Best of 7, no bans, DSRm

Critique anyone? :D I did way better than last time. I stopped missing all my drillshine stuff, but I still have a lot of suboptimal punishes like using second drills or grabbing in certain scenarios. I'm particularly stumped on grabs. I did a lot more than the previous set which helped and I am already pretty comfortable with getting the single hit uair, but I just am never sure the best ways to force grabs out of neutral spacing. I also shield way too much and **** around on platforms way too much, but those are just some habits I need to work on. So yeah, any advice is appreciated.

sup guys
anybody wanna watch a few matches and give me some advice?

vs Sheik
vs Marth (1)
vs Marth (2)
vs Fox

(quality is good and i hope they're at least kinda fun to watch)
pick whatever you like

I've noticed quite a few times where I mindless run in and get ***** for it
also my edgeguarding is definitely not on point
any more advice appreciated, I really need to get better
Only watched Sheik so far:
Work on your drillshines, you're still missing too many.
You seem to have trouble punishing D-smashes. Just keep dashdancing outside and run in with an Up-smash or grab.
I think you should try to incorporate U-smash OoS more.
Learn how to get more out of grabs, like short hop U-air at low % instead of full hop.
For killing, jab into U-smash is more reliable than you might thank at 100-130%.

Other than that, I really like how you're playing this match-up, lots of dash dancing. Just practice more and play it smarter. Look at your match at Dreamland and then Pokemon Stadium. Keep what you did on Dreamland, the dash dancing.

EDIT: Oh and when recovering, try not to jump above the edge, like at the last stock last match, the D-air just smacks you. You can instead try to time a Firefox near the edge so you can sweetspot with that, bait the D-smash as well and punish, but you gotta do it right.

Vs Marth, it's easy for you, you gotta work on your spacing and punishment options. More grabs to punish.

ZeldaFreak:

Combo him harder. Grab, u-tilt, and uair are often better launchers than a second u-smash.

I find that ledgestalling once makes the timing for the ledgedash easier but you can get hit out of it. So you have to pick your moments for it.

He hit you mostly when he was defending with a retreat or evasion movement into some kind of counterattack so you need to either bait him (WD down, better dash dance, empty hop, etc) or overshoot more. Or outcamp him but I don't think you want to play like that just based off your matches.

Try to be less predictable when you're knocked over by drillshines. If possible, tech the shine. But if not... don't get up attack when he's not committed, etc.

Shine OOS, jump OOS, & WD OOS need a lot of work. His shield pressure style leaves a lot of chances for shines, jumps, or WDs. Try to spot those. Most obvious spot to do any of those three are on a waveshine.

Thanks KK, that's very helpful. I was the fox that you 4-stocked on FD and then we had a close-ish match on pokestad after, don't know if you remember. Wish we could have played more but I think everyone was pretty hyped about the matches happening. Next time, I guess. Thanks for the feedback!

People seem to only remember the 1 of 50 games they win.

But yeah zeldafreak, you need to utilize u-tilt dude. Also try using u-air when you have the opponent knoked down on a platform. You have a lot of heavy damage opportunities that you lose because you like n-air/b-air him towards the stage or something. You also wait too long on your ledge WDs and lose your invincibility. Sorry I can't timestamp due to random johns. But you tech chased Wes with n-air at like 0% on the second stock instead if drill.

There's many mistakes that Wes makes when trying to pressure your shield and you could really capitalize on them if you were being more aware. Like getting stuck in shine, air dodging in place, etc. you could grab these, but you still go for the shine/WD oos instead. There's a part where you u-throw -> u-smashed at like 35% and lost your combo for it. U-tilt would've net you more damage for sure. Not too long after that, you had him on the ledge and you weren't anywhere near him to put pressure on him. Especially because he ledge jumped by mistake, then was doing a lot of unsafe crap on the edge. If you simply jumped in with a n-air he probably would've died

In game 2 in the second stock, you u-throw -> u-smashed at like 30% on the right platform an should've lost your combo. But then you hit with a u-air running off the platform. Then threw away the combo by doing a b-air, sending him across the stage. You probably should've u-tilt / u-air. Something else you can try vs spacies, especially falco is after you hit a SH n-air while they're in the air around 30-50%, you can combo d-tilt most of the time. The reason it's somewhat reliable is because if you hit them in that position, they will most likely not DI down + away so you can combo it in a lot of MUs.

Towards the end of game 2 and all of game 3, you get ***** because he hits you when you are trying to jump when he is super close to you. Then that results to a death combo. Escaping the combo means you have to DI well, and not get tech chased predictably vs falco. Nothing else you can really do

I'll probably add more above this probably, but you really need to space around his b-airs and punish. He does a lot of auto cancel b-air attempting to wall you and sometimes he moves forward with it, which is so unsafe. Then game 2 and 3, he started to approach with SH n-air a lot but they hit you almost every time. Either CC, or don't get hit

Thank you! That's some pretty good stuff you compiled there :)

Game 3 had a lot of crouch cancel punishing by Westballz. (General question for everyone) This might be a little super theory bros but instead of doing the aerial like drill and getting cc'd, what about just shining him to get the knockdown instead? Maybe get a tech chase to grab or force him to the ledge while you take center stage? I get cc-punished by Falco a lot, what should I be doing?

No, just spacies...
Last week you got mad at my pichu because you tried to hit me with falco's falling dair and I utilted you and grabbed out of it.
Like friday you got mad because you were floating high with peach and my ICs went under you and utilted a bunch.
And of course, you get mad because you run into every single utilt i do as fox.
Soooo... You just rage at utilts.

The only rageworthy moments are when a Falco is just standing there with his back towards you and you still jump in and get U-tilted. Those are the worst brainfarts.
