Let's all remember Drago and VietG everyone. You thought they were great from those flashy videos of them editing every flaw out and adding catchy music to it, but then you see them fight a Sonic and get ****ed. Why? Because in all honesty they suck.

^_^
I remember when the game was still pretty new and I saw my first match of Drago not in a combo video, I think I lost my innocence lol

He always go for the dair, like every time his opponet is off stage:laugh:

Also lol @ Fear

Like Mike said, "lol Drago is bad".
But I give him a slight margin of error since the metagame was still in development.
I still like Pierce/Neo's marth.

If people aimed marth's dair off stage not always to spike, it's actually a pretty good gimping move.
At the right angle it will kill mk fresh off smashville's edge at like 100-110%. (I'd say the knockback is somewhere above MK's normal dair, but below his sweetspot dair).

I do that sometimes. If my opponent is high in a corner, Double Jump->Dair and then get back on the stage however.

I'm confused. Unsweetspotted dair go up? And the reason why MK's dair is good for gimping is because it no go up. Go up is like no go up?

Everyone and their dog's "better" horizontal recovery can easily conflict with marth's fair/bair, causing pain and suffering. (Well some of the extreme horizontal ones you can just jump out and counter...)

Dair at certain angles of the sword hit horizontally instead of vertically. This is on both sides of the arc's swing.

Is this going to stay as a video thread for high placing marths? Or are there going to be more allowances? That might explain the lack of new vids, although then again I don't like the idea of putting up every vid of marth known to metrosexual-kind.

Not necessarily high-placing, just good Marth's that lower-average level players can learn something from. If I think there's something seriously wrong with a Marth I won't add it.

Directly above you tipping a dair.
We probably should have a separate thread for combo videos to be posted so that ppl dont spam up our boards with threads like "OMGWTFBBQUCWUTIDIDTHAR combo video" threads. The problem isnt so bad now as it was before but this would just be a preventative measure.

i'll add you, though i think your opponent let you get away with too much stuff. you need to work on maintaining your offense and not jumping backwards.

anyone want to compile some vids they feel they want in this thread?

Both of our punishment games weren't spot on and he did fail to take advantage of his good positions. I like to bait more than be offensive though *shrug* It's something I need to work on.

@Junk
Why do you say that? I'm just playing like I normally do and I do make risky moves here and there because it's a friendly.

friendly johns are tight literally anything can happen and you can use it

live up to your style or dont mock anyone who watches your vid by saying some things were cause its a friendly

post a serious match of yourself one where you know you make mistakes that the opponent is capitalizing (right now punishment is minimal) and u adjusting. thats how a high level marth plays

and i said that because u dont have the basics mastered and ur trying all these shenanigans. a 0-2 socal player would destroy you with basic spacing.

dont mean to be mean i did the same thing. i still dont have the basics mastered.

Junk I take back my friendly john, I only meant for it to explain for the two specific instances where I attempted to edge guard him with a fair and got gimped and the one where I went for a dair and missed and got punished; but not to cover for spacing errors or poor move choices and reads, etc. Everything else that happened in that match is just me and all the errors and whatnot is just me failing. I'd like you to point out my shenanigans if you will, I can pick up a few by myself such as my reckless DB usage but I would like it if you pointed this out to me as I need much improvement. Mind you I really don't need you to tell me I'm trying to make a combo video when you could just tell me I lack basics which I would understand. I'll post some serious matches if I can, but I'd still like you to post the vid unless you think it's that bad.

So figured i finally wanted to have my vids in the thread if you guys want to have them.

I'm considered the best marth in the midwest by many, my style itself isa bit weird but eh it works. (even my counterpicks, ironically I'm virtually undefeated on Japes in regional events with exception to ooks DK who cped me there =_=) So here it is.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEVQcEOFDlA Vs Kirby (Asdioh) MWC event #2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rz6cMXAjfLk Vs Olimar (Hilt)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHPA2u5eLsY vs Snake (Nope) Not a good vid of me but it was a bad day =_=

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I37zth5NBV0 Vs Pikachu losing a set to Anther

xisin your marth is the weirdest one ive seen

pikachu loses by applying constant pressure which may be what you lacked there. but for some reason you can make the campy style work so go with it, though if we meet at apex i think me and the other marths can try and fix the little mishaps in your game. you're good though and ill add you once other people post the vids they want of themselves, i do big updates at a time

@almost. Probably the best match to look at for campiness is the kirby one past the first stock.

a lot of the time he doesnt approach. he jumps backwards and waits for his opponent to approach him. normally this is ineffective, but i still think he would do better if he attacked.
