I actually really like what I've seen from Arzette so far beyond the novelty factor - it feels like they very carefully chose which flaws are endearing and which flaws are detrimental (notice how you can actually tell which parts of the stages are tangible), and didn't completely forget that the CDi games did have redeeming qualities.

I find the inclusions of Shredder and April specifically in NASB really funny for some reason - I can't put my finger on it, I don't think they're bad picks; I'm used to TMNT being a Nick brand; Shredder's battle abilities here are some of the tamest he's ever had; and I don't find the other two turtles' exclusion particularly funny, but there's something kinda humourous about seeing these two characters specifically stand next to Nicktoon C-listers like Jenny and Oblina that I don't really get from the main turtles and Garfield.

I really don't want to get into the whole "Dreamworks Good Disney Bad" discourse, both can make good movies, a lot of these comparisons are nonsensical, and a fair few of the people peddling this have real bad motives, but at the same time I will say...

The Bad Guys handled themes of implicit bias way better than Zootopia did.

So, I've made it clear previously that this movie gives me weird accidentally-racist Angry Birds vibes... I just watched a review and... oh my god... how did this script get approved??????? Like, I was not only hoping but also expecting that they just Kangaroo Jacked the trailers to play off of the recent "Disney Bad Dreamworks Good" discourse and Little Mermaid remake backlash, but nope, literally just a movie about a good sapient species and a bad sapient species, and the crazy grandma is the "harbor of truth" (NPI) too. Great message for the kiddies.

There's a really annoying attitude I see a lot to game preservation where people are like "well, the IMPORTANT games are avaliable legally, so what's the issue?". Yeah, no, Final Fantasy 7 isn't any more worth preserving than Awesome Possum. There's more use to a game than playing it, and while some games obviously have had more impact on the wider industry, every game ever made is part of their own small micro-history and can illustrate some kind of moment in time or have some kind of small factor worth enjoying or learning from.

I'm thinking of banning the standard content ratio from DriDim. It just feels lazy to say "standard content ratio" and be done with your franchise submission, and Pizza Tower - a game famous for it's fast paced levels - recieving only 2 tracks was the last straw I feel.

While I personally think character unlocks in fighting games (or any other game with non-cosmetic characters) should be a thing of the past, I do think that platform fighters specifically could still utilize unlockables by having all the content competitive players would want by default (every character, all the Battlefield/Smashvilley stages, a few more Yoshi's Story/Dream Landy stages, the primary alt costumes, the more basic items and alt modes) and then allowing players to unlock either casual or cosmetic content (the Templey and Pac-Landish stages, certain items, special mode options, a few extra alt costumes)

I've come up with a really fun mode for Smash Remix: Jiggly Smashketball

Set stock to 3
Turn off the Super Star item (and any other items you may want to turn off)
Put both players on a team together with team attack off
Set red team to either Polygon Jigglypuff or skeletal Kirby at level 1 (or an indle controller)
Turn off hazards for stages (movement can stay on)
See who gets the most KO points at the end of the match on the stats screen

Unfortunately you can't use the Smashketball stage for it (at least not as intended), but still.
