What can I do against spacies who abuse the top platform on Battlefield or Dreamland? When I respawn, I take control of bottom center stage like I'm supposed to, but I get hit too much by spacies who jump away from me then drop down from the top platform. On the flip side, I'm also getting hit too much when the opponent respawns because I'm horrible at avoiding people... I feel like this is the most important thing I need to patch up right now. Get a hit in when I respawn, avoid getting hit when they respawn.

C-stick buffers all things OOS for mobility (except WDing)
Up for jump, down for dodge (don't do it with Falcon too much lol) and side for roll.

Example of how to apply it would be S2Js example he gave a while back.

"What do you do when your back is to the middle and your stuck in your shield?"

"I usually buffer a full jump OOS when I see that situation coming."

Meaning DURING the tech/roll/landing from a jump

Right when your roll is over, your shield will be up for barely any time and you'll jump right away
(if you just hold up on Cstick or control stick, you won't jump at the earliest point you could jump, and if you tried to time it, you could mess up, so buffering insures the move you ANTICIPATE is executed when you ANTICIPATE on using it so they have to ANTICIPATE you using it faster and it's tougher for them to react/punish it)

Think of some ridiculously pointless pattern, then try that, then go from there and see what happens. DON'T break the pattern the first time, just see how it goes. You might start seeing things a little differently and go 'why the f didn't he catch me?' and eventually understand why lol.
Don't think too much. It's all about them ANTICIPATING what you're going to do, and you ANTICIPATING what they do.

Don't commit to too much when chasing them, commit to running RIGHT THROUGH them when you're being chased.
See the comparison?

If you DON'T commit, and the run through you, you can still catch them. If you DO commit and they run right through you, you're too committed and won't catch them.

If you DO commit and they do too, they'll be too committed to catch you. If you DON'T commit, no matter what they do, you don't get yourself much of anywhere either way.

That to a little less extreme (like not running RIGHT THROUGH but around etc)

Do everything with purpose though.
Stand still, jump, dash, shield, roll, grab the ledge, waveland, KNEE THEM even when invincible LOL
As long as you did it with purpose, as in you meant to do it and it's NOT A REACTION TO THEM TRYING TO GET YOU TO DO SOMETHING AND GETTING HIT FOR IT/GETTING AWAY FROM YOU
Play YOUR game, not theirs.

Donno if that helps, but that's all I can think of. I get comments alot that I'm tough to catch and always end the stocks quickly when I come back.
I think most good players do, I'm not good but I manage in this area so. :/

out of a down/up throw is it possible to tech chase spacies on reaction with dair/knee??

because everytime i just try to guess/predict where they are going.

Does anyone have any tips on how to run away from the opponent while they have invincibility during their respawn? It's one of the reasons I lost to Dmac this weekend, and it kind of aggravates me that it was basically a free hit or two for him everytime he died. Andddd I officially hate that Ganon can crouch cancel. Nair approach was useless for me the whole matchup basically because of that stupid concept T_T

I usually just run underneath them as they fall, then jump over them or run past them again. All you can really do is pick an option and hope it works while you count to 3.

It's pretty **** gay when spacies do that, but I usually full hop uair or something to try to hit them, though keep in mind a lot of the time they will probably expect that and full jump stall on there hoping you'll miss or some ****, then gay you up. So sometimes I do an empty full hop to trick them, or get to the top platform via the other two on the left or right (simple, yeah).

And to avoid the opponent after they respawn, I just run and jump around, mixing up my jumps every stock so they don't expect me to jump directly over them every time. And never grab/stall the ledge unless they're horrible or something.

if you do that too much they'll start to expect it and use dsmash or something stupid when you come up. I say just keep your distance and wait for them to come down, and if they are extra stupid and ALWAYS come down with an aerial in the same way, learn how to grab them or run in and dair or fair them to avoid the follow-up shine or tilt or something.

lol... what? i have a ton of good spacie practice and not once have they used dsmash of all things to punish it. but yeah you still have to be careful, that's the point

Got some jab and SDI questions:
  • Is it possible to SDI falco's jab? What about his rapid a jab crap? Does the version of smash matter?
  • Is it possible to shield grab falco's rapid A stuff?
  • What's the best way to SDI for ledgeteching? With other characters I can sort of buffer SDI by rolling the stick before I'm hit, but with falcon you gotta hold in to aim his upB.
  • What is the farthest sh nair distance? I think I am not nairing as far as it is possible to.
