I got it! Its playing Mario backwards, and Mario in Japanese is Ma-Ri-O. Since its backwards, you have to flip it, and it becomes O-Li-Ma, or Olimar! But the constant understudy refers to.... Louie, who is Olimar's constant understudy!

Most likely, it's the former. It's still possible that it's the latter-that we've done everything right up till choosing the right character-but it's a very VERY slim chance. In all likelihood, we're right, meaning its Luigi. So we can just chill for the rest of the week.
