Why was Uboa from Yume Nikki so popular in the late 2000's/early 2010's? I can understand the popularity of other "popular creepy things in video games" like Lavender Town or the Mad Piano because they are a tone shift from their games's usual tone. Now, I'll admit I haven't played Yume Nikki, but isn't it a straight up horror game? It feels kinda weird to focus on this one aspect of it when there's tons of moments like it.
