotten.
He's probably the only live action Nick character, Jr. or main, with no risk of controversy; would go down well thanks to his meme status; and wouldn't create any brand image conflicts on virtue of being a villain in a show that hasn't reran in years.
I should note LazyTown is currently owned by Time Warner so even if Ludosity had the points I'm thinking of in mind and Nickelodeon agreed to let Robbie in I doubt he'd have a shot.
I don't know if "filmed on a potato" originates from potato clock experiments or just random humour.
If I were Sakurai, I would not have been able to keep in my ****post urges, I would've cancelled the Sora deal mid-way to get Kermit, Mike Wazowski, or Homer instead, possibly ruining Smash forever in the eyes of many.
It might just be the algorithm, but I've been seeing just as much NASB content as Sora content on YT
This isn't just a good sign for Nick, it's a good sign for platform fighting as a genre.
If you ever need to anthropomorphise me, just draw Wario (preferably biker) with three vertically stacked faces. Not heads, 3 faces on a single long head.

Honestly I think Smash is the sort of game that having a story mode and lore is actively detrimental to. All these characters have different genres, tones, target audiences, fanbases, so on - it is impossible to incorporate even a fraction of them into a single cohesive narriative without either stripping them down to archetypes or making a cluttered story.
I would love to see more character interactions within Smash, but a story mode is not how you do it. Win quotes have always been my prefered approach, but most of these characters are silent so that could be for naught.
The roster curation thread really loses its fun when people make huge rosters you only have to remove 5 or 7 characters from.

r/Mario has some really good fanart and projects, but god damn are its users unfunny and misinformed about everything.
A lot of the music in Nick Brawl, especially the generic and Turtles tracks, gives me somewhat of a sleek Amiga-ey vibe, not sure if it's right for a game like this but I love that cool but atmospheric feel. Like stepping into an alternate reality as fun as it is dangerous.
I think I'm in more anticipation over whether the Infinite thread will allow the DuckTales Moon theme after Sora's reveal than I was over Sora's actual reveal.
This sounds like the most "preschool cartoon villain" thing to say, but I've always found hearts and yellow smiley faces unappealing, especially when put on a character design or logo.
