It's really cool how arguably the first proper animated cartoon star (in the sense of having a unique personality and not being based on an existing source material), Gertie the Dinosaur, is female. I'm not gonna say that Gertie the Dinosaur (1914) is particularly woke, simply refering to a non-anthro animal as a "she" isn't a big deal even for the time AFAIK, but a historically male-character-dominated medium's first star being a woman is really cool.
