Any personal picks you guys want that probably don’t have too big a chance to get in? Mine would be 9-Volt, who got a slightly bigger chance, but still pretty unlikely.

Rabbid Mario, or really any kind of representation of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
I'd argue it's one of the best Mario games ever made.

Pooh is probably the one non-video game character that I would gladly welcome.

Probably DK for me as I'd still add in Dixie and Funky as echoes, hell I might even be tempted to add Cranky since he is the original DK.

Also probably Mega Man depending on if you'd call Zero as playable over representation. Capcom in general would be because I'd also make sure to have Phoenix Wright.

Granted you'd definitely see less FE characters if I were in charge, and maybe some unconventional picks instead like Caeda who I would love to see make it in.

Just as long as Chrom and Marth stay.

Seriously though, Caeda's great. She's one of my favorite characters in the franchise. :D

CAEDA Flies In!


Jab: Caeda strikes twice with her spear and then twirls it.
Dash Attack: Caeda performs an aerial corkscrew into the opponent.
Side Tilt: Caeda swings the Wing Spear downward from overhead.
Up Tilt: Caeda's pegasus bumps her upward off its back while she holds her spear skyward.
Down Tilt: Caeda's pegasus flaps its wings downward, with each up and down movement causing minor damage.

Side Smash: Caeda's pegasus charges forward with Caeda's Wing Spear held outward.
Up Smash: Caeda's pegasus faces toward the screen and bucks its back legs upward.
Down Smash: Caeda's pegasus rears up and stomps its hooves, bringing down its wings for a two-part smash attack.

Neutral Aerial: Caeda's pegasus does a quick midair somersault, doing minor damage.
Forward Aerial: Caeda lunges forward with her Wing Spear, doing heavy damage.
Back Aerial: Caeda turns her pegasus around to strike the opponent with a backhanded spear attack.
Up Aerial: Caeda raises her lance and twirls it in a helicopter spin. A multihit move.
Down Aerial: Caeda's pegasus kicks its hooves downwards, potentially causing a meteor effect.

Grab and Pummel: Caeda's pegasus bites onto the opponent while Caeda strikes them with her Wing Spear for a pummel.
Forward Throw: Caeda's pegasus charges into them, sending them flying.
Back Throw: Caeda whistles, making her pegasus swing its head, tossing the foe backward before bucking them with its back hooves.
Up Throw: Caeda scoops the foe up with her Wing Spear and stabs them as they're sent skyward.
Down Throw: Caeda's pegasus "counts" on the foe several times before stomping on them.

Neutral Special: Armorcrusher - In Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem, Caeda was given a signature weapon, the Wing Spear. Like the rapier, this was effective against heavily armored units and units on horseback. In Smash, this translates to her Neutral Special. In this chargeable attack, Caeda's pegasus flies backwards into the air, preparing to charge, before rushing forward and downward with Caeda's Wing Spear extended. This not only does heavy shield damage, but it also breaks through any enemy super armor when fully charged. However, the charging animation leaves Caeda vulnerable to attack. This move is named after a lance skill from Shadows of Valentia.

Side Special: Tempest Lance - Based on a skill for the Steel Lance from Shadows of Valentia, this attack involves Caeda drawing her lance and holding it outward. From its tip shoot a gust of razor wind similar to Mega Man's Air Shooter. A multihit projectile that travels horizontally with a maximum range of roughly the length of half of Final Destination. Like Greninja's Water Shuriken, it carries the opponent within it until it reaches its maximum range.

Up Special: Wings of Talys - This move has Caeda's pegasus perform a rising corkscrew attack before then gliding diagonally downward in the direction Caeda is facing. A simple recovery that can also be used as an attack.

Down Special: Hit and Run - Once again, this is named after a lance skill found in a Shadows of Valentia, though it is also a very common skill for flying units in Fire Emblem Heroes. In this attack, Caeda does a quick burst maneuver in which her pegasus flies at the opponent before making an immediate u-turn. This makes it an effective get-off-me tool on land. In the air, however, this attack gains a minor homing effect and can double as an offensive horizontal recovery. She will strike the foe before rushing back in the direction she came from, making this quite a potent edge guarding tool, further establishing Caeda's aerial dominance.

Final Smash: Queen of the Skies - Caeda breaks open the Smash Ball and is then capable of free, uninterrupted flight. She can charge into her foes for damage, similar to Super Sonic, but she can also toss spears toward the ground beneath her with the the attack button. Caeda also is much more durable while this move is being performed. After a set amount of time, the move ends.

Entrance Animation:
Caeda flies in on her pegasus as it rears up and whinnies.

Taunts:
Up Taunt: Caeda raises her lance and says "Throw down your weapon!"
Side Taunt: Caeda pets the head of her pegasus as it whinnies.
Down Taunt: Caeda tosses her hair back and says "What a shame."

Victory Animations:
Victory 1: Caeda flies in on her pegasus and says "A lovely battle."
Victory 2: Caeda brushes her pegasus as a small bird lands on her finger.
Victory 3: Caeda leaps from her pegasus and twirls her Wing Spear, saying "Don't underestimate me!"

Victory VS Marth: Victory Pose 3, except she says "I hope I didn't hurt you too badly" before smiling.

Seriously though, it's a shame she doesn't have more support. She had a little bit during the post-Brawl pre-Awakening days, alongside Micaiah and Black Knight, but that's long since died out, for the most part. Also you should totally post in her support thread to revive it.

I really like Ashley from Warioware, I think she's a cool character. I really wanted her to be playable this time but once again she's an Assist Trophy.

It sucks because this just means she's never gonna be anything more than a niche character, I thought this might be her chance to break out and show people how cool she is but clearly I was mistaken.

I guess that's what happens when you support a side character from a spin off series instead of a main villain, shame on me I suppose...

It's fine to be upset about it imo.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I didn’t notice the support for Ashley until a few months ago. Remember the roster was probably finalized in 2015-16. I don’t think her support was that big back then for Sakurai to notice

That's a pretty pessimistic take on it, imo. The fact that they got into the game in some form means that Sakurai still sees enough value in the character to try to make sure they're remembered or to try and throw their fans a bone. I'm sure they want to please as many people as possible - Ashley fans included - but it's just not realistically possible for them to make everyone happy. So instead they use assist trophies, mii costumes and echo fighters to try to get as close to that as possible. The unfortunate result is that it gives assist trophies a stigma, as if it is the trophy at fault they didn't make it into the roster.

Heck, if there was someone Ashley could easily be echoed off of I would guarantee you she would have found her way into the roster in that form at least. The only reasons Chrom and Dark Samus managed to get in when she didn't was largely in part just dumb luck.

I'll be blunt here but when you compare her to far more iconic characters such as Ridley, King K.Rool, Isaac, Daisy, Dixie Kong, Geno, Simon Belmont, Skull Kid, among others then yeah I think it makes perfect sense that Sakurai would compromise on some characters like Ashley to get those characters in.

It's not that Ashley isn't worth it. it's that other characters are that much more worth it.

I'm happy she was recognized enough to at least be an Assist Trophy, but it's clear that she'll never be more than that. That's what i'm upset about.

I think it's just something that needs to be accepted, that a lot of characters just don't have the recognition. For example, my most wanted newcomer is Midbus. It's not gonna happen, though, because hardly anybody remembers the poor swine (armadillo?). Honestly I'd be tickle pink to just see the dude as an assist trophy, or hell, even a regular trophy would make me happy. But I can accept even that isn't likely because he just doesn't have the love a character usually needs.

Besides her, I'm vouching for Mona, who does at least have somewhat better of a chance. Come on, second ballot, please exist...

There's a big difference between Ashley and Ridley.
Ridley is one of the main villains of the Metroid series and has been heavily requested for years.
Ashley is a side character from a spin off series who isn't nearly as requested.
See my point? The fan demand is there, but not big enough to make a difference.
As much as it pains me to say it, a trophy is probably as good as it's gonna get.

I think what would increase her chances is the shrinking competition. Now that the big boss boys are in, people will shift attention towards other characters that didn't get noticed nearly as much. It'll take a while, but will happen sooner or later.

Like when you're actually playing Smash, the characters are more about how they play than about where they came from anyway, and pretty much all of the really good Nintendo characters are already in anyway. It's not even that there aren't characters that I think would be cool, but it's hard for me to see it as a big deal if they don't happen. My condolences. I thought Ashley would have been pretty cool to be in.

Still, you can take comfort in the fact that she's in the game in a decent role. I fear Tails may be condemned to the loop in Green Hill forever while Knuckles and Shadow get promoted around him, and most of the Zelda characters I'd like are assists or not included due to recency/competition (Midna, Urbosa). And I'm not expecting my most wanted will get even an assist - Skyrim doesn't seem to have much support at all for a third party.

I'd assume he'd be a 3D model but the rest of the Series's stuff (Like the Stage and AT) would have the Scribblenauts style. Sort-of like Warioware.

There was something I, and thankfully, another guy on reddit noticed about a way part of this was worded compared to what Sakurai said about Geno.

For Geno fans, this article seems to be a net positive for his inclusion, as the article says the K Rool Amiibo costume was a way to give him a short notice nod, almost verbatim to what Sakurai has said previously about the Geno Mii costume.
