  • I saw your signature, so true. Do you think Mike Jones from StarTropics has a shot? The main argument against him is the classic "His games never released in Japan", which is something fans have been dealing with for years. Now that all those other arguments have been destroyed, hopefully Mike's will be broken as well one day.

Sadly, I don't think so - not for Ultimate anyway. The problem with StarTropics isn't just that it's niche or "dead" - we've had series in the same position get in. It has a decent amount of support, but... only in the west. It's not just that it didn't release in Japan either: Nintendo of Japan seems to flat out pretend this game never existed even during interviews, for some reason (even though it was developed in Japan). Shame, because NOA always promotes the Virtual Console rereleases.

I don't think he's unlikely because his game was never in Japan (we've had the opposite happen with Roy and Lucas), but rather because of NOJ's attitude towards the series and their constant refusal to acknowledge it. It's kinda like how Rare refuses to do anything wih Banjo, despite the fans begging for years on end. It took literally 20 years of begging to get the duo in Smash.

Plus, Nintendo is the one choosing the DLC, and if they like to ignore Mike and his series... well, his chances aren't zero, but it's not looking good for him either.
