I did.

Your point's still moot.

Smooth Criminal
incorrect. given two even players the player w/home field advantage wins more often. this has been demonstrated across sport and competition alike

peepee can be the better player and still have benefitted from crowd conditions. the two are not mutually exclusive

How come no one in this thread is talking about Cactuar, who has been retired except for this past half year in which he entered no more than six tournaments and still made top eight?

How come nobody in this thread is talking about how a Pikachu managed to break top 5 at a national tournament?

Axe is ****ING RIDICULOUS!

more important imo

AXE was actually mad good. I would like to see him winning a major tournament. there has been kind of a tier revolution going on in this tournament. hard to see fox, marth or sheik capitalizing anymore, everybody is getting used to play against those characters.

One of the reasons why I wanted Armada to win was just so all the cocky/arrogant americans would shut the **** up for once. Not all of you, just the ones that also think that america won all the wars in the world. Including civil wars in afrika.

/rant

Well deserved for Peepee, both players showcased great skill.
One of the reasons I wanted Armada to lose is anti-american elitism coming from europeans. Europeans always say europe is the best while europe loses time after time, imagine how much **** you'd talk if you won.

I know it won't silence the riders, but PeePee winning is a breath of fresh air.

I'd also just like to reiterate that if your nationality influences your stance on PP vs. Armada or these smash tournaments in general, you're an idiot. Support your favorite player based on the game being played, not the ****ing country they happened to have been born in.

Both PP and Armada are mad legit, and given their tournament record and the closeness of the sets it is both impossible and utterly pointless to speculate who is "objectively" better. PP outplayed Armada today. But that's not to say it couldn't go another way at another time/place.

Also, it's pretty clear Mango has lost his crown at this point. I really hope he attempts to reclaim it at Genesis. The more amazing play the better obviously.

In any case, this tournament was awesome.

I love how no one is giving props to Hax. Top 5 with falcon? Good ****.
As impressive as that is.

It doesn't help that Axe kinda 1uped him.

Vectorman making bracket with Yoshi is pretty amazing too.

And Armada beating HBox with Young Link.

Low tiers coming outa the woodwork

btw, i'm not saying armada lost "b/c" of the crowd. i'm saying you are in denial if you think location does not matter
...

Whoops. Well, you are right. It IS a factor. Not alpha/omega, end-all/be-all, but it is something to consider when you're playing in a high-stakes environment.

Sorry for jumping the gun. I'll read your posts better next time.

You mean we had nothing to do with Africa?

(I kid, I kid.)

I think both players deserve an equal amount of respect. Forgo winner or loser; they played spectacularly and they gave us some of the best footage this game has to offer.

cant believe how much patriotic fanboyism is going on here. obviously ar and m2k gonna take teams where credit goes 70% to armada so they should share the #1 payout 70:30.

armada will take singles as well. gonna go to sleep and tomorrow i will see some armada achievements.

This really proves that the game is still evolving. There were plenty of Mid/Low Tier players making noise at this tournament (TheLake making it to R3 Pools w/ Zelda, for example).

dude, athletes overcome the odds all the time to make upsets happen is hostile crowd situations. armada winning would NOT have been an upset by any means. your crowd johns are so invalid

you are just pathetic. your own american fellows turn their backs at you. you represent what's wrong with your country, which is not much, just the scum like you.

PP got his first big success at Tipped Off 5, with 3rd place behind M2K and Hbox.
Then at RoM2 he managed to get 2nd place, beating Kage while Mango couldn't.
At Pound IV he got 9th place, choking and losing to Lucky but with a good performance nonetheless.
After that he started winning sets vs Hungrybox in regionals, proving he is the best Falco in the Puff matchup.
At Apex2 he got 4th place, barely losing to Armada in losers semis.
He then won RoM3, beating Hbox and M2K, then WGF6, beating Mango.
And here he is now... winning Pound V, becoming the new best player in the world.

More anti-american elitism. How am I scum? You make sweeping general statements without backing them up. You should actually learn how to debate instead of always resorting to ad hominem. Did your mother not love you as a child?
