Exactly. I'm not claiming you meant it as a heterosexist slur, but it is still offensive and demeaning. And unnecessary. It's really not that hard to replace its common smash usage with "cheap" or something of that nature.

A good comparison for calling someone a "f****t" based on something other than their orientation is the usage of "jew" to refer to someone who is frugal with their money. Do you think that's acceptable too? It's using a term (this time not even a slur) in a negative way, which has automatic implications about the group in question ("Jews are cheap").

I find you can grab the edge easily enough with Up-b after laying some needles down, then do a quick nair/fair onto the stage.

I haven't read the guide thoroughly, but he's probably talking about when Sheik is forced to up-B on-stage.

If you stand up from the edge to dodge the needles, you can then wd/float to the edge before sheik can get there with her upb, forcing her once again to go onto the stage.

As someone who is still learning with Peach, I should really be here more...but anyways...

Is it just me, or is our grab range kinda broken? Not like Marth's, but it does have some serious range sometimes...

Also, the human language is, for the most part, based on context, I think. Words are the conduits we use to give meaning to our feelings, our thoughts. That being said, there is an argument for both sides.

Nevertheless, we should think about whether we want to control language and save people from being offended, or let anyone say what they want, irrespective of who gets offended.

iirc peach has the largest reverse grab hitbox, and yeah, we don't have marth range or nothing but those ladyfingers reach pretty far

Also, in relation to grabs, I have a problem. I was in training mode, and set Falco to Evade, so that each time I grabbed him, he would DI as much as he could, to practice chaingrabbing. But I'm finding that I can't catch him at all until 55-60%. Is that just me being slow, or is it something with the way computers DI?

No, on evade you can get them, make sure you're dash grabbing and not jc grabbing, dash has more range

Yeah, I'm definitely dash grabbing. But it seems like by the time I start running, they're close to landing, if they haven't landed already. I always try to wait until I'm completely out of my throwing animation, which may or may not be screwing me up. I don't know.

so i was practicing chaingrabs the other day
a bit of advice i have is know where peaches grab hitbox is, and keep your eyes on that height above the ground. After the uthrow, run towards them (know the damn timing! it's so important!) and grab when you see them enter the space you've been watching. Idk, that's how i found I could do it most easily, hope it helps.

I wouldnt call "frame perfect" the same as an optimal strategy, and if so its definitely not "not complicated". There are times when its more efficient to wait a certain number of frames or manipulate the hitbox in a slower way.

I need some place to start, and at the moment I find myself just kinda running at my opponent throwing out nairs and dash attacks and getting ****ed up. I see a lot of my problems I think but for some reason whenever I play I do so like an idiot so I'm waiting for something to just click in my head I guess so I start thinking when I play.

I've kinda chilled out on abusing the turnips ever since my friend starting catching like every single one, I should probably be a bit smarter about how I use them though rather than jump>throw.

If they catch the turnip they are 1. in lag and 2. unable to aerial. Throw on, young vampire. Throw on.

If they are used to grabbing ur turnips, pull one then float at them. You can use any attack out of float even when ur holding a turnip. Its quite probable that they are expecting you to throw it and won't prepare adequately for the standard attack. Basically space like normal and use the turnip to shut down their escape options.

Or throw the turnip behind yourself then hit them with a bair while they attempt a really dumb looking aerial expecting grab the turnip.

My intention was, without a doubt, to offend or demean whatever it was I was talking about. My choice of wording lends to that, whether I say "b****", "F***", mother f***er, or "f**". Your concern is that it's offensive and demeaning to a certain group of people, but like I said earlier, the context of the situation should be enough to inform others of exactly who I am trying to offend.

The comparison you made with the word "Jew" isn't a good comparison. Being frugal with money is a stereotype for Jewish people. So for me to refer to someone who is being frugal as a Jew, one can take the context given and determine that the offense is not only aimed at the single individual, but at the Jewish people as a whole because I'm tying the term in with a stereotype.

When I call m2k a "f**" for waiting on the ledge and spiking falcon, there's no connection to any homosexual stereotypes. I've made use of a word that has taken on other meanings, and anyone who is disgusted by the older meaning should stop trying to take ownership of the word.
