Wow....

Well, time to start work on that...whenever we figure out how...

And what are the "hurtboxes" of the sandbag? Peach seemed a little too far away...

Peach's dsmash hitboxes expand horizontally as the move continues, right? So you can't make all the hits phantom from next to somebody.
Phantom hits don't cause hitbox expansion. Hitbox expansion is due to hitlag effects, and afaik there is no hitlag (or only 1 frame) from a phantom hit.

However, you can do it from above. The best example is when someone is shielding, because it holds their character model perfectly still. If their head is sticking out of their shield (*cough* Marth *cough*) and you're on a platform above them (FoD works great) it's surprisingly not that hard.
Yeah I've managed to figure out the phantom d-smash for... useless characters. Basically it is something that only matters for Jigglypuff after a whiffed rest, and I can't get it to work with her. Its clearly dependent on hurtbox positioning, and she just might not have the right hurtbox when in rest lag for it to work.

you can make all the hits phantom, thats how the peach NBA WR is done http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQbRfJa73Q4
:D

Tactical Social... Social Tactics, appropriate for the Peach board.

Personally I prefer Falcon mains. =/

Convenient that a roll positioned Peach correctly for the phantom hits to work. The positioning of the sandbag initially in relation to the edge is similar to the left spawn point on FD. So that helps somewhat.

Yo veril I played around with phantom dsmash for a while, the most realistic thing I came up with was holding down and very slightly forward and rolling the stick up and then down again to get peach to move forward very slightly, and at what I believe is the smallest forward increment. It's just an idea but if you turn it into some kind of reality I'm all ears.
@ palpi, good stuff! I'm having trouble remembering to use it in tournament myself ^^; Speaking of which. . .

In other news, I placed 3rd at a local yesterday. I feel like I played pretty well, so I'm happy it got recorded. I'll link when the videos are up.

Mafia, you going to the next no johns? I'd like to play you :)

When I feel like playing peach alot and a take a break from fox, my peach gets a lot better, just from the transition from fox. Then I get back in the groove with fox after playing peach. I feel like their styles as characters are complimentary to eachother as well as to my style. :)

The way I have peach move in tiny increments is totally and completely unrealistic for any actual match. Basically depending on how you time jab transitions, peach slides forward a minuscule amount.

Gonna throw in the towel on testing the phantom d-smash vs. Jigglypuff in rest lag. If Phantom d-smash is at all realistically possible it would be in doubles when your partner gets a grab. There are lots of other more productive things to work on though, hitbox analysis and KO% testing with DI, etc. When I used to do this sorta thing for brawl (oh the shame... don't judge me bro), I really neglected practicing the bread and butter stuff myself, so my output isn't gonna be as absurd as it was 2 years ago. I definitely want to have the tech skill, spacing, and understanding of practical strategies, rather than just being a ridiculous math junkie.

Question for you Peach's: Is there any reason to wavedash forward as opposed to just using her DJC landing (whatever its called). I just roll my finger over the jump buttons, or hit Y and use my thumb to press x, and it feels way faster than the wavedash. I know that from the raw frame data perspective it IS better, but I'm not exactly an excellent judge of distance.

I main Peach, and I picked up FOx as an official secondary at the end of the first RIT academic year. So like, early May. I don't know why yet, but I feel like Peach and Fox are just really good for me and my play style, too. Like, I feel as though I could be a Fox main (if my tech skill wasn't bad).

Wavedash forward is good for distancing yourself from someone who isn't quite fast, or just for escaping in general. I can't give you many specific instances, but Armada used this to get away from Mango in Genesis 1 so that he could pull turnips for approaches. That's the main one that sticks out to me.

Thanks for the tips on match-ups! I already implemented some CC punishment on a Mario.

I was wondering though, why did you say that Y-Link can't FF? Because his FF is not as good as Link's?

Young link literally does not have a fastfall. all it does is accelerate him to his maximum falling speed, which is no different from his regular falling speed. Basically, if you were to jump off of say, temple, into the great abyss and reach your maximum normal falling speed, then fastfall, your speed wouldn't change.
Also, samus can fastfall twice. :o

@wake, Thanks <3
@ palpi, I should be.

Marines are all bottoms, I don't know what all the rest of you would do with them.
That's surprising. I'm not into military guys or gals though so I wouldn't know.

I'm curious as to how that is explained by melee attributes. According to the attributes data, YL has a normal terminal velocity of 2.13000114, and a FF terminal velocity of 2.200000048. Maybe its just an imperceptibly small difference?
Yeah Vanz is amazing.
Truth.

I want to go to No Johns, since its not too far from where I live. School preparations might make that impossible, depends on if I need to go down and get fitted for my scrubs that weekend or if I can do it next week (yayuhz getting my nurse uniform, the scrubs they use on the show Grey's Anatomy.... sooo sweet omg. :D).

If I can go it would be my first melee tourney in like... 4 years. Gon' get *****.

Haha. Good ol' MH. I prefer adam4adam nowadays tbh. But I think guys on MH are more likely to actually meet.

Ice is pretty cute. He kind of looks like a backstreet boy.

edit:

MacD's type is basically a younger Justin Bieber. Ice looks like he might be legal in Germany, so he's not down.
