Fox boards came up with 50:50 vs diddy. It comes down to how well the fox can adapt and counter diddy's banana game. Fox has good tools against bananas. If a banana hits shine, it gets changed to fox's. Also, it is fairly easy to dash attack grab bananas with fox. Fox's illusion goes over them too, as long as fox starts illusion close to the bananas. The later part of his illusion does get interrupted by bananas though. Fox is more powerful than diddy, but diddy can gain momentum really fast. At the same time, Ive turned the tables against diddy and comboed them using their own bananas. Fox lives a long time here due to diddy's lack of kill moves, and if the diddy is smart he will live long as well. Ill write more later, but I believe the core of the matchup is who can control the bananas better.

Wrong with the kill moves, it's stupid that people think this about diddy. HE ISN'T SAMUS and he can kill quite decently--especially fox! Fox can die at 90 from a fresh fsmash or dsmash. Reflected banana throw > diddy's dash attack makes it almost pointless to reflect it when diddy spaces well. So fox has KO power over diddy, that usmash is deadly and his best bet on getting diddy out of the way but its hard for fox to approach diddy. Fox can't control the bananas too well though, he can pick them up with dairs or fairs but his banana game is somewhat small compared to diddy's handling skills. I will not say anything about advantages bc I honestly do exaggerate too much to be taken seriously--but fox is forced to go dair campy and his approaches are very risky. He can laser camp for a while, and then wait for an opening to attack. There is no sure-fire way fox can approach diddy safely.

The fox Diddy matchup is about 50:50.

My input:

Foxs can actually handle Diddy's bananas pretty good. his dash attack is good for picking them up and his speed basically allows him to pick one up that is lying around very speedily. He's got the laser to rack up some damage but he shouldn't have time to camp in this match-up. The reflector still has it's uses if the fox predicts a banana throw. However reflectors dont really dominate Diddy in the first place. If you know what your doing you should be able to get around it. Fox has great finishers as stated earlier. The drill to up-tilt doesn't rack up as much damage on Diddy as some others. At the end of the day Fox isn't too hard of a matchup, but if you let yourself think it'll be a breeze you'll see Diddy in the background of the stage around 90%.

I think Fox is 60-40 in Diddy's favor. His recovery is pretty predictable (don't talk about down b or faircopter, cause he's gonna eventually get to the stage by side b or up b. If he resorts to up b diddy can easily gimp fox because of the start up lag. The side B is gimped by peanuts, and bananas or you could hug the stage before Fox gets to it. The reflector is a problem, but if you start combo'g fox, its hard for em to get out. And even without bananas Dtilt and the dash attack can rack up damage.

On the other hand Fox can still gimp diddy with the down b if he is recovering from below the stage, but like everyone else said it's hard for Fox to approach to get that damage up.

For Kirby, I think its 40-60 but in Kirby's favor. Kirby's Fsmash has a lot of range, can get some easy kirbycides if you arent paying attention and can gimp with his dair. However, if you watch out for the Neutral b, Kirby can be gimped pretty easily with the barrels or dair.

The thing that really wrecks diddy is that Kirby can get really annoying in the air. Well spaced Bairs are extremely hard to punish, since they cancel the peanuts and they DI away from you after they bair so you can't Shield Grab. What I like to do is Glide toss my bananas up so kirby has more things to worry about and messes up their spacing. Dribbling also helps in this matchup to punish kirby as soon as he lands (if they do a bair) to a forward glidetoss.

Foxs shine isn't that useful against bananas, because Diddy can use his side B and just kick him if he uses it. Diddy can also use his dtilt while holding a banana and he could also fsmash with a banana in his hand. He can also jump, Z drop the banana in front of Fox and attack him with an aerial.

There's no way fox is 50-50 with Diddy...I mean come on. "I've turned the tables on them using their own bananas" ..."Fox is more powerful than Diddy"...."illusion doesn't get interrupted by bananas." Um. Ever character can use diddy's bananas, that doesn't change the fact that diddy has to screw up for you to get your hands on one. And miss a rocket-barrel counter bc I've never seen a glide-tossing Fox. "Fox is more powerful than Diddy"...That's an opinion not a reason or validation, and an incorrect one at that. If you often use illusion in a match against diddy you'll get punished. IMO this matchup is not even.

Let's go over IC's? I've only fought like three and it seems like a really in-depth matchup for both sides, I have no idea how to fight them other than just making one trip and grabbing. to separate them.

You might want to try posting a thread in the board of the character you're discussing. I just happened upon this by chance.

The Kirbies discussed Diddy a few weeks ago, and came up with this:

Advantage (60-40)

:diddy:[Diddy Kong]

Discussion: Page 23 to page 25 and Matchup Thread Export

Overview:
Donkey Kong's whimsical little pal joins the Brawl for the first time. He can fly real high with his jetpack on, with his pistols out, he's one tough Kong, Huh! DK. Donkey Kon... *ahem* Diddy's prime asset is his Bananas, used to disrupt and interrupt, break combos and combo, and a plethora of other things. He also has a very effective dash attack, a well-rounded set of aerials, and fairly powerful smashes. You'll need to watch out and play smart if you want to win this match.

Pros+Cons:
+Can wall cling and crawl
+Quick speed overall and generally fast attacks
+Banana peels that hinder the foe's manoeuvrability and create a glide toss option
+3 spikes: D-air, Rocketbarrel Spike, and Monkey Flip
+Ground moves, especially dash attack, combo well
+Large grab range and powerful throws
+Long-ranged, versatile recovery in Side-B and Up-B

-Lack of low-percent kill moves, forcing a reliance on spikes to kill early
-Moderately lightweight
-If Diddy hits a wall when recovering with Up-B, he falls into helpless mode and takes damage

Watch out for:
Bananas - Diddy's bread and butter move. He can have up to 2 out at a time, and they cause tripping on contact, even when you try to roll around them. You always need to watch out for them, and keep in mind that you can pick them up and steal them. Unfortunately, Kirby can't glide toss, so that sucks

F-smash and D-smash– Primary kill moves

Dash attack – Combo starter, and it automatically picks up bananas

Face Hump – The Monkey Flip is incredibly annoying overall

F-air – Diddy's favourite aerial. Good power and speed

U-air – Diddy's aerial killer

D-air – Powerful spike

D-tilt – It pisses me off

How to win:
Stay in the air – Bananas can't trip in the air. Stay up there and you'll be fine. Also, Kirby in general beats out Diddy in the air, so try to get him there and start juggling

Be patient – This match is a test of willpower. Both Diddy and Kirby excel defensively in this matchup, so they both like camping. It helps that neither has a spammable projectile

Gimp him– It isn't all that hard to, even though his Up-B is very long-ranged

Stay defensive – Kirby can camp Diddy! Use ff'd b-airs to keep him at bay, and slowly rack damage on

Pick up bananas with Dash Attack – Your dash attack, like most, can pick up Diddy's bananas. Its the safest way to commandeer the nanerz

Spit out or Swallow?
Diddy's peanuts are meh, keeping the Kirbycide option open would be better.

What NOT to do:
Lose momentum – Diddy is incredibly momentum-based. He can easily get 50% on you in one go if given the chance, or he could set up a banana lock into F-smash if you aren't careful. Keep him on his toes and don't let up.

Get banana locked – The banana lock is pretty much Diddy glide tossing a banana towards you, then glide tossing another one, then glide tossing the first one, and so on. The effect is that of an inescapable banana barrage. Smash DI and roll away asap.

Stay grounded – You're just asking for a banana to the face.

Get comboed – It's hard enough for Diddy to combo as it is. Don't let him use his second biggest asset.

Stages (in order of priority):
Norfair – Messes with his banana game like mad, and forces him in the air
Rainbow Cruise – See Norfair. Also, you're Kirby. Put two and two together
Skyworld – A stage that Diddys in general dislike
Frigate Orpheon – See Skyworld
Battlefield – Your preferred neutral. Diddy </3 platforms

Final Destination– Too much ******* flat land!
Smashville – See Final Destination
Pokemon Stadium 1 – Watch for this counterpick

Synopsis:
Diddy is a major momentum character. He can put tons of damage on you while going untouched, or you can do the same to him. Rarely is it a compromise between the two. Watch out for the naners and stay in the air as much as possible. Ban Final D at all costs. Remember, this match can get very tedious and campy, so stay patient and calm. And, above all, win. *He's back again, and about time too. And this time, he's in the mood*

Major Contributors: MK26, Fromundman, ~Shao~
As for the Gonzo combo, it's more for heavies like Bowser and fast-fallers such as Fox; the version used for lighter characters is fairly escapable, even though there are a million different variations on the theme. The name of the game is improvisation - we have to out-think you to continue the combo.

And though it's fairly poor, we do have a projectile in Final Cutter. Don't forget that.

Thats a pretty good summary MK26. Only thing you might want to reconsider is the counterpick selection. A lot of Diddy players do not mind BF at all due to it's small size and easy z-catching opportunities.

forgot to add diddy has a hard azz time edgeguarding kirby or even hitting him in the air........air camping is annoying. Also the fact kirby gimps him and has a very good KO game. Diddy edgeguarding is his good side.....except he kinda cant without takin a risk or being creative about it. Kirby on the otherhand.......yea......edgeguards kinda easy. All he has to do is put himself a little under or to the side of the ledge and spam attacks.

Oh i wanted to add something to the fox stuff. Am i the only one that lets the Phantasm hit me so i could Barrel Blast? Put a banana down and charge up-b. They trip into teh barrel LMAO

I have to say if kirby air camps it can be a tough match for diddy as kirby ***** diddy in the air. However he has to land. Once u get them tripping get your combos going. Once he gets back in the air wait reset and repeat. Thats usually how i go when fighting a kirby.

sonic hereosssss, sonic herosss.
you dont even need bananas in this match, well maybe some but not like you would in a usual match, they shouldnt be too relied on here, diddy can handle himself perfectly fine without them.

Ddddddtilt.
I can't tell if you're joking or serious, for once a matchup where a character's DTilt could actually pose a real problem for Sonic.

Even if you're joking, good stuff.

I'm not so much in favor of both boards discussing the other character at the same time, what if something comes with within a couple of weeks (don't doubt, even if Brawl is shallow) and that might actually deteriate the old boards' comprimise.

I also think ChromePirate is giving Diddy too much credit back at the Sonic boards, you can go take a look at our thread and see for yourself wather you agree or disagree with him.

I should warn you though, if you think he's right, I/any other Sonic boarder might/will test your credibility/debating skills.

Jigglymaster (Diddy) vs Boku (Sonic) Ladder match

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_-5AKzfhlc

Yea, Diddy vs Sonic is very, very boring. Nobody dies and the time goes till the very end. Sonic can glide toss back and has great recovery. However Sonic can't kill and Diddy lives to %'s that you'd never think he'd ever reach. I agree with Chromo here with the 55-45 in Diddy's favor.

Boku sucks, he's infamous on the AiB for johning and stalling the match until the end.

If that were me instead, I would be all over you and I would actually switch up my game here and there/take control of nanerz.

I still don't see where you people are coming up with the 5 point advantage, are you ashamed to say that you go even with a bad character or something?
