If we are gonna build a game based on what makes sense then lets take out double jumps:awesome:

Seriously though its a Smash Bros game. It doesn't have to makes sense as long as it's good.

Take a lesson from Mewtwo. If weights make sense, no one can complain about it.

Indeed. And if Mewtwo can raise himself up with psychic powers, why not keep himself down with psychic powers?

I'm going to a smashfest where there will be Armada and other very good swedish smashers, I hope the demo comes out before this weekend so I can hopefully play it with them or maybe even record some stuff. <3

Dedede:

-Waddle Dee's cause tripping if they hit an opponent that is on the ground, they have a tripping hitbox as they walk off stage
-Waddle Doo's cause a large amount of electric hitlag (like Samus' uncharged paralyzer) , giving Dedede opportunity to approach the opponent, the Doo's Beam also causes a great deal of electric hitlag.

Dedede is a defensive character by design. Why would he want to approach anyone?

If Peach was in a demo specifically given to KingFunk for Armada to play he would be highly disappointed of her because of the way her turnips work on shields right now.

its hard to explain, but in melee if you repeatedly do a move and it is comboing the other person, the other person will just randomly get out of hitstun.

try shining a fox with falco over and over. the fox will eventually get the knockback, but just float there without hitstun. its annoying.

is this returning? please no.

I always kinda wanted to apply as a tester for Project M because I got a lot of time in my hands, play a ton of Melee every weekend with friends and meet up regularily with high level swedish players. But with all the problems that happened recently around the project I thought it was a bad time to ask.

But yeah, normally the smashfest with Armada is this friday.

Wow, that Project M website is pretty awesome and amazing. I wonder how the project M team finds enough time to be so awesome at everything.

Someone tell me why I woke up and went to starbucks when I was out of town!

i brought that up months ago....it happens if you allow your opponent to touch the floor while juggling them. some P:M members told me that they wouldn't try to replicate it because.....it didn't happen that often in player vs player matches (i don't see that being true)

this mechanic forced you to keep your opponent in the air which meant u had to be pretty fast and precise. I still think combos will be easier without this if Brawl DI ever gets fixed

naw thats not what happens

what you're seeing is the state that happens sometimes when a move hits someone on the ground after a missed tech. it's not random but i dont know the specifics for what controls it, something about the damage the move deals i -think-. fox/falco only float out of the shine like that if the person messed up and they let them land first.

im like 90% sure on that though

lol....not one positive comment from that site

Brawl players

*facepalm
Unfortunately, that's how it is on GoNintendo as well. People always seem to have the mindset of "leave X game alone" just because they like it or feel that it causes a controversy or something. I don't know, people just are not very open minded and don't read anything.

I did comment there, but it was off the front page by the time I did.

The same sort of thing happened on the net when Brawl+ first got some notoriety outside of this board.

It's fine. It'll hook in the people who are interested in a better game. Who cares about the haters?

Must control urge to quote meme....

Anyway, I'll look over the Kotaku comments and answer anyones question any way I can.

Also, it is true that many of the commenters didn't do their homework.

Moving on, if you looked at the site, a demo is coming next month.

This is exactly the kind of thing that I was asking about in the chat yesterday.

LOL. One of the guys on Kotaku obviously doesn't read. He thinks we're cutting out some characters for this project. Wow. Just wow.

I think it's funny how all the casual players get mad when people change Brawl at all. It's like they think we're trying to force them to play the game our way, when in reality it's the exact opposite.

Keep doing your own thing, P:M staff.

There's a light of hope from there you know.
I'm a little disappointed in the Kotaku community. All these comments screaming "OMG GO BACK TO MELEE THEN FGGTS" that don't even really read the article or try to understand the reasoning for such a mod.

Nowhere in the article or the mod's website does it mention they're planning on cutting down the roster. They're simply bringing the melee physics and game mechanics (such as adding wavedash and removing tripping) to the current set of characters and levels in Brawl. How does that not make sense? In fact, one of their goals is to make the game as balanced as possible, so if anything even casual, non-competitive players can enjoy it because it's no longer about using just MetaKnight or Snake.

Seriously people, don't just blindly condemn a group of people for putting the effort into making something they love, especially when you can't be bothered to get the facts straight or even try to understand them. You don't like what they're doing? You don't have to play it.
Yay. Thanks for the stream.

They're not the public this project aims.

Then, their comments, are just... unimportant.
I wouldn't chastise them for their opinions though. Everyone's entitled to one. And who knows, they might just try it out of spite and end up loving it. Whether they note the finer details or not.

If I wasn't so into Smash Bros, I'd still think it's pretty nifty that they're essentially rebuilding one game inside another (and then some). That's pretty cool in itself.

True, I too, wouldn't. But are unimportant opinions for the project, that's a fact.

What I don't understand about the casuals, is the constant sentiment of being the opressed group of smash, hating the "tourney***s" for forcing them to play other way. When their group is basically 10 times bigger. We, competitive players, are just organized around our way of playing. The competitive smashbros community is not some kind of dictator.

Anyway this is getting offtopic.
