Realization!

I forgot why you guys were trying to make this Oxymoron of a fighting game competitive.

I lurked a bit and found this: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=158790

DO NOT BUMP.

This explains everything that I forgot.

It all makes sense again.

P.S. Sakurai was a jerk and a fool.

We need to try again advance this game into other areas than whatever plank is doing.

I know I'm late, but Genesis attendees please read this well:

Do your best to innovate in areas other than Stalling. You have to if you expect the game to survive another year.If you focus too much on winning money, this game will die sometime in 2010.
Good Luck.

Passed it, missed 2 out of 50. YAAAY!

Nappy, that was a pretty good match. You've got the basics down really well. Don't crave that up tilt, though, either set up for one (force a roll w/ C4, dthrow techchase read, etc), or utilize a different kill move (bair is amazing, ftilt is a nice mixup because it's two hits, so even if they shield the first one, you've still got the hit w/ knockback).

Also, grenade counter is ****ing awesome against Lucario. Utilize it.

Learn to b reverse your nades when trying to get to the stage. I use it ALL. THE. TIME. It's a mixup that can't really be predicted, and it'll help when getting juggled. Also sets up for a grenade counter once you hit the ground. Just hold shield while in the air when you have a nade in your hand.

Ledge get-up moves are really slow and punishable once you're over 100%, especially against Lucario ('s fsmash), try ledgehopping a dair (maybe doesn't work on Yoshi's) or shield dropped grenade (once again, there's that grenade counter opportunity) or just recover high with a cypher.

That's my advice.

I found you second vid Nappy. You can't hide it from me... or rather the links. That first death was weird - it's must've been due to SDI those hits? I've never seen a stage spike like that. That was a pretty good lucario player.

This makes me wanna film my matches with my friends... but they are casuals, so it wouldn't even be interesting, haha.

I played with snake for the first time in a REALLY long time today. My snake still has it, but not anywhere near where it used to be. I saved the replay so I'll post the vid when I get the chance. :)

Have we caught up with the marf social thread yet? I'd check myself, but I have a terminal case of energy efficiency :<

Also, anyone here been hobbled by some ice climbers before? If so, could you drop a grenade at any point?

I heard with some extreme SDI you can get out of it, but I'm not sure if snake is able to or not. I doubt he'd have time to pull a nade if hobbling is considering a chain grab of sorts that works on characters with teh fast aerials and stuff if i recall

Why is this not so active?

Susa is absent,
I'm about to go on hiatus for a few weeks from Smash and textures because of life,
and everyone else is practicing and trying to get travel arrangements
for genesis.

Wait after Genesis and see the thread come back to life.

*hits EY with a spoon* no hiatus for you. >: ..... see you later. :(

@Ken Neth
IC's in Melee. : Dthrow > dair > regrab > repeat

Nowadays its any infinite the ice climbers have that involves footstooling (AKA: infinite without chaingrab)

Almost 200 pages guys. =]

Sorry about my absence... haven't been able to get on a computer, then got into an accident. :x

The most common hobble you'll see is Bthrow to a fsj by the other climber into an ice block to force a get up. Mostly used on heavy characters.

Edit: Oh. Kawaii Bunny hobbled my snake and I couldn't pull a nade. Not to say it's IMPOSSIBLE but it certainly didn't work for me.

Hey. It starts out innocently enough. First you hobble at a party then you start NT spiking on the weekends and alternating your grabs. Gets to the point where you just wanna desynch all the time. It's such a RUSH!

LOL I'm doomed. I've already reached the last point, and actually skipped the first two steps and started with the alt grabbing straight out and slowly picked up the first two. I fear I'll never be the same again.

my weekend blows.... spent 6 hours yesterday finishing up my new joystick that ended up with my own stick being a disaster :( the PCB that will be used to play on ps3, ps2, and GC games was assembled wrong (1 stupid little piece ****ed everything up) and $35 goes down the drain! but even worse is that I bought a 360 controller only to find that the the PCB design was different, therefore I can't use 8 buttons :( only 6 (dunno if it really matters that much in fighting games)

luckily the 2nd board was assembled correctly and that will be given to my friend's modded stick when I meet him on friday before my tourney.... man I'm gonna run a tourney and mod a joystick at the same time!!

exam johns too
