lucario is bad. terrible approaches and predictable kill moves.
lol Felix what Lucarios have you played?

Diddy fair = no fair though, more range than Marth's fair >:

I do like how there's a trap against glidetoss with AS, too bad it's fixed with jump -> toss. :(

@NL: that videos great and all, but I didn't see Zucco playing too well in that match.

Edit: I shoulda known, I was troll'd.

I played like 20 straight Diddy vs. MK matches yesterday with arguably Australia's best MK. Didn't win any of them, but they were all really close.

It's not that his MK was so good, it's him as a player that out did me, since he could use Pikachu and the match would be just as close.

I can beat almost every other MK in my state. The ones I can't beat are the players that I accept are more skilled than myself at the game in general.

I guess I'm lucky because I'm the only dedicated Diddy main in my state.

/Australia sucks.

Ive also been having lucario problems lately. I especially find it hard to return to the stage from the ledge. Diddy's horizontal air speed is well...****ty. and its kinda hard to not land into an f-smash just trying to get back to the stage. like i feel like Ive tried a lot of different tricks just to get back but often times my landing just ends up punished.everything from a standard get up to jump reverse peanut cancel banana pluck side b stuff, and a large amount of the time i get hit in the face with assorted blue stuff (f-smash/aura sphere). advice?

Sadly, that's lucario's most reliable (and possibly only) ace in the hole in the MU. Look for a pattern I guess, flip kick iirc doesn't do too well v. AS, so keep that in mind. Sometimes keeping a banana near the ledge helps, make sure you AD precisely if you need to. Besides that it's pretty much dependent on how well you read to get yourself back on correctly. Fair is really helpful, but if he shields that's problematic.

Pull a banana off the ledge, grab it, get back on the ledge.

then

A) Jump towards lucario and air dodge and drop the banana on top of him whilst doing so

B) drop off the ledge, jump on the stage and throw the banana; your height should be as such you are landing on the stage at the peak of your jump. Lucario has to catch the banana, shield, spot dodge or the like to stop from getting hit with it, and that helps.

C) Roll. Often when you roll and get hit, your new recovery can aim you more towards the center stage, which is great for you at certain %, assuming you're having problems getting up from the ledge.

edit: to cut this off at the pass, these things aren't good against many characters. Lucario just has a pretty bad gimping game on Diddy; any hit he hits you with is basically saying "now you can come back to the stage safely" and opens more options for you.

rofl, it's 'cuz I do my homework.

lol, the real problem about the MU imo is when Lucario actually has to kill. He has some pretty slow moves, all of which are punishable and then plausibly countered by Diddy's own killset (+ banana of course). I think it's pretty close in terms of damage, Lucario tends to catch up better than other characters on Diddy for obv reasons, but the place I see choking THE MOST is at the high stakes, end stock game.

Yeah I've been working on the MU from the opposite perspective, I gleaned a few things probably not known before (like Lucario being able to backwards dribble and JCT forwards dribble), but Lucario landing that last blow outside of edgeguarding is hard >_<
The other problem is aside from Frigate Lucario's better stages are also Diddy's better ones for the most part.

We have ledge grab rules in Texas. But Xyro is so focused on MK that Pit doesn't have one. And R@vyn isn't the only Pit that can plank. Lol.

I invented that ****.

ive never had that probblem with planky pits. I just banana pluck near them, shoot a few peanuts (rarely in this situation) or throw out a well placed bair. Im sure you can figure something out to stop this

I just banana pluck near them [can catch the banana with uair's/bair's invincibility unpunished],shoot a few peanuts (rarely in this situation)[lol uair eats those peanuts] or throw out a well placed bair[well placed means u punish their lack of timing their invincibility frames, then yea sure "free" stage spike or if baited diddy eats a bair to sour bair/nair gimp]. Im sure you can figure something out to stop this
i wish the yellow wasnt true...but sadly top pits are S tier on the ledge and our anti-edge game is horrible against him, we cant pressure him off that ****. we can for sure make him stay on that ledge but that wont do us any good.

So, I've got a hypothetical question for you guys. Let's say you're at a tournament and just lost the first round. You ask your opponent what stage he/she wants to ban, and they don't say FD. (where they ban is unimportant for this discussion) In this case, is there ever a time or match-up where it would be smarter to pick another stage, knowing that FD is an option?

I like playing Lucarios on SV generally b/c they don't live as long plus they don't have a wall to cling to if they need it. Depending on the playstyle on the ROB I like to play them on FD or BF. I LOVE playing D3 on BF more than any other stage, it's easier to recover on, shorter stage so you don't get CGed as much, and Diddy can put D3 into really bad positions if they get on platforms. Pikachu depends on the playstyle too, I think the pika boards consider it their worst neutral.

Always BF. BF makes every matchup vs. ROB in the opponent's favor if he has half a brain and some patience.
