Another thing I will say is that I seriously doubt it's Pokemon related. Sabi's old source offered to tell us about the presentation this afternoon and it took SEVERAL HOURS for people to care enough to acknowledge it. This then opened up a roast of Sword and Shield that the old source was the main contributor of. They genuinely give negative ****s about Pokemon at the moment so unless the news is particularly mind-blowing, I doubt that's what the starling is related to.

Has anyone noticed that the other Mario RPGs (Mario & Luigi, Paper Mario) have become a bit stale in terms of plot and general inspiration?
This is what I hope Geno fixes. I hope that Geno becomes a part of something big, and become truly integrated into the Mario universe, such like how Professor E. Gadd has.

I just miss the older Mario RPG games, because they had such character and continuity to them. Mario & Luigi had Cackletta, who had her henchmen Fawful take a more prominent role in Bowser's Inside Story. Stuff like that.

I hope Nintendo stops the general trope of "BowSer KidnAPPeD PeAcH! oH nO! Mario, Luigi! You must embark on a journey through such amazing locations like: generic introduction grassland area, generic desert area, generic snow area, generic magma bowser area, etc, etc."

Mario RPG had such life to it, absolutely unique characters never before seen in a Mario game like Jonathan Jones or Frogfucius, beautiful landscapes like the iconic forest maze or the whimsical star hills, and amazing party members like Geno and Mallow. Paper Mario was on the right track with all of it's very endearing companions, but then fell flat with nothing of the sort after TTYD or Super Paper Mario.

It never was especially since we've never known if it even relates to Smash. Maybe one of the people who know about the Pokemon info drop was able to confirm that the starling related to the presentation. Who. Cares? It possibly being related to Geno was always speculation and, as I've said time and time again, a hint that would have to be super on the nose to be the case. If the post is true, congrats, you're all free from the starling now! Actually concentrate on the more concrete stuff like literally everything else or, you know, the fact that Sabi actually came in here to CONFIRM HERSELF the story I've been telling you all about the Nintendo ambassador this whole damn year... I'm going back to bed...

We did get Incineroar & Ken after Ridley, K. Rool and the Belmonts for Ultimate, so it's not as if Nintendo hasn't ended Ultimate characters with a more underwhelming one before.

Oy vey, here we go again.

Experimental characters are generally always saved for last in a character release pattern, no matter whether it's a roster without DLC, the base roster, DLC as a whole, or the first part of DLC. Bigger deals are focused on first and taken out of the way to get people onboard with the game/DLC (especially those that are tough to make like Ridley). It's never a matter of "hype", this isn't how it works by now. Maybe with Capcom or Bamco's Tekken, but not here. It never ceases to amaze me how this isn't learned.

I'm fully expecting somebody at the end of this pass that people wouldn't necessarily want but can be interesting in other ways. Mark my words.

Yeah, it has been annoying to see the thread act like Sengoku Basara's Yoshimoto army at times. Get motivated, give up, get motivated, give up, ad nauseam. That spreading to other people wouldn't help much.

He just doesn't want people to overthink it. He does need less involvement though, seeing how he had Rosalina replaced with Lubba in SMG2, among other things.

AlphaDream is completely exhausted, they've done nothing but M&L games in the last few years. I kind of hope they're not behind a hypothetical SMRPG remake if they got much rustier over time, seeing as that game's somewhat big.

However in this case, Genobros don't have people like Shinobi or Vergeben to back them and the only thing going for Geno is a picture of a starling that no one is certain is going to be for Smash Bros, only a likely chance it is for Smash Bros because of the person's interests.

Right now nobody can go further with it. And there's so much focus for a picture that's not even confirmed to be Smash related. Actually, every Smash roster ends on a fizzle compared to the initial reveals, like their last DLC list. I expect this DLC to have the likes of Joker, Hero, Banjo, Geno and Zack Faire.

Well I think that little fiasco is a good example of how pent up and anxious everyone seems to be rather then just being fickle on genos's chances. For everyone's sake I hope we get an answer soon but I should know were not that lucky. Personally I'm feeling rock solid on genos chances right now thanks to the fantastic starling costume combo held together by the speculative glue of all the rumors we've heard going around the offices the past year. I'll end up dialing back to normal if we the starling ends up as Pokemon or what have you but things actually are looking up for once and it's nice to feel like we might pull this off after so long.

Either way if people are now going out of their way to make hoaxes to upset us then that just further solidifies that we've hit the big time, so be proud and let's keep this train going all the way to confirmation station.

Banjo getting in doesn't help Geno's chances since they're two different characters; Sakurai listen to fan demand once when it came to the DLC, doesn't mean he'll do it again *cough cough* Piranha Plant *cough cough*. Geno's chances aren't that great, and that's something that we all need to accept and anticipate, but seeing board put so much hope in a picture of a bird and got crushed when Nintendo revealed nothing at EVO it seems like skepticism isn't really a thing on the Smash Board.

The picture isn't fake, that bird is real and is out there somewhere along with that house. What it can mean in unknown.

The guy who is someone with great connections within NoA posted the Starling image in Sabi's private discord. The only reason we even know about this is because Fatmanonice is part of that private discord. He was kind enough to show it to us or inching you could say. But Fatmanonice is as much in the dark about the hint as the rest of us.
