HiT THE MISSILES

Vs her shield you should try to go for shinegrabs more or bait the up b, shield it and punish as she lands.

You got charge blasted twice for jumping on a platform when you didn't need to ... she can't really punish you reactively when you jump onto a platform to avoid a missile, but she can get you with a prediction if you're jumping over missiles that aren't there

Also the ending XD although it looks like that time you were trying to fullhop approach ... and he just got you <_<

To me it looked like you were getting hit because of some bad attacks on his shield / CC or just didn't space against wavedash back Dsmash ... it didn't look like missiles were your biggest issue because he didn't really try to hardcore missile camp you and you weren't hardcore laser camping him

Depending on how you do it, there could be a big risk

Also Twebb: you need to exert some sort of pressure to DJ when he is on the ledge. You back off way too far and let him on the stage easy. Don't be afraid (also don't get gimped. Lol).

Those Random up-smashes that you always throw out are gonna keep getting you ***** when they happen to shield it.

Recovery needs work. Diagonal sweetspot for the edge. Illusion sweetspots because DJ likes to try and read you when he doesn't have to.

Use b-air more in general. Approach when he approaches you and do like drill or something. Punish his d-smashes in you shield, and f-tilts as well.

You can try d-tilt for the range vs him I guess. Might get you ***** though. You can CC d-tilt vs his f-tilt sometimes depending on your percent.

Uhh. You camped him pretty well I guess.

what do you guys think about jab pressure on jiggs shield after her bair? been experimenting a bit on this.

kinda excited about the next year and a half. I want to go to school in the states. I'll probably be in brooklen new york so I'll go to the sudden death tourneys and apex.

I don't even get what situation you're describing... Jiggs bairs and shields, so you jab? WTF? I'm assuming she whiffed the bair and shielded to avoid your punish, but the only way you can punish with jab is if you were standing still when she baired, and you could just grab her anyway instead of going for some risky *** jab ****.

Not really. Fox is just more voluminous because he has more options. And he's squishy so there's a lot of emphasis on "Don't mess up too much." If you must mess up, try to do it in places where it won't kill you.

yeah it pisses me off that the simplest mistake near the ledge against sheik results in my instant death as marth...while mistakes in other places cost me a mere 40%....where you make mistakes is really important. It makes me think i would be better off spending my training time playing 100% with my back to the ledge boxed out against sheik. I would lose every match i played against a sheik in, but then i bet i wouldn't make any mistakes near the ledge against sheik in tourney.

it's really hard to decide how to focus your training in this game

I'm guessing he/she means more of a guaranteed stock loss over a period of time, not necessarily instant. But guaranteed.

yeah i just meant super duper high probability of gimp. Pretty much guaranteed. a lot of mistakes near the ledge can mean death even though i'm under 20(missed DI), badly timing a fair coming down, mistiming something coming on stage. mistiming my jump so needles interrupt me at low percent even when they shouldn't have been able to hit me..

so many little things that can go wrong. I can't complain that much since fox suffers all that and worse, but marth usually doesn't suffer that much off of one mistake. in marth dittos for example after pretty much any tech skill error I can expect 30% damage and offstage or 30% and some mixups and chance of further comboing. but that's really not that bad compared to some characters.

most of the time i can't really understand how fox players feel when they make tech skill errors and get gimped by marth/sheik at the edge, but when i'm playing vs sheik i feel like i understand a little.

but yeah my main point is just that making mistakes is fine; it just depends on where you make them. this game does not treat all mistakes as equal

also when i think of it rationally i'm aware that a lot of the combos i'm thinking of don't lead to death if I DI in at the right spots..and get comboed for an extra 30 instead....however, eating 70 might as well be death:p

How can you get gimped as marth by sheik at low percent? You have to get read like 1000 times for that to happen.

You're way more likely to get gimped in a ditto than vs sheik

Whenever I see Kage make a serious post I mentally preface it with, "I am the warrior! Rawr!" and it becomes a lot better.
Spit out my coffee.

According to M2K, as Sheik, you can bthrow Marth off the ledge at a low %, walk away from the ledge to bait Marth into DJ fairing, then ftilt twice, fair twice -> dead.

From an aim convo we had in 2010 or something.

Edit: On the topic of Canada, east Canada is easily my favorite region as far as posting is concerned. I literally log into Smashboards with the sole purpose of looking for KK posts sometimes.

I wrote out a whole paragraph and a half explanation of ways to get gimped by sheik, then read the ditto part and realized marth is far far gayer around the edge and that errors near the edge against marth are more costly than errors made against sheik.

"edited for clarity: for some reason i keep making really strange sentences on the boards. I'm thinking it's a side effect of being in korea and being surrounded by korean 24/7"

but i'm good at the ditto so i don't care whether they gimp me usually

anyways ledges are dangerous in certain matchups for marth..other times like vs falco it's relatively safe unless they come out and take pretty big risks to edgeguard you.

You can only c-stick buffer dthrows, for whatever reason... I don't really use it.
