Link is just about in the right place. He could go ahead of PT but I don't think he can go further than that. I agree that Yoshi has a good enough jump height to make sure. Samus

Ironic that Link in Zelda games often relied on his agility and smarts rather than brute force though, isn't it?
We still rely on the smarts.

He was getting at the fact that link is canonically supposed to be VERY nimble despite his heavy equipment but in brawl they make him a slow and laggy character. Heck he should be the best roller in the game, he makes his way across hyrule faster rolling than by running.

i never really understood why he moves faster when rolling it must hurt to roll with all that equipment on his back.......especially that shield

I never understood how he could still do backflips and crap with all that extra stuff.
Like, a biggorron sword and you can do repeated backflips?

maybe they decided to put that biggoron sword in with his "equipment" in smash and he moves slower

no its because of that TL is supposed to fufill the role of the nimble swordsman. Plus, the creators probably think " Hmmmm he has 3 great projectiles, is somewhat heavy, and has a sword so ummm its OBVIOUS that he needs to be slow and have a terrible recovery to make him balanced. And just because we dont understand the laws of gravity, we'll make him fall faster because he has alot of stuff on him. Hmmm whats this? Link is supposed to be a nimble character in his games? Awww who will notice the difference?"

There are only 2 ways we will see a significant rise for Link in the future tier lists:

1) A super-ultra-total-pwange At is discovered
or
2) A useful recovery tech is discovered

hold bombs lol.

and if they were thinking that way while developing link, did that thought process just go out the window for D3/Meta/Snake ?

Lol yeah pretty much. What you have here are 2 characters created by Sakurai and 1 character that belongs to a close friend of his. Link is the protagonist of Nintendo's best series. Do the math.

Bias leads to super broken characters and jealousy leads to super depowered/crippled characters

That just makes me wanna beat Sakurai's *** with Link even more.
Jeez. All this talk of broken top tiers makes my blood boil and drives me even more to just wreck people with LInk.

Guys, Link gives me the biggest rush when I play him. He's my favorite character in this game by far.
Just wanted to say that again.

 i choose Link not only because im good with him but also because it's hilarious when u look at someone and some dude in the background says "u just got beat by Link". especially when the guy u beat is MK

Plus it feels worse when you lose with a high tier. Losing as link or any low/bottom tier character for that matter is like whatever lol. Winning as link feels so good though.

that's the beauty of practicing with a low tier cuz people expect u to lose. then once u win it's like oH NoEz i lAwzT tEh matCh......but Link sucks how is this possible?

that's why I almost exclusively play with a bomb in hand

also, sometimes it's impossible to not get gimped.

but y'know, link is badass, so I don't care.

Unless it was here before I joined, I'm pretty sure I'm the one who started that phrase lol

Some dude made a thread like "so why do you play Link" or something.

My response: because HE'S FREAKIN' LINK WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED

And yeah, it just escalated from there.

The amount of pride and satisfaction, the adrenaline rush, the huge EGO-BOOST that winning with Link brings... that's all I need to keep using him. It's nice to see that he moved up a little, but in all honesty I think he belongs at the bottom. Otherwise I won't get my ego-boosts.

i agree. i used to main ROB, and he's still my secondary, but there's nothing like beating high-tier characters with Link, especially if the person you're playing against "knows" that Link is worthless. Unfortunately, i'm still not good enough to win consistently against my friends, but that's ok too, because Link isn't even supposed to win. Plus he's freaking fun to play.

YAAY we moved up some! :D

But we're still trash... D:

Ah wellz, I can see why they moved him above ganon and jiggz...neither of those characters have much potential, whereas link has SO MUCH potential but it's SO FRIGGIN HARD to use him well. However, it usually takes mad skillz and months of practice for a link main to put up a match against high-tier character mains, who will become just as effective by merely playing here and there. But even still, there's a lotta pride in maining link, and, with some time and effort, you gain great satisfaction from beating high-tier mains. That's why the tier list doesn't bum me out. :)

Don't play a platform stage versus Jiggs, generally you are at an advantage, but Jiggs will tear you up with those aerials, my friend has a pretty mean Jiggs.

If Link had an awesome recovery he would be pretty dang good. Link is flawed, but he does not suck.

And he's like....the coolest character in the game. There you go.

Hey guys. Sorry to be coming out at random, but it may be a while before I'll be back as If I don't miss out on everything already here. The reason being is because I spilled chocolate milk all over my mouse and keyboard. I'm writing all this on my PSP until I go out and buy new ones. The computer tower itself however remains completly unharmed by this chocolately disaster.

No, no, no...you don't drink from a keyboard and type on a cup. It's the other way around.
