You can (and I'd say its likely, I've -never- been asked) get the bus from central without a ticket to mascot.

Hence saving you over $9000 dollars.

If you're catching a normal bus I recommend getting one between the stop near the Church of Scientology (on Castlereagh Street) and the stop behind central station (on Elizabeth Street near Kippax street).
