there is gonna be three tvs for brawl (cos this is mainly a brawl meet =P ) and the last tv can go to either brawl+ or melee. i guess you guys can fight over it if you want...

this is cos you guys have already done melee that day lol ;]

EDIT: also, what do people think about a mini brawl tourney?

EDITEDIT: after talking to various people, i have decided there will be no melee consoles set up at n2c. we are gonna have 3 brawl, and 1 brawl+ cos a lot of people want to try it out. the main thing is that there is already a melee meet planned on that day, and with the amount of people showing up for brawl, we need the max amount of consoles so that we are able to run some singles tvs without have lots of people idle at a time.

most likely setup will be 2 tvs for brawl singles, 1 tv for brawl doubles, and 1 tv for brawl+ single/doubles.

also, if one more person who is coming for sure could bring a wii that would be great, unless one of the maybes with a wii can finalise whether they can show or not. thanks

normally i'd be happy to do that, but two things are different:

1/ we have more people than usual showing up
2/ there is a melee meet on the same day

people want to do singles matchs and well as doubles/ffa, so this keeps the amount of people standing around to a minimum.

What CAO meant to say was:

People are going to have fun with their fellow members in the smash scene,
and the ability to have fun can come from either BRAWL or MELEE.
Taking away the opportunity for melee, when melee orientated people are happy to show up for either game was a poor choice, not for logistical reasons, but social reasons.

Take into consideration what people 'want' once everyone is there...

Uh, this wasnt a decision i just made on a whim. I asked a fair few people how they would feel about having a console set for melee and the almost unanimous decision was no. And then theres the fact that an there is a seperate meeting planned that same day for melee.

Well you didn't ask me now did you? And I can not make a day meet on a workday since I work, but none of this is what I'm really getting at.

The point is, the organiser has a right to control a meet if he owns the venue and its facilities. But this is not the case. I'd pay my money just like anyone else to enter N2C - all you've done is scare off any potential players that would have come along the ride for Melee - more numbers than you would have anticipated since I would have also brought along other friends. We could have easily justified the use of 1 tv out of the 4 that exist in there. I would have come and played if everyone wanted to play Brawl and no Melee anyways, but the principle of control in a space that should be used by everyone and not purely for your own interests is something I do not agree with.

There should be no 'exectuve decision' for no Melee. It's the worst diplomatic decision you could have made. Congratulations on only further alienating yourself from the Melee scene and vice.

Man we totally voted no brawl at the monthly, but they broke the rules of the "executive decision" of no brawl and ran a tv with brawl for a bit

I'm going to take it up with tv control HQ and get you brawl guys banned from our monthlies

I'm on the same boat as Cao here, its totally killed my interest to come to n2c, not because i don't want to play brawl (i actually wanted to play some, mixed with melee), but because you guys have such a poor attitude

Christ guys chill. Face it, it was a brawl meet. Melee is just the side show. People were going for a brawl meet, I'm all for melee but if Condog doesn't want melee, well look you've had almost 7 years to play melee you know. There is more melee meets on, it isn't the end of the world and the brawl kids need their practice too. And I'm assuming condog assumed everyone who wanted to play melee was going to the day meet, not the smartest decision but reasonable.
Bottom line is I'm sure you've had many a melee meet and the brawl kids want a brawl one, don't hate on them for it, also don't be so aggresive.

lol redact i brought that TV so that we could play brawl......i didnt think of using it for melee but i did anyway 'cause im so nice and im a brawl person sif i have a poor attitude =P.....

anyway N2C should have 1 TV with melee, and cao should come...you said you would arrive late anyway and by the time that comes (approx 9pm or whatever it is) half the kids will be gone so we can setup melee.
please just come cao =)

Here's the jist of CAO's reaction, however you want to interpret the emotion of it, or whatnot.
Whilst this thread is the BRAWL thread, due to brawl's over all stronger activity, it has become the home of general smash as well.
This n2c meet had people who'd love to play melee with others IF POSSIBLE coming, rejecting it was socially, a rude choice. A justifable [subjective] rude reply came back.
We're a scene, we're all out to help eachother, we're all out to enjoy Smash, if anyone is out to completely segregate one game from a FRIENDLY MEET (yes I agree tournaments should have them seperate) it's not good for our health or future prospectives.

Brawl practice doesn't really come (i.e. in the getting better sense) from a meet with a crapton of people with limited tvs. It's from the tournaments, it's from playing with someone of even or better skill level than you and it comes from BEING EPIC.

It was meant to be a fun happy time for all; because remember, the basis for smash is FUN not competition. We leave the competition for the tournaments. Fun can come from anywhere, and depending on the general consensus of people who showed up you would find the most appropriate answer for game selection.

All in all; don't forget the purpose of these meets. To create a relaxing casual environment for the competitive + 'others' scene. And that scene isn't just brawl.

But I'm sure the melee guys would be like HOLY CRAP BRAWL+ pretty quickly and be happy to play that anyway :D
