That's a good 30-45 minutes away dude: I live in Helotes. And I've never drove in downtown either. >_>

I'll see what I can do, but I'm doubting it.

Niddo is San Antonio?
I wouldn't know from his 1+ year absence from the SA scene and SWF threads.

;_;

It's kinda annoying to try to post in the SA topic when I'm out of the loop about most things there. Particularly if they are talking about a previous tournament.

If you space your Nair right you won't get grabbed

@Yagami : They definitely don't speak English in France lol. Yeah some people try to speak English when they meet someone from abroad but their english level is not that high cause they speak the English they learnt at school and France has the worst school system in Europe (maybe second from the bottom ._. )

@Niddo : Don't forget Belgium, they speak french in Belgium =p
I was under the impression that most people spoke English in France, at least to some minor degree. My mistake.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but don't they speak both Dutch and French in Belgium?

actually i generally find that frnech people have decent english at worst, but thats from my own experience. most european countried are required to have a good grade in english (being the international business language and all)

also, im off to a tournament tomorrow, hoping for a top 8 finish in singles and teaming with a completely new guy in doubles XD
im doing it to introduce new people to the scene but i regret teamnig with him because a few days after my brother decided he was coming too XP
i shall be video-ing my brother play to view the reaction of people who lose to him, its always fun to see reaction of people who lose to a 10 year old
if he does beat anyone, you shall see the reaction video

Meh, I speak English and French, and it certainly helps with finding a job here in Canada if you're bilingual. Not only are there more job opportunities if you speak French, you get paid more.

Good luck to you and your brother at the tourney G.P, let us know how you place.

In "Flandres", they speak Dutch an in "Wallonie", they speak French. Like 90% of the students in "Wallonie", I learn Dutch but it's worse than French and I think no one likes this language ! English > French > Dutch lol

Has any one tried implementing the stutter step backward to maybe catch an opponent off guard and screw up their spacing. When tapping the A stick backwards then the C stick forwards the right timing gives you a slight slide backwards almost like a Melee wavedash backwards but very small. If your opponent is trying to perfectly space you the little slide could give you the time and space to get a f smash or up smash if the smash out ranges the opponent's spacing attack. It seems situational but a f smash from Ike at anything beyond 40% is nothing to sneeze at.

What i think happened was, I was by the edge of BF and then I think i ran forward then back then did a reverse Usmash so that it started toward the edge... it was weird XD lol i didn't know wtf i did haha.. Sometimes i stutter step Fsmash near the ledge kinda for spacing purposes if they get up

Nice start Ryo, but you might want to be careful with the music. I personal like that style, but I know a lot of people don't like "screamo" music as it were.

Video game music and classic rock are the safest choices for CV music. Everyone who's going to watch it obviously plays video games and so probably likes video game music, and classic rock is just a generally agreeable genre for a lot of people. The idea is to appeal to the majority; not to yourself, and not to a specific person/people. Make sacrifices to personal taste if necessary.

Going on what Nys said: link dump to basically any video game song I have that I think could possibly work for an Ike video.

Screamo music is just a personal preference, I guess. If you don't like it, don't hate.

All I listen to nowadays is progressive trance music and it is so relaxing~~~

Got 9/33. Lost to Dojo and Santi. Didn't know TL's D-smash can pretty much kill Ike if he's below 10% and TL is on the edge when he D-smashes you.

Yeah that's the #1 thing I learned from playing online Toon Links.

If you respawn and he goes to the ledge and waits, eat the 20% from projectiles before rushing in.

Good thing TL's dsmash is super punishable. Ends after like 20%. I don't mind TL anymore. Went from almost losing to Jerm at WHOBO 2 to beating him pretty much every time without much stress. And kingtoon, too. Hope to beat Jash 1 day but he's amazing lol

Ah well, you learn something new. Santi is definitely way more defensive than Jerm. It was kinda annoying to constantly get through all the camping.

Polt and I were actually talking about Ryo today. I mentioned how he's inactive on the boards. Lo and behold, he shows up posting a trailer vid.

Guess this video further proves his point then. Honestly, wut do you ppl think of charizard's flamethrower? I know a few stuffs that can be done when charizard's abusing his dash and grab but flamethrower is a pain when we try to recover.

EDIT: I tested out a few things regarding zard's rock smash. Turns out that we can actually counter zard's sideB on reaction but we need a constant eye on charizard for that. Also, rocksmash hits at about frame 24 or something so grabbing Zard when he pops out a rock will just reset the situation. Our fsmash, fair and ftilt outreaches it. Also, spotdodging is no good against it 'cause we'll get hit by the later hitboxes which do less damage. In air, rock smash can be really deadly if zard baits us to AD into it. So I'm thinking outspacing rocksmash should be safe enough for Ike to carry on his attacks. Any comments or opinions?

Same for bowser But just DI'ing out of it isn't a easy solution he try this when we're off stage and gain the edge when we try to recover.

IKe is pretty good on every CP if you know how to play the stage correctly. Ikes only really need to ban out of preference, most of the time just banning the opponent's good stage. Banning FD for me mos of the time is a personal preference even though some Ikes find FD to suite their playstyle.

I think charizard's a joke, but then again I never played any good ones ever so take that comment with a grain of salt.

Going to spend all this week trying to fix one of my biggest habbits- retreating nair (and sometimes fair) when I'm too close. I tried to *not* do that and immediately got great results. Hard to break a habit though...

The more I practice Ike and stuff the better character he appears to be, and I feel like I'm just riding off of that, lol.

EDIT:

Also, what do people think about extending hitboxes on Brinstar? More specifically, camping on the right side of the stage? At first I couldn't understand the stage, and I'm trying to get better at it. Camping the right side/abusing the obstacles seems pretty viable to me.

Lots of Ikes move and especially smashes become much safer near the center obstacle, as long as you end it in the opponent's direction. If the blocks are partially worn, you have no fear of someone dashing and grabbing you if you hit their shield, and you get an automatic slide back after aerials.

Fair and ftilt can still hit those blocks and receive extended hitboxes, which is useful too. Fsmash on those blocks are kind of overrated, since imo upsmash is better in those situations. Uptilt also gains an extended hitbox near your feet so it's kind of more usable on those who airdodge it. Uptilt and upsmash on the blocks also have a chance to drop you and make you cancel the ending lag.

Hello Ryo, I was wondering if you have any pro PT experience to help me out here. I'm working out on the charizard MU and trying to think of a way around flamethrower when recovering. Also read my previous post for details on rocksmash and feel free to give opinions about it.

Sorry thought of the wrong move try to reach him from under the lip of the stage or go as low as possible to auto grab the ledge.

Me I'm an a$$hole and don't care about damage...I DI towards him and take the damage and stay close to charizard.

When it came to reflex I didn't let up my attack. But I also kept up a good guard against him.
