I wouldn't mind the roster if the first leak was true. Same with the second one, although it feels weird that it said that both Lloyd and Yuri were worked on. It'd be pretty awesome if we somehow got both Lloyd and Yuri. However, I'd only see that as possible had one or the other been in the main game. As DLC, I'm positive both won't happen.

My personal opinion is that the Ryu/Rayman/Doomguy and Crash/Reimu/KOS-MOS leaks are fake. The miscellaneous rumors are also fake, but Adol does have a lot going for him outside of that.

I'm guessing we'll find out the answers within 2021 to see which of these leaks are legit or deconfirmed.

Yeah, both sounds like a bit of a stretch. My theory is that they were placeholders for until Sakurai decided on which one he'd go with. My other theory is that they were intentionally pushed off to DLC to see if Tales of Berseria would do well, to see if Velvet would be a viable option as well.

Even if they aren't playable, do you see some type of Monster Hunter Challenge come March, when Rises Releases, like Maybe Rathalos will be Harder than usul or something?

This is based on the "evidence" right now.

• That 5chan post which is right now spot on.
• The Monster Hunter and Lloyd costumes still missing, both are from Capcom and Namco.
• The talks with Koei mentioned by Vergeben.

Honestly, I think this sums up the reactions of the Geno fanbase relatively well. Of course, not ALL of them were like that, but it was definetly there to be seen.

I think the closest thing to a "lock" is Crash. And note that I said closest, not close. Because he isn't at all close to a lock. Just the most likely-seeming of the bunch. Chun-Li strikes me as some of this "well uhhhh since we got Sephiroth" rubbish.

Reimu is a liiiiiiiiittle bit slept on, for what it's worth. I think she's got very good odds and merits more discussion then she gets - though, certainly the furthest thing from a "lock" even still.

Let's say there is a third fighters pass just for the sake of filling up the spaces so you only get three fighters and 1 individual fighter who doesn't have the other stuff like a stage, music or spirit board.

Which characters would you pick? What stage would they come with? What music tracks would they come with? To make it simple, just pick your top 5 favourite music tracks for each pass. If it's too hard for you to think of characters because there are still 3 more slots left in the Fighters Pass 2, then just imagine Rayman, Ryu Hayabusa and Doom Guy taking those slots.

Admittedly, I don't know a ton about Crash Bandicoot's games (the only ones that I've beaten are Crash 3 and the Wrath of Cortex), but I figure he has to be in Smash at some point.

Seeing as Geno's no longer in the running, my most wanted would either be Dante or Doomguy. Either way, I could see the challenge being to play as them in a Stamina match where you have to beat 100 enemies with increasing HP and difficulty (ex. starting out with seven tiny Ridleys with three HP, and as you beat enemies, more are summoned as you work your way up to a giant Bowser)

So my prediction for the last three characters are:

Chun-Li

This is based on the "evidence" right now.

To add on to this, you could make the assumption that Challenger Pack 11 was added onto Fighters Pass Vol. 2 because of Ryu. Mainly because of several factors:

• Taking only the leftover Mii Costumes into account and their distribution patterns, they line-up to where Fighters Pass Vol. 2 should've only had 5 more Challenger Packs.
• A lot of the characters we've seen thus far, especially the Square Enix and Microsoft characters, were possibly negotiated near or before the base game's development. This is mainly based on the rumors from people like Verge, Imran, and of course, this 5chan stuff.
• However, what's interesting to me, if I can recall, the rumors about Tecmo being in talks with Nintendo took off in 2019. That'd be a long while after the supposed talks for the Microsoft and Square Enix characters took place.
• So my thinking is, Vol. 2 was made for extra characters that weren't prioritized for the first pass. And then Challenger Pack 11 was added because they negotiated for Ryu later compared to the other characters.
• This explains why his name didn't show up earlier, and why he isn't in this post.

That's certainly my thinking, but of course, take with salt as the only thing for sure about Smash is... nothing's for sure. This stuff is definitely interesting to think about tho.

The last three fighters have all had circumstances where they seemingly were in talks for a long time or were characters Nintendo wanted to add for a long time. I don't know about the others, but Ryu has been in the rumor mill of fairly credible leakers for a long time, so he fits the same mold.

We don't really know if there's a pattern here that will hold up. Personally, I think there's some truth to the idea, but I don't think it's going to continue for the whole pass. Even if it did, I don't think we'll know about it, so it won't likely help much in the long term.

There is a possibility that Ryu was in talks, but the deal didn't go through or it was just Nintendo window shopping before they made any final decisions.

I mean... Sephiroth may have been unexpected, but that doesn't take away from characters that get discussed often.

Given the trend of returning Sm4sh Miis. We should be getting a Capcom rep and Namco rep/Character with a katana so if I had to guess.

Dante/Palicos = Monster Hunter Mii especially given the formers load of weapons
Yuri Lowell = Lloyd Irving Mii

That leaves one spot left unknown.

I doubt it. Sans' Mii costume looks identical to him, it'd be too hard to tell them apart.

My theory is that if it was tacked on, it was probably a case like Sonic, where Sega denied Nintendo the rights but changed their minds later, thus delaying Brawl. My hopeful guess is that the last Fighter is Sora under that same set of circumstances.

I feel like this pass has had a much greater emphasis on characters who all feel distinct in every way. Min Min, Steve, and Sephiroth really have nothing in common. They don't share an art style, a genre, an owning company, or, anything, really. Reason for addition, gameplay feel... these three truly stand out from each other, and I'd suspect, the rest of the pass as well.

I'd be surprised if the immediate next character followed directly in the footsteps of Sephiroth, which is why I wouldn't pull the trigger on Eggman or Chun-Li yet. Make no mistake, he was a boon for them, but overall a small one for now. The real impact of his wake in speculation will be felt in the next set of newcomers, not these remaining three.

That doesn't mean I expect no overlap; for instance, I imagine Min Min won't be the only Nintendo character, Sephiroth might not be the only JRPG character or antagonist, and while Steve is super distinct I don't think his inclusion rubs out anyone for good bar more Minecraft characters. But I do expect very little.

I believe that none of the current rumors are true, as well. But they may have some accurate points.

Regardless, I feel like not being able to include some way to play as Sans, whether it be an actual fighter or a Mii, and a new Megalovania remix in an Undertale challenger pack lessens its value. At least Final Fantasy's most infamous song needed Sephiroth's challenger pack to be included.

Gordon Challenge: You play with a CPU Gordon Freeman ally in a stamina battle against an army of enemy fighters who're all stand-ins for the various alien and military enemies you fight in the Half-Life titles. Every enemy has relatively low stamina except for the final enemy, a giant bowser with high stamina who represents the Gargantua. You win if you defeat the entire army, even if you or Gordon got KO'd.

Reimu Challenge: A reskinned version of the shoot-em-up segment after Classic Mode, possibly with a new enemy added in as a boss fight, be it a Touhou character, a stand-in, or just another polygon.

Alternatively, trying to dodge every projectile-spammy AT in the game (Phosphora, Dr. WIly, etc.)
