the way the family guy videogame makes each of the cutaway gags a little minigame is actually pretty smart… y’know, for a family guy game

Semi-related hot take: Family Guy is still funny and has been treated more gracefully by time than The Simpsons when it comes to comedy - however, the characterisation and plots are getting worse and worse by every episode and it, along with the show's reputation for edgy and offensive jokes (its second weakest point), is doing the actual clever jokes no favours.
I remember there being a “leak” for dragon ball fighterz that was actually pretty similar to the purple leak. Apparently when you went onto the page for the upcoming DLC characters, the background was a different colour for each character even though they haven’t been released yet, and so lots of people thought the colours would signify which character was going to be added. Of course the difference is the dbfz leak actually like, y’know, made sense.

As far as I know, the colours were pretty much unrelated to the characters that got added which is a bit strange.
you thought endgame ruined thanos’s villain motivation? marvel what if episode 2 did it way, WAY worse.

I mean to be fair What If is supposed to be more tongue in cheek and the Thanos in What If has no bearing on the main universe Thanos

I know they’re different characters, but it is supposed to be the same version of Thanos, with the exact same ideals, and experiences except for one small talk with T’Challa. It just seems like a pretty big disrespect to his character. I understand that it’s a spinoff show so it’s not that big a deal but still I’m not exactly fond of it.

I do like the idea of the joke though. I think they should have just had Nebula and T’challa talk about him and joke about how his plan sounds like genocide. If they really had to include him in the show for fanservice, then I think they could have just had him be a reluctant ally of the ravagers to try and achieve his own goals, and also still have the “haha genocide” jokes.

Well I thought it was pretty fun and didn't really care. It still felt like Thanos for the most part-and he was still putting his ideas out there kinda. He's a calm dude for the most part and I don't think one good talk couldn't change his mind about something. He also just evened out the ravengers pretty well as their "big softie" guy like how the MCU guardians have Drax.
When you think about it, Smash is the kind of series that’s actually very easy to do without it’s original creator. Sakurai retiring from the series and working on other games might actually be beneficial to the series IMO.
Even though it can be so easily go disproven, I bet there’s still gonna be people saying the leak is true.

how much you wanna bet someone liked blocked content will make a video covering this “leak?”
    Okay, just hear me out:
I feel like it’s okay to deliberately not listen to any negative of a game or a movie you love from your childhood.

So the reason I think this is that a lot of the time these bits of media can become so special that they’re intrinsically linked to childhood memories. So I know this sounds strange, but it’s simply perfectly fine for people to not want to hear criticisms of these things to preserve these happy memories because it makes their life nicer. People who say this “ruins their childhood” are obviously exaggerating but sometimes it’s a little devastating to realize something you felt like you based your life on as a kid doesn’t hold up anymore.

The problem comes when people don’t let others make those criticisms, and willingly read those ciriticisms with a confirmation bias against them. So if someone favorite game as a kid was ocarina of time (I’ll use that as an example because I feel like there are a lot of people this applies to with that game specifically) they’re allowed to go on the internet and ignore negative takes on the game. But it’s problematic when they try to act like they know everything about the game and participate in nuanced discussions of the game with this in mind and try to debunk or shut down legitimate criticisms of the game when it’s so tied to their personality for them. People are allowed to not look at criticisms of a thing they liked as a kid of they want to, they just shouldn’t act like they’re an expert on the topic and have the self awareness to not try and argue against criticisms if they’re not going to even consider the idea of criticism

I think an important thing people need to learn is that it is okay to like bad things and dislike good things. There is a difference between subjective and objective evaluations. But there is no rule that states you must only like objectively good things and dislike objectively bad things. That's where the subjective part comes into play. It is entirely possible to acknowledge something wasn't good, but still like it.

But a lot of people seem to want to have everything they like to be objectively good and everything they dislike to be objectively bad. That's where you get the anger and sense of entitlement. Pushing back on criticism that doesn't hold up to scrutiny is perfectly fine, but coming at a discussion with the intent of defending something no matter what isn't productive at all.

Age Of Ultron wasn't the greatest movie ever and probably one of the weaker MCU ones, but I do still hold value towards It as It was a movie which I went to watch with my cousins after the mess which happened when we went to watch TASM2, and It all went so well that AoU turned out to be the movie which got my cousins into those movies.

So yeah, I do appreciate the memories I have of watching that movie.

Part of the problem with nostalgia goggles is when franchise owners listen to nostalgic gushing and take it as proper criticism.

Sonic Forces comes to mind - a return to "serious Sonic" made in a time that's moved past gritty mascot reboots by people who clearly didn't want, or at least know how, to make a dark and serious game.
I keep on forgetting FromSoftware makes Sekiro. Part of it is that people just don’t talk about the game anymore, but also because dark souls and bloodborne are both talked about so much and have had such a cultural impact. Feels like sekiro just isn’t part of the conversation when people discuss those games
I do like the idea of adding non-main characters before the main character of a series gets in smash, but the idea of adding a monster from resident evil before the main character is so weird to me, and I think it really just wouldn’t represent the series well.

Really, the only series I can see an enemy getting in before a main character is dragon quest, where that didn’t happen, and maybe pyramid head from silent hill. There might be some others I’m forgetting about though.
I feel like a lot of those "redditor minecraft fans" that hate fortnite have a genuine victim complex. They all seem so anxious about Fortnite replacing their game, and their childhood game being forgtten, even if that's a dumb way of thinking

So after Apple said they will scan phones for child abuse, a whole bunch of people got this false impression that there will literally be a guy searching through your phone. That’s not true and is a dangerous misconception. They use an AI to scan through your phones and report any images that are already recognized as child abuse by the fbi.

also sidenote, I really hope they scan through images people have deleted because if they don’t, and then they just announce it, it’ll give time for anyone to delete any photos they have. That would be ****ing stupid on apple’s part if that happened.
I’m sure sakurai doesn’t actually have a problem with people making memes about him, just when those memes are trying to make a point he might not necessarily agree with.
I remember when I was a kid I read this book called the genius files which was a pretty standard “spy kids-like” story and they also went on a roadtrip across america which was pretty interesting.
My main takeaway was the fact that there’s a big plot twist where it turns out that the main antagonist and the guy who made the spy kids program did so because he witnessed the 9/11 attacks. Yeah, that’s a dark thing to put in a book for ages 9-12
My favorite DC superhero, and one of my favourite superheroes has always been Superman. Some part of that admiration might be nostalgia, sure, but I’ve always liked how he’s simply a genuinely really nice and caring person despite how almost inhumanly powerful he is. Especially when there’s so many superheroes who are portrayed as edgy and morally grey. There are a lot of other things I like about him as well.

Superman is probably one of the fictional characters who has shaped who I am the most ever since I was a kid.

I once saw one of the Christopher Reeves movies on TV when I was 7, and after doing so I asked my mother for the other movies. And that Christmas I got a Collector's box which had all the movies and the extended cuts of Superman 1 and 2 (alongside some comics).
There was something with the character which just clicked on me: his good will coming off just naturally, the fact he just wishes the best on everyone and even on his enemies (be It by hoping they improve themself or other stuff), the way he would always remind people of safety meassures every time he got to rescue them... Idk, I just felt that he was the kind of person I wanted to be when I grew up.

And yeah, seeing nowadays how DC and Amazon (the latter with the Boys and Invincible) are trying to sell this idea of Superman-like characters always having to be evil and do messed up stuff does feel quite dissapointing for me.
Because I do feel that right now the world needs more people who could learn something from how the classic Superman was. They basically need hope and enough good will to consider that maybe if each one of us did take our part... Maybe things would indeed be better for everyone around us.

Sorry for the long post but yeah... Superman as a character did leave a big impact on me.

One complaint I hear about Superman that I don’t agree with, I’d that he isn’t relatable. Like sure, none of us have laser vision, but Superman to me has always been about fitting in, and I think that’s something everyone has felt. I feel like comics and superheroes get a bad rap in general, mostly because of sometimes silly concepts, but I think if you look farther you can find some pretty well written characters.
