It's so hard to not be cheap while playing Falco vs Luigi though hahaha

I'm starting to pick up Falco to replace Fox as my Falcon's secondary ... still trying to get over his almost-as-slow-as-Bowser jump

and his as slow as ganon running speed.

There are SO many situations with Falco that I wish I could just run away, but can't cuz Falco is a FATTY and runs at .02 MPH. ><

i personally believe falco doesn't have very much room for error. so many characters beat the **** out of falco for the smallest of mistakes.

he does the same to them tho.

and in many cases has the power to completely stop them from doing what they want. when you play against falco, you play by his rules.

i think the best way to describe falco in a general sense is he makes up for his very poor defense and recovery with excellent aggression and offense.

falco has good defense. Good CC, good oos game, lengthy tech animations, nice size shield, hitbox like uptilt and bair that are everyhere, and a laser to stop ppl in their tracks.

his speed is a big weakness tho.

Anyone else think that if falco had Fox's shine range it would make a big difference? that little bit of extra range goes a long way

Wow good **** Rubyiris.

I like Yoshi's story a lot from both sides of fox vs. falco. With fox I like it because it's size together with the positioning of the platforms makes it so that you can get pretty much anywhere instantly, and so you can keep a lot of pressure on. With falco I like it because the platforms are at a really good height for my combos and laser formations, and the size makes it easy to trap fox near the ledge and get early kills. I feel like it's better for fox overall, but I don't actually play against any good foxes regularly (everyone here plays falco).

Edit: whoops. I left my browser open when I went to bed yesterday. This post is in response to the discussion on the last page lol

Falco has decent defense in that sense JPOBS, but on a human factor level I feel like Falco has pretty weak defenses. There really isn't a quick way to reset a situation with Falco(RSHL is tough to pull off when close to someone as they can go under you or just hit you on retreat, he's slow so he can't run, AC Bair has enough lag for people to get in on it, and uptilt can be easily outspaced if someone is already spaced close to you and fishing for any of those other options). I just feel like Falco can lose control and feel helpless for longer and more often than any of the other better characters. He just feels extremely momentum-based to me, which is something I believe I typed about a loooong time ago lol(credit for this idea goes to Forward and Umbreon by the way I just agree with it and am passing it along).

Apparently so. I'll have to get more serious about training if I'm going to be prepared.

It's really fast and has some cool pressure lol. The technical consistency is neat to me.
So you have an idea what character Mangos gona use?

1. Platforms

2. He claims he didn't have the patience to do it before but now that he cares more he will

3. It's about positioning and getting the hit. I don't do damage to him while he camps either(and if I do it's negligible).

hmmm. I see.

but what if falco just waits/goes underneath? It's not like his moves will lose when following fox from below.

I'm pretty sure that running around from above would be bad positioning though, even though he's not immediately getting hit.

Falco is actually pretty weak from below(while under someone....however you say it) if you know how to exploit it correctly.

Fox getting to abuse his speed more freely? Hardly a problem, especially since Falco can't move quickly enough horizontally to catch Fox. Vertically Falco can, which leads to fun mixups on Fox's end.

I don't really think Fox needs the platforms to win but they work out well for him.

Falco being weaker while below, while in the air? Isn't utilts ridiculous priority decently abusable from below?

Kind of, but facing the right way and getting into good position to abuse it, etc is tough if you're trying to set that up and react to Fox. I could see a Bair outspacing Uptilt simply because I couldn't get set up in time. Leads to a lot of bail out situations that kinda stalemate lol.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who realizes how difficult it is to set these things up in reaction to what Fox is doing. There are things you can do in theory, but theory is not reality, and Fox is a fast mother****er.

utilt is not infallible. good spacing beats it outright.
good spacing beats everything outright, it's the nature of a fighting game.

and yeah pp i know what you mean, i guess its really only abusable if youre in a good enough position to do so.

@unknown

When mango says he's going to "camp" with fox, I interpret it to mean something more like how jman plays the matchup, for example. Its less that hes actually camping, and more an overall patience combined with more movement rather than running straight at falco >_> Essentially, actually playing the matchup correctly instead of just trying to use reads to approach however he wants

PP you better **** him

PP prepare to get ***** by Mango :p
naw in all seriousness I kinda hope you win for some odd reason. I just want to see some good Falco dittos none of this Falcon garbage by Mango (his Falcon isn't legit enough :p)

anyways heres a question although it might be dumb. I was playing Falco today against my friend
and I was playing on YS. I shined him, jumped and shined again, jumped and shined again. I missed the 3rd shine, but I almost got it (for a stock at 0%) and it got me thinking. Why do people go for D-Airs and other fancy combos when they can just go for the kill? I'm imagining the D-Air might be safer but I'm not exactly sure. It seems if they don't DI the shine, their locked into the combo and that's a stock. I don't know though, I barely play Falco so yeah. Thoughts?

I didn't even know Mango quit......
by coming back do you mean he's gonna start playing Smash again
or by coming back do you mean he's gonna be Mr.Serious again?

I don't know who your friend is playing as? Either way they should be able to DI out though lol. Dairs help keep the combo going.

Mango's gonna be Mr Serious again.

He was using Game and Watch
and yeah he didn't DI them xD maybe that's why it looked so cool

so PP I'm trying to learn Falco
what techs do I need to learn?
I can JC Shine, Lazer pretty well
I need to work on SHFFL's though
and I can wave-dash

what other techs are important to learn as Falco?
