Yeah, I was his introduction into the Smash scene and I saw him several months ago in San Diego. Why?!

oh no nothing really I'm just going through a mario and luigi phase (the whole of Canberra is) and I thought it would be cool if you could get him to come to the big end of year tourney (assuming there is one) would be a long shot though, but boss is my hero.

I've just come back from the wednesday qualifying night. It was good fun. The guy running it had no idea about smashboards, which I found rather surprising but I suggested to him to check it out. He said he wants to run more, so I assume he'll get a better idea of what people what from reading these forums.

Hey guys!
I'm Freeo and I have been hosting the tournaments at the nintendo experience over the past two weeks,
I would like to thank you all for having such interest and maybe help with a few queries.
For starters the WiiMote in classic mode was a decision made by head office that we had no control (a pun) over, it is to keep all players on level ground as not many do play in such fashion ( Many people who enter the tournament not even owning brawl only Melee), Also the conditions of the matches are:
A
1v1
3 Minute KoBash
Fought on battlefield
no items (obviously)
All Characters Unlocked and All available for use

Unfortunately There are only two days left until the finals
but that is still two days of competition!!
And Make sure to drop by for the finals on Saturday, There is no complete confirmation on the time I would expect from 12-2, but that is not set in stone
But I will be sure to update you guys when I have confirmation,
So feel free to come to Eb Swaston Street and join in the comp!
it's fun, free and most importantly an opportunity to try out your skill and win a years supply of first party Wii games!

Yes, I saw that,
It was caused by, a mishap by another employee on the friday comp (my day off)
where they switched over the Wii's and it wasn't brought to my attention until today,
so I apologize for that,
I'll definitely make sure it wont happen again.
I hope you enjoyed the competition, and I hope you won haha
But if you didn't don't loose hope i'm trying to push into head offices head that we should have a 24 man final including all the runner ups,
once again not a promise but something I am really pushing for that I will keep everyone updated on

That is what i was just talking about tibs,
I am hoping that i will be able to convince head office to let the semi finals winners into the finals,
as to boost the numbers and make it an all around better match,
Unfortunately Re-entering is not allowed (whilst it is possible if you are sneaky enough)
but unfortunately I doubt that this late in the competition you could get away with it,
But don't worry I'm sure we will be having many more smash bros Tourneys at the Nintendo Experience

hey freeo, i won last firday cept it was run by a chick, so i take it that wasnt you

good to hear that the finals are during the day cause ive had my kings of leon tickets for ages... out of interest, that woman said that gamecube controls *may* be allowed in the finals... would this at all be possible? it would make the competition that much more fierce and exciting for the crowd, and would hence attract more attention for tournaments to come.

anyone here (except t1mekeeper) uses one preferentially...

I've forgotten your name, but you played as Pit yes? You were easily the best player there in my opinion and really deserved the win. I'd be interested to see how you do in the finals mate

Freeo, I'm really hoping Head Office listens to you on the 24 man tournament idea. Not just for my sake (although playing again will be a lot of fun), I think it'll make it a LOT more exciting and possibly prestigious than with a mere 12 people (which will end up just feeling like a couple of guys playing smash).

There's my view, hopefully some of the other entrants (mostly runner-ups) will come and support this idea and maybe you could show it to the guys at Nintendo and listen to the fans.

there have been some amazing and hilarious moments during this tournament

I think that's what I've gotten out of this whole experience the most. Seeing a group of (mostly) complete strangers come together and clap, cheer and laugh with each other over this game. The respect these they all have for each other also is an awesome thing to see. I will now cower in fear every time I come up against a 14 year old playing smash!

My mother always told me video games were anti-social... lucky I didn't believe her!


Freeo, good to see you peeling yourself away from Resident Evil 5 to join us on the forums.
