Someone really good at recovering will just wiggle -> airdodge or side-b before they fall far enough to die from it
Also, should've watched Mango Lucky Alex19 rapex2 because it was in there a few times I'm pretty sure
Or any variety of weak poke -> runoff shine

be gay. make your opponent hate their lives. don't just make it easy for them to do stupid **** to you. make them throw their controllers mid match.

ummm top level play can be gay for a buncha reasons but not because puff's are winning tournaments with ledge camping and falcon's are platform camping on every big level, the game can be gay against good players but the problems you have are usually really solvable and that's what makes the game fun.

i remember when s2j developed his own style of falcon that pretty much just spammed carefully spaced nairs i thought how gay melee has become, but after a few months of playing him i was able to develop a style that could deal with it really good. now i just see his nair strategy as part of the game that's easy to beat if you know what you're doing.

these kind of developments are usually really satisfying because it's a big part of what keeps melee alive and exciting, the fact that people's styles of play can develop drastically over time and there's always tons of options to deal with whatever is thrown at you.

I think a better way of putting it is, at high level, its easy to come up with things that are very difficult to counter.

I thought what he said was pretty different. That the gay stuff is beatable but you have to use ur head and thats what makes the game fun and interesting.

I was playing my friends last night and I knew what to do but my outputs weren't coming out. High level of gameplay gets me nervous. Any tips to keep your cool?

I mean, it took a long time for me to get over tournament nerves
Just like ... try to care less
Other than that, it's a skill you have to train just like any other (and unfortunately there's not much that simulates a tournament other than just playing in tournaments)

Unless you're just talking about like, playing against people
In which case you just have to play them some more
xD

I was watching some old tournaments last year and a lot of players seem to be intimidated by top players like Mango, e.t.c. It must be that good player fear. but il take your word and try to care less in my matches.

When I say care less I mean playing as if your the only one in the room playing smash. Ignore all distractions and then you can focus better and feel less nervous.

Not much is truly "unbeatable" in this game. It's just varied amounts of difficult and the risk/reward is often grossly in favour of the "gaying" player.

Do you* think it is possible to learn [character vs. character] to the point that the [player vs. player] is less significant??

you don't sound so sure. What if PvP just boils down to an amalgamation of experience inside the CvC. . .

I just mean that once each player knows the MU extremely well, then its pretty much player vs player. 2 players at equal skill...comes down to who plays the MU better. but when MU skill is equal then its the opposite (assuming equal MU skill balances out the character choices)

thats my opinion anyway. im also assuming we are talking about relatively equal MUs. if sheik could cg x character to 200 percent then neither skill or MU knowledge is as significant...that **** would be too 1 sided.

vs. people worse than you, they make so many mistakes with the way they play their character, it really just takes experience in the matchup to completely dominate them.

against people on your level or better than you, you have to really work hard to understand their style and find a style that can appropriately beat it.

imo characters matter less the high level of play we are discussing. I think any character matchup basically goes out the window once you start talking about the top ~20 in the world.

this is imo why u never see axe lose to spacies even of jman level. Matchup doesn't really matter at that point.

I mean, you're defining the high level in a skewed way though, so I can't really take what you say so seriously.
