And for Scorpion, the Japan thing has people just throw him out completely, in which while I completely understand why, I don't think it's just that simple and there are signs that WB Games and Nintendo perhaps talked about Smash.
Dude, I played my last Civilization 6 game just some hours ago and named my own religion MORTAL KOMBAT just for fun (complete with using the Scorpio astrology symbol as the religion's symbol, again just for fun):
Needless to say, I did not expect a poster here to write like - if I may be so bold and say it - a follower of that religion just hours after finishing said game. (If anyone wants to know how the full game went I'm ready to share, hoo boy it was bonkers.)
I get your enthuisasm, but please chill a little, okay?
Saw someone talking mortal kombat in smash seriously and it got me thinking about if there was any potential reason to believe that and I found this interview and I don't know about you guys but it seemed to me like ed boon got really uncomfortable when the guy was asking about smash to him and his answer is kinda fumbled compared to he other responses. I want to know what you guys think to

edit: keep in mind this was after the second pass was announced
TBF, it might be wise to hold your horses for a bit: the flustered response from Suda did turn out to be the Travis Mii.
Is it possible? Sure. But it could also be nothing essentially or NPC material in the end. (Not that I'd personally mind NPC material - MK getting even a Spirit event would be pretty hype for me personally).
So if Chun-Li or another character were to get in and they could Air Dash, would they break the meta game or would they just be really high up on the tier list?
It's very difficult to say obviously before the character's released because meta games and tier lists are by neccesity educated guesswork.
Air Dashes would in theory be great because they're another form of mobility, especially in a game like Ultimate where the airspace is emphasized. Mobile characters also tend to be thought of highly in competitive Smash (regardless of game -

) because they can punish whiffs, control space and use that mobility for other purposes. It's more important in competitive not only because money's on the line, but also since at that point people are proficient enough to punish even slight missteps.
On the other hand, air mobility is not the only reason why a character's considered good - most if not all those characters listed also have many ways to output pressure safely, and very good windows to safely get more mileage out of the opening as well as at least a decent recovery. Diddy (see below) has some great air mobility in Ultimate, but isn't considered a top-of-the-line character.
It's a decently safe bet, but not definitive.
Technically we already have air dashing in the form or Joker's aerial gun-side. By extension we also have air blocking in the form of aerial rebel's guard.
Those are TBF not the main reasons why Joker's considered a really strong character, but yeah, those are the closest to air-dashing.
B-Reversing (Pressing B and instantly reversing direction, which is precise) with certain characters can also be counted as an "Air Dash" of sorts since it keeps momentum:
