I know it's been asked before, but I can't remember where and we've made progress since then, anyway, so...does anyone know of a situation in which utilt is actually appropriate, in that it covers a unique range of options or consistently allows Peach to continue a combo?

Mccain, practicing your tech skill would make your peach a sexpot :p

Armada used up-tilt once in Genesis during a CG he was doing on Mango, and I think I've heard that Mango says it's a good move, but I'm not sure, cause I don't experiment.

Does this mean that G2 GF videos are finally up? Like, high quality ones?

No, I meant, when does ISAI not place 1st in 64 singles? I've watched quite a bit of him, and I was pretty sure he pwned with most, if not all of, the cast.

Well, difficult to use isn't the issue. Compare the damage output and lead ins between sheik and link in melee and you'll see the issue of playing a low tier in a game of zero-deaths.

So how do you guys DI Captains down-throw? I go away and down but a lot of times it just doesn't help. I also have a DI-*********** when it comes to fighting Marth -- his Fair and Fthrow both mess me up at diff times. :\

cping you to Mute at a MDZ tourney
@eet: Down and out, but i mix up to up and in and mash nair to trade if I think I can make it. Against marth you gotta have those snappy reactions. As soon as you see him dart in for a grab, hit down and out. If you di down and out and tech out, he needs to commit very hard to cover that option. Condition him to cover that and then mix up.
@john!: Because I'm cuter.
@DoH: Legendary. (wanted a How I Met Your Mother gif so I could be a cool kid but couldn't find nothing :p)
@Baka: I've heard many methods for wd oos, including using the other trigger, releasing shield slightly before the wd, then jumping and clicking the shoulder button, and using up for the jump. I use R for everything, so I just forced myself to learn the timing by releasing it during the jump startup frames and then pressing it again. It's easier to do without thinking about it, at least for me, so don't worry if you can't get it in practice.

@brookman: I love Bruce Lee. And unfortunately, I have trouble "feeling" new things into my game, so Ill need to think about it in the meantime :p

Yeah, I see your point, now. I was going to write a post to the effect of "SSB 64 isn't a game of 0 to deaths" but it is (or very well can be most of the time).

@eet What do you mean by it not working? As in you keep getting grabbed, or that his down throw always leads to knee? I usually use down and away (more away than down, I think). For Marth, to DI his F-throw and F-air, it should be the same, I think, but anyone feel more than free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Like Mafia said, against Marth (and Falcon too, actually) you have to DI on reaction very quickly.

To an extent, melee is a game of zero to deaths too. Positional advantages and zoning someone off the stage until they die works in SSB64 too, but something I only really saw isai doing for a long time.

It is also worth noting that low tiers in general usually have other weaknesses like mediocre mobility or whatever that also hinder them. Having an intrinsically inferior "first hit game" as a result of lower priority and / or other factors can be a large handicap in a game where punishment can be so devastating.

I expected this from you, Sveet, but not from Alan.

:awesome:

edit:

I really have to stop flirting with my boss. But he keeps starting it. So it's not my fault.

Thank you Based Mimi.
Peach's utilt can go through the bottom platforms on Yoshi's Story... I dunno if that can be implemented in some way, but I thought it was pretty neat...

On another note, KK... too good.

I'm just not sure where to place Peach's u-tilt, outside of combos and platform stuff. But even then for platforms I prefer aerials anyway just because they apply more pressure.

:p @ Sveet

That's still not as bad as the store policy conversation he and I had this one time.

Yeah, Superboomfan's really good and he camped like a mofo while Isai tried to approach with low-tier characters. Isai did incredibly well to take it to last stock of game five second set.

If he'd pulled pikachu or kirby (or Fox or Falcon or Mario), he'd have wiped the floor with boom.

How do you fight Samus? For MUs that I don't know... I usually just try to fair them to death haha. Her CC is annoying, and I have trouble edgeguarding her. Should I go out there and get her while she's busy bomb jumping for like 20+ minutes?

I have a Samus main friend who I played with during the school year, but it was weird. She crouch cancels a lot, so she is open for down smashing, but things you try might also get CC'd. Powershielding her missiles is fun and easy, but I don't think our aerials break through them. From what I remember, it's a long 6 minutes of camping/trying to approach.

Edgeguarding Samus? I usually just went for killing her off the sides. It's probably safer to toss turnips out there, and you could probably get her with some bairs, but she doesn't die easily, that's for sure. Her recovery is pretty good, too, and if they feel like changing it up (or if you catch on to them) I don't think Samus's have to bomb jump forever if they don't want to.

I don't know if that's good MU stuff, but that's stuff I remember from fighting her.

EDIT:
Vanz says:
12. vs Samus - 65:35
VaNz Percentage - 80:20
People who play the match up best: .. No one plays Samus

Pros
- Samus is REALLY bad. It surprises me that she hasn't dipped into low tier
- Bairs Shut her down completely.
- No Need to camp.
- CC / OoS punish almost everything.
- Samus' roll CAN be chased by Peach.
- Turnips. Samus can't do much about them
- Uair will kill faster then other aerials on most Neutrals

Cons
- Up+B Oos is pretty annoying
- Surprise Extender grabs are annoying
- Peach can't really combo Samus.. shame on any samus that gets OD combo'd by peach.
- Samus can Dsmash peach at like 50% and get a full charge shot before Peach can punish. annoying.

I hate Samus. She's just boring. It takes for ever to kill her, She can't be combo'd, and most of them camp. Thank god the match up is so heavily stacked in our favor. Spaced Bairs work nicely and If done correctly, Samus' Up+B OoS will miss. Use Bair/Nair to get through missle spam. Spaced Fairs are nice too. In fact, spaced aerials are pretty much the way to go. Keep in mind that Samus players tend to crouch cancel EVERYTHING, so Fairs and grabs are most important early on.

Stages we like: Final Destination, Battlefield, Jungle Japes, Yoshi's Story
Stages they like: Dreamland, Pokemon Stadium, Corneria

Bairs eat missiles very easily. Turnip > aerial pressure / approach thing does not always work on her shield because has that crazy Up+B and wavedash back to protect herself with. Just something to note.

I'd also be sort of careful about crouch canceling vs Samus because she has some ghetto anti CC moves. Her down smash can very easily double hit you if you CC it. Her Dair and up tilt are also good vs CC and can start combos whether you're crouching or not.

Beyond that, though, I'd just go with what VaNz says.

Oh, so our bair breaks her missiles. Nice to note. But I'm not sure if I want to turn around in this matchup that often...

Yeah, I Have Space Balls is pretty ****. Probably one of the best Samus's out there.

Yeah, one less name is listed than what the number states. I dunno why, but logic isn't normally welcome here, so...

If you don't stay focused, Samus is pretty annoying. Like...pretty annoying. I found that 50% of the time, I could pwn my friend with Jiggs.
