Honestly I don't think Infinite's content cap is as unrealistic as people say - Smash is an AAA franchise at this point, getting the budget for something as big as Infinite, while still very hard, would be far from impossible - especially if it were built directly off of Ultimate. It's unrealistic, sure, but not ludicruous I feel.

I think not using Side Bs in Nick Brawl was a smart move - it makes the gameplay that slightest bit less centred around specials and will encourage casual players to learn how to use lights and strongs. The lack of fairs (and to a lesser extent bairs - air-turning erases the need really, but they could lead to strafe button monkeyshines) is a little questionable though

Honestly, I feel Sakurai's comment about unfamiliarity may signify a new Pokémon? Perhaps a Legends Arceus Pokémon getting the Roy treatment?

Otherwise, perhaps a character with a lot of history behind them, but has fallen off the map in recent years whether with fandom or new releases?

Hell, it could be that niche first party retro we've been missing - man if Muddy Mole ended SSBU that'd be absolutely awful for everyone except me.

I don't like Metroidvanias (including -lites) at all, but I love when linear platformers incorporate extremely light Metroidvania elements. Drill Dozer and Wario Land 4 are two of my favourite games of all time and they're as backtracky as you could possibly get without veering into Metroidvania territory.

I've never really cared for Avatar so maybe I'm not the highest authority on this, but I really like the choice for Aang to only use air moves in NASB. I've always enjoyed focused fighters who take one concept and use it to the fullest potential - in this case "staff and air".

I remember that around the time the Bubsy reboot came out, someone on a Discord server I was on was working on a Ballz 3D reboot to pitch to Billionsoft.

If that game ever comes to be and there's a quadrupedal fighter (a feline specifically) in it, just know that was my idea.

And if the guy who's working on this is reading it... (or even still working on it, it's been a long time since I heard anything about it and I lost ties to that server years ago) on the house, seeing a concept of mine in motion is all the payment I need.

Honestly I'd rather have a Diddy Kong Racing Smash fighter over a "Mario Kart rider" fighter. Every Mario Kart character sans two of the babies exists in other forms outside of Mario Kart so basing them entirely on that one series feels like a waste, while DKR's roster is famously filled with mostly original characters.

Also, if Nintendo's gonna license out another company's character from their series, a DKR character will have larger brand recognition and a less stingy owner than the puppet.

To add salt to the wound, the prize pool ($5000 according to one of the invited players on the NASB Discord, higher than all except one Nintendo prize pool to my knowledge - the 1990 Nintendo World Championships, which provided $10'000) was provided by GameMill. The Big Rigs guys.

It's likely a coincidence but I kinda feel Piranha Plant getting in Smash started a sort of ripple effect that has lead to multiplayer games using preexisting casts (especially of the Scrimblo variety) being more risky and obscure with character rosters.
