Attending BEAST 2 was a great experience and I think my Falco grew alot during those 4 days. Those people who used to 3 stock me a few months ago only 1 or 2 stocks me now and those who I had close games with before now loses by a couple of stocks to me. I will think a bit about playstyles and match-ups that counters my falco.

And yes this is my blog :p

EDIT: And it also happens to be my post number 300

So pp, I over heard some really good fox main at genesis saying something like "Oh should have gone falco vs samus instead of fox, cuz falco/samus is free" (I think it was cyrain but I'm not sure), and I was wondering if that's also how you feel about the match up. The match up has really been annoying me lately and I'd like to hear some pr0 advice.

falco vs samus

u gotta stay outside of the range of her main moves. ftilt dsmash fsmash hard missile and screw attack

if u can avoid those, it's free, just keep attacking. don't be fancy with shield pressure cuz she will screw attack. for example, if u can aerial, land, and shield... what can she do...? shield grab? LOL. her only way to beat that is to challenge your aerial. if she doesn't challenge it u can just do whatever out of your own shield

mango as falcon vs hugs does that a lot. aerial, put up shield, samus can do nothing.

technically samus's up B start-up is invincible, so he can up B your attack instead of your shield if he really wants to. hugs just probably doesn't because he understands spacing and is a generally good experienced player.

well the thing is, that's a huge risk because you have to REALLY know that the other character's aerial is even going to be in range of the screw attack. for example the samus might guess that the falco will do an aerial on her shield, but in fact he might miss her shield, or choose to laser instead. if she does screw attack, she's falling in the air and will likely get punished.

throwing out screw attack on a guess is much worse than countering someone with a guaranteed screw attack. it's really difficult to react to short hop approaches with that move, so most samus players will just hold their shield. if there's a samus that can react perfectly to short hop approaches and up-B oos to beat their moves... that'd be somethin else haha

Idk what you guys are talking about. Up-B OoS isn't even difficult. Unless they space their aerial like a god (in which case it is pretty obvious they are going past you) Samus's Up-B will hit them every time. You can't just aerial into shield before Samus Up-Bs. It's like Fox's Shine OoS.

I thought even Fox can't shine oos of a late aerial > shine. So I would think late aerial to shield would be feasible.

Arcnatural is correct...idk what kinda timings you guys are using. One of the few times I really really really like double shining is vs samus; if you get a late aerial on her shield, and do double shine-->retreating aerial, there's literally nothing she can do besides lose over half her shield. Because samus relies so heavily on her shield game, especially vs lasers and such, doing such a basic string on her shield pretty much completely depletes it and opens her up to shield pokes galore via bair/nair. Not that I've ever fought a samus, but it seems like a good enough idea >_>

What does the double shine add that a single shine wouldn't accomplish?

you could just late aerial->shine-> retreating nair and accomplish the same thing, and way less technical demanding
