She entered at the last one.

Tied with someone for last place, but it was a stacked tournament.

So since we're talking about girls so much, what is the Samus vs. Peach matchup like? Personally I don't like her cuz it's a space lesbian.
I think Samus vs Peach is a dumb *** match up but maybe it's because I play against HugS and another good Samus. It's just too campy for me. I'd rather just go Sheik and auto-win (unless it's HugS or someone really good with Samus).

Also, lesbians are da bess what are you talkin about?

LOL Crush. The man needs tending to after a long day at work.

Mafia...I finally started forcing people into shields and getting more grabs..it really works ;) Especially at low %'s after a FC nair.

Also...Florence Welch has the sexiest singing voice...ever. :awesome:

I am da best singer ever.

But I don't hate lesbians. I'm just scared of them. This one lesbian made me date this girl (the only I ever did that wasn't in elementary school). If they attack you, you can't fight back cuz they're girls and the majority of them are more muscular than me. And Samus is a lesbian from outer space, can imagine how terrifying that must be for me?

In all seriousness I was just joking, I think.

But the matchup is just farming (camping with turnips) and sitting in your shield basically? What moves work well against missles?

Her best move is forward b, clearly.
forward b is useful sometimes for stuff other than wallbombing. when my opponent has invincibility from respawning i usually run up and forward b them, then when the explosion from the forward b dies down, they dont have invincibility anymore, and theyre in my hands while i do the u throw animation :awesome:

Thanks Vanz, it means a lot to me that you even remember who I am lol. We had a conversation a while back where I said that I wished I had gotten into melee during its prime, but felt like it was too late for me because the skill gap was so vast. Decided I don't care. I'm still obsessed with minute details, and realized that there is still so much to explore in this game (especially with Peach).

There are some things that I felt were really obvious targets for research: effect of staleness vs. DI vs. CCing on KO% and combo potential, points when moves induce tumble with or without CCing (since this varies by character), a good list of KO% with DI at various positions on the neutrals, when Peach's moves can be punished if CCed (again, varies by character).

One thing I have not been able to find yet due to it being tedious and frustrating: the exact spacing necessary to phantom hit Jigglypuff with d-smash. Also of interest is whether this is actually the best punish. I feel that people just assume the phantom d-smash will do buttloads of damage, and I'm not convinced this is the case. There's a phantom hit with the very bottom of Peach's fair, and it only does 7%! I don't know enough about phantom hits obv, but the spacing for the phantom d-smash would likely be so tight that a single frame of walking beyond what was needed would screw it up. I know Armada tried to do this in teams to either hbox or mango (forgot the match) and was unable, so the difficulty must be absurd given how godlike that boy is.

Indeed :D

I figured out the d-tilt thing (I know I'm probably not the first but notasingle****isgiven). The hitboxes are identical against a grounded opponent. Same knockback and trajectory, and apparently exactly the same properties (Fox gets launched when CCing the d-tilt at 97% regardless of hitbubble, is forced to tech in place from 26-96% etc, confirms what I saw already with Falcon). Basically, d-tilt vs. a grounded opponent is effectively 1 hitbox consisting of 2 hitbubbles which have a 90° trajectory. Against an aerial opponent Peach's hand will launch at a ~70° angle, and the elbow spikes. Knowing is half the battle.

He has a fantasy where he will fall in love with a girl who plays smash brothers. Then they'll become the best teams/singles players in all versions of the game and create dozens of babies who are genetically pre-determined to dominate the future of the game.

/****.
Thanks for ruining my dreams as well, Brookman. This was my only hope... *tears*

Chu's sister and kiwii

But why would anybody want to date a girl smasher? It's a lot easier to find a guy that plays smash.

So since we're talking about girls so much, what is the Samus vs. Peach matchup like? Personally I don't like her cuz it's a space lesbian.
Maybe it's the Samus I played against, but I personally see that matchup as free. Well, not free, but rather easy. We've got so many ways to destroy her missiles, and you've just got to be wary of her crouch cancel.

Actually, now that I think about it, you should probably just read the front page, cause I don't trust my Samus matchup experience. I just FC fair a lot, powershield missiles, and try not to get crouch cancelled. =P

It is never too late to get into melee!!!
You sure? I got into the game competitvely just last year, in September, and I fear that I'm too late. Like, by the time I'm able to go to tourneys, Melee could be a forgotten relic of the past! Then I'd have to play Brawl...Brawl Peach is not fun.

Well, now that I know that there are female smashers, I need a new smash theory.

ShroudedOne's smash theory:

Female Fox/Falcon/Falco mains do not exist. That is all.

As long as you are having fun, you will improve and that is all that matters. I don't see myself becoming a top player any time soon...if at all, but I have fun, improve and hopefully turn a few heads at tournaments ;)

Phantom downsmash...if it's possible to get phantom on the first hit, I don't know if it's possible for all the hits to be phantom. But I don't really know.

Also, phantom stitchfaces are really demoralizing. And phantom kicks (Zelda).

EDIT: Is their a shield tier list? It's not really important or necessary, I'm just curious. I only know that Shiek would be near the top, and DK, G&W, and Pika would all be at the bottom.

Oh, my bad.

I couldn't get it to work with Jigglypuff, sadly. I've seen it occur with Characters that have a hurtbubble which could be positioned diagonally above the d-smash hitbox (ex. Bowser). I can't pretend I understand the mechanics behind it. I'll have to ask Cape next weekend when I visit. He knows waaaaaay more about melee than I do.

If you can pull it off that would be sweet.

And thanks for the compliment =)
I started playing Melee again because of your Peach. <3

Phantom d-smash would land multiple hits if the opponent was stationary (like Jiggs after a missed rest), since peach doesn't shift position during the move afaik. The problem is landing it at all.

Phantom stichface lolwut?!

I don't really get why people love tier lists for everything... ok maybe I do. Peach's shield is mad good. That's all I really care about.

Personally I prefer Falcon mains. =/
They also tend to be marines. =)
They also turn out to be rather empty in the head. =(
Now I just edgeguard and combo them to death. Not worth the risk.

Peach's dsmash hitboxes expand horizontally as the move continues, right? So you can't make all the hits phantom from next to somebody.

However, you can do it from above. The best example is when someone is shielding, because it holds their character model perfectly still. If their head is sticking out of their shield (*cough* Marth *cough*) and you're on a platform above them (FoD works great) it's surprisingly not that hard.
