I know i'm still new to Zelda, but I've been placing much higher in the rankings using Zelda in the local tourneys here in vegas (I've yet to place though using Zelda). Here are some of my older vids back when I was first starting, and also some of the more recent matches I've been able to record. Hopefully I don't suck too bad =P

Here's also a highlight reel i threw together. nothing real special, just some of my WTF moments when I was first starting off:

Yeah I've seen some of them! Good comeback on the jiggs match - shame it wasn't enough to win you the match. And ZSS can be a little tricky, I can't really help you in that one.

In general I think you roll a bit too much. And you need to pressure with some lightning kicks here and there. And try to get your opponent up to 40-50+% before you start dtilting so you can start to abuse its stun. Try to do one dtilt at a time though and combo that into a quick move. That way you always keep dtilt fresh enough (there's a ratio between its decay and enemy's percent) so that you can always abuse its stun.

But yeah keep up the good work! I'm sure others will critique too!

I'm updating all of this tonight. I'll reorganise it as well into characters rather than players.

edit: what a nice video AzN =)

@AzNfinesse: Great "combo" video! I´m guessing that some of your opponents weren´t very used to fighting Zelda, but overall very good!

And as a side note, we need more recent videos here...

Lots of the videos that are up right now are really old. I think that dates should be added to matches so that people will know how old it is before they click on the links. We also might want to consider deleting some of the older vids for characters where there are a lot of videos (I'm not suggesting removing all the old videos because lets face it, Zelda vids are hard to come by).

I'll look through DM's stuff to find some vids from SBHM8, 9, and 10. There's not much of my Zelda recently because I've been focusing on improving my Sheik, so most vids of me are Sheik or Zelda/Sheik (I still use Zelda solo too, but those matches tend to not get recorded, lol).

Cool! What I'll do is draw a line from now so any videos posted from March onwards will be considered recent. So post away!

We should also critique each other more, and maybe have a top 10 set of matches that are AMAZING -- or we have to submit the videos we feel have the most lightning kicks ever in one match etc etc...

I missed some, lol (I'm aware that there are more than this as well, but I didn't include vids where he was playing poorly or played against someone who wasn't that good).

SBHM 9 (3/29/2009)
DarkMusician (Zelda) vs DanL (ROB/Snake)

As far as that best 10 matches thing goes, the match between DM and WAR in SBHM 9 was very good.

Rate my Zelda
Plz critique my video, I really need to improve before my next tournament which is coming up in about 3 weeks. I have more videos coming i just don't feel like putting them up just yet. they will probably be easier to critique considering i lost pretty bad in them. This is me facing my bro and i apologize for the quality of vid.

I've started playing Zelda

After watching a few matches, and combo videos i decided to try playing Zelda on my own, and i have to say, she is so much FUN!!
I recorded some videos, you can find all of them, if you click here

Ha2On against DK (best of 3):

First match
Second match

Ha2On against Bowser (best of 3):

First match
Second match

Ha2On against Ganon (best of 3):

First match
Second match

Ha2On against Snake (best of 3):

First match
Second match

Of course is every video against a LVL9.
But please, don't write bad comments or give me bad ratings, because these are my first Zelda matches, so you can't expect that much^^.By the way, could you give me some cirtique too, because I want to improve my Zelda.
In addition, I could have discoverd a thing, but I am not sure if it has already been discoverd , so if it is old, please don't get angry. See it as a nice thing for beginners too!:

It should clearly state somewhere in the OP that vids against CPUs aren't allowed because lets face it, people generally don't bother to rate those anyway, so it'll save everyone the time.

We should also consider creating a separate thread for people seeking critiques (similar to how the MK boards have two video threads). It'd probably help with thread maintenance and make it more user friendly too.

I prefer to play people and then rate so if anyone is interested please PM or AIM me.
Maybe you should make some sort of "DM's RMZ Thread" so new players have a nice place where they can ask for your help (or anyone who specifically wants your help really).

I was half-hoping this thread would become an all-in-one, where people post videos, get critiqued and the best of the best go in the OP. What does everyone think? =D

I have no problem with having everything unified. However, I really feel there are only a few Zelda users here who actually know what they're talking about in terms of advice and critique.

I actually wouldn't mind making my own play and rate thread though since it would be easier for me to keep track of everything. But I'm not getting an overwhelming amount of questions or requests so I don't think it's needed right now.

My only thoughts on the best of the best matches are that they should be tournament matches only.

Well... I don't mind you creating a new wifi friend finder where you can also advertise yourself as an online 'trainer' and assess people's abilities, whilst still allowing people to organise matches with others.

I could simply de-sticky the one we have now, transfer the OP in that de-stickied thread into your one (plus anything else you'd add to it before or thereafter), and voila! we'd be good to go!

Let me know what you think!

Yeah that would be fine. I'm on here often even though I don't usually have anything to say. So I'm sure I can maintain the thread.

I thnk the wifi friend finder thread still needs to exist because not all Zeldas are looking to play against DM and allowing other people to arrange matches in that same thread would just clutter up the thread (and it'd basically be the same thing as the current one).

I don't think DM's thread would need to be stickied (unless he gets that many requests), however, it'd be good to mention it in the threads that are stickies so new people could find it.

Ha2On! Welcome btw! I moved your post here because this is where everyone posts their vids, that is unless you're a tourney seasoned pro and want to have your own personal 'space' to update.

I'll look at them later! If you need any help just read this link: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=232732

Ok, I was a little confused first, because i was unable to find my theard^^.
However, TY a lot for your help.

I've only seen the first one so far Dayzin.... I think there's too much FW which is getting you punished. Try not to use it when you KO someone, unless you're sure it's safe. And attempt airdodging on the way down, it's often your best option!

I believe you should grab a tad more as well... I think you were spotdodging a bit much which was good to avoid his attacks, but you could have had fresher attacks by simply shield grabbing and letting the kill moves do the rest of the talking =D Careful he doesn't read you though... otherwise he'll start grabbing you if you hide in your shield tooooo much >.<

The falco didn't really take advantage of lasers against you! But yeah... I'll let others say their piece hopefully too.

Thx for the critique =)
Normally i would grab a lot more but its really difficult to get him. He's constantly dodging and punishing me when i miss an attack. As for the spot dodging he been throwing me off with his laser fire. He never use to use it before so when he started firing before attacking i wasn't quite sure how to counter it. Now i know that its probably best to shield laser then shield grab hhim out of attack.

I'm just waiting on permission to see if I get a new, more active OP for this thread. I'll let everyone know in the next few days hopefully.

Now that this thread is a video and critique thread, I have some suggestions.

1) This is still the thread that people will come to for videos of good Zeldas. Therefore, I feel that there should be a separate section in the OP for videos that need critiquing (so people don’t get them mixed up). This will also help critiques to run more smoothly (videos don’t get lost in the shuffle). Videos for critiquing could stay up for a week or two, then be taken down so it doesn’t get bogged down and so people don’t get ignored.

2) As far as critiques go, people need to clearly state who they’re critiquing when they post (I’m assuming that people will, but it should be stated in the OP anyway).

3) When people post a video, they need to clearly state whether it’s intended for the archive or for critique.

4) Videos posted for the archive should follow a specific format in order to assist whoever is running the thread. Something like this perhaps:

Person 1 (Zelda) vs Person 2 (character)
Match Info (aka tournament info, money match, friendly, etc.)
Date
Link to video/videos

Videos for critique don’t need as strict of a format, but one could be devised to make it more convenient as well.

5) The videos in the OP need more information then just who’s playing. As someone who visits the video threads of other boards, it’s very frustrating when you have to click on each video with no idea of how old it is. Therefore, I feel that as a minimum, each video needs to include the date of the match. Information about the match (whether it was a tournament match (name of tournament at least), money match, or friendly) would also be good to include.

6) Videos against CPUs are obviously not allowed, however, we shouldn’t assume that all players know this. Therefore, the OP should state this.

7) This suggestion is more based on my personal opinion than the others, but I feel that Wifi matches shouldn’t be allowed in the archive. Either that or perhaps there should be a separate Wifi section. Wifi critiques are still okay for obvious reasons.

8) There should be a section in the OP that clearly states the rules of this thread in numbered or bullet form. That way, it’s easy to find the rules and easy to follow them as well.

9) I know Bobby already started this, but the old videos need to be checked. We need to make sure that the links still work, that they’re sorted correctly (me vs SN, lol), and we may even want to remove some of the older ones.

Oh yeah, the people critiquing should know what the hell they're talking about.

There's no real way to regulate this, but if people wanna get critiqued, they shouldn't have to hear "Love Jump more."

:/

I'll be updating the vs character videos with recent vids. Link me anything recent. Anything from 09 is fine but something like from March or later would be great.

I'll add them to the appropriate vs character and remove the older ones.

Changed the picture in the OP.

Thank you Kaylo. Since the pose is from the original Brawl pic I thought it was pretty cool. And I don't see alot of Zelda pictures drawn in that style. Each character will have an update marker over it to show which ones have gotten the newest matches.
