I see nothing wrong with winning johns. It's called being humble. For example, if I won a match with a judgement hammer, what's wrong with saying "I got lucky"?

I wasn't actually asking, it was just a nice way to fit the ten character limit. But I just remembered the best option for that. You win :(

In your head.
I had myself a laugh there. Most of these things I used to do like three or five years ago. Mouth opened equals a John(s). But now I don't do that...or do I? I still use the good Johns when I play my friends though. Anyways great work. Reminded me of...me a long time ago.

While I will admit there are indeed some funny johns on that list and some stuff gave me a good laugh and are too true...

Seriously though, how is "complimenting" your opponent a john?
Really, how is complimenting someone's skill an excuse to your own playstyle?
It's called "respect."
Wouldn't acknowledging the fact that you faced a good or better opponent mean that you can accept your loss and need improvement? How is congratulating someone on their victory being an excuse? I'm sorry, but this is where my logic fails me...

Or suppose one would say "whoa, I didn't see that combo coming."
Wouldn't the person who says this imply that they accept that it's their own fault that they lost and hence, doing the exact opposite of making an excuse/johning?

Really, I don't see anything wrong with congratulating an awesome opponent on his victory. What else are you supposed to say then? "Yeah, I know you won, but this wasn't a good match"? That wouldn't even make any sense!

Ah well, the list was nice for the johns that were actual excuses... And yes, while I did laugh very much at some, others that I can't grasp the logic of pretty much ruined the fun in this thread for me. (along with the huge amount of "OMG FLORIDA OWNZ" "OMG FLORIDA SUX IMA KIK YO BEHIND" off-topic spamming)

I have some new johns you can add to the list, from someone I know who shall remain anonymous:

-I was holding back (in tourney).
-Wasn't I 2-stocking you in friendlies before the tourney?
-I stopped trying because I picked a high/top tier character and I felt like an *******. (lol?)
-Next time we play I'll go all out.
-I wanted to see where you stood.
-I have much more experience.
-What was the point of me trying if I knew the tourney wasn't going to finish on time?
-I was helping running the tourney.
-*yawn* (only after losing a match)
-KingGerudo has a pretty good Ganon.

Indeed. I don't think some of the sportsman johns and generic johns are actually johns. But hey, the first post hasn't been edited in a year.

These are nice, thanks for sharing

Moral: be silent. You're pretty much Johning otherwise.
Total silence is a john, unfortunately.

Crew Johns that have been used before:

If he/she was/wasn't here, then we would have won. -kinda different from yours.
If we had slept more last night, we would have done better.

I'm not saying add them or anything, just sharing what has happened first hand :p

Edit: ^ Whoops, I john'd

I must say, I've heard the Meta Johns more than all of the other johns combined.

NO JOHNS! appears on like every other post in a WI tournament thread; that is, whenever we're actually talking about playing the game. Lately all we've done is argue. :(

EDIT: Why the f*** isn't this stickied yet I wonder? (feel free to trout slap my n00b *** if the answer was between pages 2 and 7, w/ 20 posts a page.)

Because everything that I've ever heard anyone say or do during or after a match is listed here. According to the master list here, you've basically johned simply by existing.
