yo, so like... my hands are ******** and don't listen to me...
apparently I'm unable to make myself SH out of shine quickly without tap jump...
I realized that i use tap jump to jc shines usually and decided to try and fix that... it didn't work very well...
for some reason, i can only full hop out of shine with the x/y buttons, unless i go hella slow (like to the point where it doesn't even matter if the shine is jc'd).
I thought that i'd fixed it for awhile, but it turned out i was still using tap jump and didn't realize it.

now i'm all mad and stuff.
are there any things i can do to make my hands listen to me more and have like... not lead thumbs?
I've been practicing this everyday for like a month now, btw...

Unknown should stream a let's play with me. For SSBM.

Really, I just mean we should play Melee because IMPULSE is coming up.

Aesir, just get used to moving from B to the jump buttons more effectively. You're still new so if you find another button input works better (if you're X right now, maybe try Y) it shouldn't be unreasonably hard to switch. Consider the standard claw - I love it for my FCs, ledgehop bairs, up smashes, and unlike Javi's I still have a finger near the Z button (so grabbing isn't a chore).

It's also possible you're just having bad days. Though you should still practice because bad days are a reflection of technical inconsistency (which can only be fixed by playing and figuring out better ways or doing your inputs or just building the muscle memory itself).

Also, remember to practice your stuff hitting people and not hitting people. The timings are different. Kill yourself periodically to refresh your moves (fresh vs stale can be really, really noticeable on stuff like bairs).

Jethrotex, read the Peach tactics thread in the Peach forum. I posted my Marth edgeguard strats. You should steal & improve on them once you get the hang of them (and maybe make your own if something clicks).

why would it be optimal to SH out of shine with Y and not analog? Is it just to make everything come back to Y for muscle-memory's sake?

I've always wanted to do a Let's Play. maybe I'll do TWEWY or Megaman Zero (which I've been playing the **** out of LOL. check da av) or something
YES! Both games are so legit. I've been speedrunning MMZ 1-3 as of recent actually.

Harpuia avatar?

a lets play with weon-x on commentary would be the quietest lets play ever lol
yeah i made this avatar with paint. lol.

toph im looking forward for that rematch ;)

im a based carroll fan <3 still duno what based means but i like it. about the lets play. we eventually beat the game on expert but it was hard as hell lol. green is a monster

I'm trying to learn all the glitches for oot. I've done the wrong warp to ganon's castle a few times, but I haven't done a full MST run. I want to speedrun it so bad (any% is easy. I'll probably be on the leaderboards soon for that).

give me a call I guess. Camilo is over at my house right now

edit: scratch that. No internet on my phone atm. Call camilo if needed

full MST run is really daunting to learn to run, it's like 3 hours long and there's like 1000 tricks you gotta get good at. i was pretty good at child dungeons which is a 50 min run/race that just beats all 3 dungeons as young link in any order. the route is pretty sick but i got lazy and never finised the later (easier) parts.

Super Metroid was really hard for me to complete, but it was really fun (though I never beat it).

yeah, child dungeons are pretty cool. I've never attempted a run myself yet, but I've watched a bunch.

I wanna do MST as my main one, but I'm gonna need a bit more time to get some of the tricks down (haven't even gotten to try the spirit hover yet).

I'm one of the few smashers that doesn't enjoy speedrunning it seems, it's no fun playing alone without anyone to compete against IMO ^^

Lovage/Silent Wolf/anyone, how do you shine-usmash?

why would it be optimal to SH out of shine with Y and not analog? Is it just to make everything come back to Y for muscle-memory's sake?
Tap jump makes it retardedly easy to jump out of shine asap. However, once you CAN use Y to jump out asap, you have a lot more control over the analog. I would consider Y better in the long run, but at the same token, I know someone who uses the analog for all their SHs, and on average they're a little faster at it than me.

press shine, then UP both sticks.
this is what i do and it werks for me

if you wanna learn it this way it might be a good choice. just practice on lv 1 foxs on dreamland lol.

learn how to punish mid-high% missed techs + techs in place with running shine usmash. it does more damage, often works better for positioning, and will kill really early on peach and sheik.

SUB-ADVICE:
learn how to FORCE people to miss their techs by using weird hitboxes or attacking at unexpected times. an unexpected fastfall bair + bad DI and missed tech on their part is an easy setup for shine usmash. sounds dumb/inconsistent but welcome to 99% of the ppl that play this game everyone sux it works a lot lol.

Yeah, I figured most people use the double sticks. I use tap jump + A cause I don't think I can go from B to up on the C-stick that fast. :/
