Easiest way for newcomers to get better is to watch videos of "pro" Falcons.

And it is the easiest way, maybe not the best, but the easiest. Would a newcomer rather read a 1000 word guide or watch a 3 minute video?

Not really. Biting styles is frowned upon, plus not the best option if you aim for the top.

If you dont aim for the top, then watching a vid or two is ok, but understanding the underlaying logic, shown in said '1000 words' is still 95% of your startupz.

i agree with Player-3 i would watch to see how its done then when im done getting my but kick cause im trying stuff i hav seen but dont know when to use it then i would kneed help so i find a guide and then read understanding more about falcon then continue to watch to imitate and/or add wat they saw or read in their game play thats how i started and most of the falcons and all other smasher i know.XD

in the Sonic boards, we have a ton of gameplay mechanics and information on all that.

However, the most views we've had on those threads (and even straight up guide threads) goes up to about 20kish views. The video guide we later posted on youtube that summarized most of that information got 48k+ views.

Videos are a nice way to pull people in to the character, or even show the desired effect for combos/traps. The people who get interested by the videos and want to learn more will want to read into the mechanics more, and hopefully even become competent with usage.

sonic is a stupid character to play agaisnt with every character that doesn't have an attack that has a large disjointed hitbox that can wall him fairly easily

You can also dodge roll over Snake's Landmines and explode them without hurting yourself. Or just step on them when you have invincibility frames after you die.

This is the manliest solution, besides stepping on the mine purpously and still winning the match.
