  • I keep on forgetting FromSoftware makes Sekiro. Part of it is that people just don’t talk about the game anymore, but also because dark souls and bloodborne are both talked about so much and have had such a cultural impact. Feels like sekiro just isn’t part of the conversation when people discuss those games
I do like the idea of adding non-main characters before the main character of a series gets in smash, but the idea of adding a monster from resident evil before the main character is so weird to me, and I think it really just wouldn’t represent the series well.

Really, the only series I can see an enemy getting in before a main character is dragon quest, where that didn’t happen, and maybe pyramid head from silent hill. There might be some others I’m forgetting about though.
I feel like a lot of those "redditor minecraft fans" that hate fortnite have a genuine victim complex. They all seem so anxious about Fortnite replacing their game, and their childhood game being forgtten, even if that's a dumb way of thinking
You have 45 dollars, what are you buying?

So after Apple said they will scan phones for child abuse, a whole bunch of people got this false impression that there will literally be a guy searching through your phone. That’s not true and is a dangerous misconception. They use an AI to scan through your phones and report any images that are already recognized as child abuse by the fbi.

also sidenote, I really hope they scan through images people have deleted because if they don’t, and then they just announce it, it’ll give time for anyone to delete any photos they have. That would be ****ing stupid on apple’s part if that happened.
I’m sure sakurai doesn’t actually have a problem with people making memes about him, just when those memes are trying to make a point he might not necessarily agree with.
I remember when I was a kid I read this book called the genius files which was a pretty standard “spy kids-like” story and they also went on a roadtrip across america which was pretty interesting.
My main takeaway was the fact that there’s a big plot twist where it turns out that the main antagonist and the guy who made the spy kids program did so because he witnessed the 9/11 attacks. Yeah, that’s a dark thing to put in a book for ages 9-12
My favorite DC superhero, and one of my favourite superheroes has always been Superman. Some part of that admiration might be nostalgia, sure, but I’ve always liked how he’s simply a genuinely really nice and caring person despite how almost inhumanly powerful he is. Especially when there’s so many superheroes who are portrayed as edgy and morally grey. There are a lot of other things I like about him as well.

Superman is probably one of the fictional characters who has shaped who I am the most ever since I was a kid.

I once saw one of the Christopher Reeves movies on TV when I was 7, and after doing so I asked my mother for the other movies. And that Christmas I got a Collector's box which had all the movies and the extended cuts of Superman 1 and 2 (alongside some comics).
There was something with the character which just clicked on me: his good will coming off just naturally, the fact he just wishes the best on everyone and even on his enemies (be It by hoping they improve themself or other stuff), the way he would always remind people of safety meassures every time he got to rescue them... Idk, I just felt that he was the kind of person I wanted to be when I grew up.

And yeah, seeing nowadays how DC and Amazon (the latter with the Boys and Invincible) are trying to sell this idea of Superman-like characters always having to be evil and do messed up stuff does feel quite dissapointing for me.
Because I do feel that right now the world needs more people who could learn something from how the classic Superman was. They basically need hope and enough good will to consider that maybe if each one of us did take our part... Maybe things would indeed be better for everyone around us.

Sorry for the long post but yeah... Superman as a character did leave a big impact on me.

One complaint I hear about Superman that I don’t agree with, I’d that he isn’t relatable. Like sure, none of us have laser vision, but Superman to me has always been about fitting in, and I think that’s something everyone has felt. I feel like comics and superheroes get a bad rap in general, mostly because of sometimes silly concepts, but I think if you look farther you can find some pretty well written characters.

TheJutin TheJutin I really find that complain people tend to make unfair and not good. I completely agree.
If you live in america can’t you just go to a payphone and call an ambulance for someone you don’t like, even though they’re not injured, and then make them pay for it?
I keep on seeing people criticize things Nintendo are doing and then all the comments are “but you’re still gonna buy it!” and then literally every time that happens they respond saying no, they weren’t planning on buying it and the commenter looks like an absolute fool.

Not to mention the argument is stupid in the first place because criticizing a company because you like it and buying their products are not mutually exclusive. “I’m going to buy this game because I like the series although I think this particular game could have done better.”
Yes it’s a dilemma because buying it would almost be like approving of their actions but it’s more complicated than that. It deserves more of a conversation than “boycott nintendo or you’re a hypocrite” because situations like this are complicated

This is literally the same argument as “you can’t criticize society because you’re part of it” and it’s dumb

I don't really get how they're not accessible since you can just as easily buy used titles at a game store if not Amazon or eBay on top of the fact even phones can run ROMs if not PCs.

The point is more that corporations don't really care about criticism unless it pertains to you potentially not buying their products. They don't care if you call their business **** or say mean things about them. They only care about having a negative image when it might potentially harm public trust and subsequently sales. The executives hire teams that sift through your comments and determine whether they might have an impact on sales; they don't actually read anything you say. What execs do see are sales reports and growth charts. If they determine that sales are still up despite negative feedback then there isn't really any reason to change their ways then, is there?

So when there is a lot of grumbling over $80 ports or being forced to pay for online and Nintendo has normal game sales and the Switch is a major success, then there isn't really any incentive for them to discontinue these practices. Because they don't really care what you personally think about them, but whether you give them your money. Even if the individual commenter doesn't buy it, enough people clearly do or we would have another Battlefront 2 situation where Nintendo would have to make some changes. That's where this line of thinking comes from.

In truth, you're not going to change anything without making some personal sacrifices. A lot of the comments here seem to be insinuating that you can have your cake and eat it too, by buying the games you like and just leaving angry comments on the internet to "send a message". But as I illustrated above, they only care about sales at the end of the day. Consumers have this idea that these execs care about the good name of the product like they do, but this is strictly business and they could not care less if the entire company went under as long as they have a good exit package.

But realistically, the inability of consumers to let go of their consumption habits is entirely why things will never change and why making consumers the market regulators was always a dumb idea in the first place. Or a genius idea for market leaders because they know consumers will never leave them and they are free to do whatever they want.

    Precisely.
That's why I do MY part to NOT be part of the problem by buying more games used if I'm not pirating.
Had numerous complaints with Smash Ultimate.
Bought it used. Friend got me the DLC with their money as a gift but I have no reason to get the 2nd papckas things stand.
Pokemon LGEP is NOT worth 60 bucks.
Borrowed it and finished it in about a week.
    Pokemon SWSH is laughable garbage.
Bought it used just to play it cuz I like Pokemon and I KNEW it was gonna suck.
    Mario 3D All-Stars is a scam.
Glad I bought it used and for a LESS than what it goes for new.

I have every right to call out Nintendo's and Game Freak's nonsense because in numerous cases I'm actually doing something about it and they are NOT getting even one cent out of me.

Put your money where your mouth is.
I remember seeing a meme that says “thank god minecraft story mode released in 2016 and not know because can you imagine what youtubers would be in it?”

like what? Do you know what the whole minecraft culture was like in 2016? Why would they have the idea to put youtubers in 2021 but not 2016?
I remember watching the mad magazine cartoon a bit as a kid and…
Okay it’s a really bad show and that won’t change, but I dunno, something about seeing things like smash bros being referenced on TV really resonated with me. There were some pretty obscure references too.

too bad half the skits in show were about bad movies nobody remembers from the early 2010s
Sometimes I’ll watch a few youtube videos from a new channel, and then youtube will almost completely fill my reccomendations with their videos, so to stop them from doing that I’ll press “not interested” on a couple of the videos even though I am interested in the channel.
The grubhub add was bad and all, but those "welcome to the flavorhood" doordash adds are probably just as bad. They make me cringe so much and the music is like nails on a chalkboard
Remember how awful the nintendo creators program was? It makes me really frustrated when people act like nintendo's wrongdoings is a recent thing
Is it just me or is it kind of weird when people call capcom vs snk 2 "cvs2?" Like, SNK is already an acronym and you make an acronym of the acronym? It also sounds very similar to "cps2" which is another acronym associated with capcom fighting games.
Most of the time indie games like Bomb Rush Cyberfunk or Disc Creatures that take really heavy inspiration from another bigger and more popular game aren't plagiarism but saying they should have done more gameplay-wise or aesthetic-wise to differentiate themselves from the classic game is still a valid criticism. (i mean not necessrily with bomb rush because it's only been announced today but you know what I mean)
I find it weird how people are kind of trying to hype up emmi as the big new face of the metroid series, and saying they should get in smash. Especially because right now emmi really doesn't seem to be adding much to the gameplay. I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, but emmi kind of just seems to be the same thing as the zebesians from zero mission and the sa-x from fusion gameplay-wise. We don't even know if emmi will even be a memorable part of the game. It probably will, but still.
little mac really should have been added to smash sooner than smash 4

Wasn't he supposed to be in Brawl but they resolved to make him an AT? Could have been a time reason or just unsure on moveset at that point. I think he shared a similar fate as Excitebiker in Brawl, considered but 'couldn't do justice' for them as playable at the time.
Watched the first episode of marvel what if, and I thought it was alright. Obviously the pacing is pretty bad and it rubs off poorly on the rest of the show, but still it was fun. I know this is a cliche phrase and all, but a good "turn off your brain" kind of thing. I wonder if these alternate universe versions of the characters will somehow return somewhere in the MCU.

Doesn't bode well for me then. I was hoping that maybe, just MAYBE something that isn't ramshackled onto the mainline MCU stuff might be good because they can just do whatever, take the time to have creative stories. It's 'What If' after all, and the What If line of comics was always enjoyable. Not restricted by canon, they can just have fun with it and make good content.

But if it's yet more of Disney Brand "Turn Off Your Brain"(TM) then I guess I'm not going to bother. Not going to support more Disney slop. This little Oliver Twist isn't interested in asking for more at this point. It's all becoming noise and a blurred mucky mess of CONSUME PRODUCT with Disney/Marvel, now more than ever. sigh Was fun while it lasted, I guess.
