Yeah, the stolen 3DS doesn't actually work, unfortunately. But yeah, it wasn't supposed to be taken home xD.

I mean, what, the guy gets a few cheap pictures and then what? Isn't he gonna get fired? Tough break for something that doesn't actually work xD.

I'm mad excited for this too. DS had novelty from 2004 to like...2009. But I barely play it anymore besides the new kingdom hearts and pokemon games that are being spit out like crazy. It's time for something fresh. I'm expecting this console to give me thousands of hours of gameplay before it loses it's fresh appeal.

In case anyone has any doubts, if you zoom the video when the 3DS turns on, it says "devmenu".

I'm sure someone saved it and will re-upload it somewhere. Give it a few days.

I'm sure the guy wasn't dumb enough to reveal anything that would give away exactly who he is, right? He didn't take a picture of himself holding the 3DS or anything did he?
1) What Jumpman said
2) Near the end of the video, you can see a good amount of his forehead in reasonable quality, it also shows his hair color and style.
3) You can clearly see the branding on the shirt he's wearing in the reflection
4) Should they locate his house and get access to it, they'll be able to see the wireless phone, which is quite visible in the video and is clearly a Motorola. The model shouldn't be that hard to locate either. He has a long, large, Razer mousepad, and the brand is visible on a nearby speaker, which the camera comes within a foot of.
5) The computer is easily visible at the start of the video, you can see what is on the toolbar and the classic Winamp splash screen is visible on the bottom right. (The one that pops up when a new song is played) The make and model aren't visible, but it looks like it's a flatscreen desktop with a small black box (the tower?) next to it on a wooden piece of furniture designed to hold the computer, aswell as a cubby which holds the speaker mentioned before.

They really didn't think this through that well . . . . .

I am pretty excited for Paper Mario 3DS and Mario Kart 3DS. Ocarina Of Time and Star Fox 64 remakes look great, too. Oh, and Kid Icarus 3DS!

Hell, I'm excited for everything~~

SOOO hyped for Paper Mario 2, OoT 3DS, and Mario Kart!!!

Could the 3DS become the best handheld in history? It definitely has the potential.

EDIT: Wait only 3-5 hours of battery life with the backlighting turned DOWN?? What a letdown...

The low battery life is disappointing, still I'll probably buy it......when it gets a price drop. Or maybe I will buy it when it first comes out, not sure yet.

Something needs to be done about that battery life 3-5 hours on the lowest settings is pitiful.

To give you guys a comparison, the DS Lite lasts around 8 hours on the lowest settings.

I think Kotaku must have misunderstood or something because if the 3DS really only lasts 3-5 hours on minimum settings then there will be mass riot.

InferiorityComplex gets it.

You're all comparing the 3DS' worst case scenario with the DSi/Lite's best case scenario.

If you know your Nintendo history, they always give you very conservative numbers when it comes to battery life. Nintendo gave us 3-4 hours worst case scenario for the DSi if I recall correctly.

The battery life: Nintendo's specs say the device will get 3 to 5 hours of battery life playing a 3DS game - if you have the screen's backlighting turned down. How much you get out of the device with the screen backlighting turned up or maxed, Nintendo didn't say.
So no that's not even the worst case scenario.

If the above is true then the battery life of the 3DS is waaaay shorter than that of the DS Lite.

Just saying, backlight being on doesn't mean everything else is. Like I said, nintendo gives you conservative numbers.

From the DSi operations manual:

Now do you see what we're getting at when it comes to settings being on highest?

They're going to give you the highest estimate anyway, just to be sure.

I've never had any problems with my DSlite battery at all.
