Beatrix Lebeau (Slime Rancher)
A bit of an odd one. Beatrix would fight with a trusty slime by her side, acting similarly to Luma. Not only that, she could also change the breed of the slime, giving it different abilities. And with the ability to crossbreed, the possibilities are staggering. Slime Rancher is also one of the more popular "Farm-Style" games out there right now. And Beatrix has the most potential out of all the characters in my eyes.

StereoMadness.png

Stereo Madness (Geometry Dash)
Pretty simple. Just Stereo Madness from Geometry Dash as a scrolling stage. Only two things to note are that it's slightly slower than the regular game and that a bunch of ships that fly up and down and act like platforms come out during the ship segments.

Fighter Submission:
Impostor (Among Us)

Impostor is a villain from Indie mobile game Among Us released in 2018 and gained insane popularity during september 2020.
Impostor is an Alien from unknown species (Presumably Impostors) that invades human properties and has ability to shape-shift or crawl in the vents. He always shapeshift into random colored Crewmate to be unnoticed by other crewmates, otherwise if he gets voted, the Impostor gets ejected from Ships, Bases and other space structures into outer space.

His moveset would be based on Among Us, like he could use knife, Gun or even his tongue. He has ability to shape-shift into other opponent and even he could create vents to crawl through them, making him undetected by fighters.
Although, if he had full moveset in the game, it would be based on Rivals of Aether moveset and BrawlFan1's moveset.
He could be Middleweight character with double jumps and no additional moveset options.

I nominate Impostor, because his game was successful in 2020 and it became a cult following game. Also, Mobile game representation would be nice and unique.
Also, Impostor could have wonderful moveset in the game and his aesthetic could fit in the fighting game.

Stage:
Limbo/Dark Forest (Limbo)

Limbo is main location of self-titled game. It's a place, where everything is Dark and monochromatic and the protagonist needs to get out from the dark place by solving puzzles. Also the Limbo is taking place at edge of heck/Underworld (Fun Fact: "Limbus" in Latin means "Edge").

As a stage, it would side scrolling stage that it has monochromatic aesthetic reminiscing of Donkey Kong Coutry tropical freeze levels like Busted Bayou, where foregrounds and possibly character are colored black.
The Hazards are Monsters like Giant Spider and puzzles that act as a trap for Players.
The map would allow you to travel through locations from Limbo game like forest and others.

I nominate Limbo, because the stage based on the game could be very unique, since the aesthetic of having black Foreground and gray background could make the stage look more interesting with shadowy stuff on the stage.
Besides that, Limbo was popular back in early 2010's and it's now lesser-known indie title that deserves to be represented in Allstar Strife!

An extremely obvious and iconic indie character. Her moveset can involve shapeshifting into her various animal forms. She's been listed as one of the most greatest video game heroines on many lists and is the mascot for WayForward. She still is very popular today in the indie world.

Stage Submission:

Office (Five Night's at Freddy's)

The fighters will be shrunk down to fight on the desk. The animatronics are stage hazards and can inflict damage on the fighters if one is startled by them.

Fighter: Quote (Cave Story)

Quote is from Cave Story, a game that showed the world how much could be accomplished by a single game developer. Daisuke Amaya, a.k.a. “Pixel”, developed Cave Story on his own over the course of a five year period before releasing it as a freeware game in 2004. He handled everything from the coding to the writing to the music, completing the game in his free time. Given that the game was compared to then-modern Castlevania and Metroid games (the ones on the Game Boy Advance, at least) in terms of scope, it showed that independent developers had what it took to make games that could be held up alongside games by studios like Nintendo or Konami as shining examples of their genre.

Cave Story takes place in the underground Mimiga Village, home to the rabbit-like Mimiga, and the surrounding area. The player controls Quote, a quiet humanoid being with amnesia. When the Doctor, a man using an ancient relic called the Demon Crown, kidnaps the Mimigas for use as slaves and test subjects, Quote sets out through the island’s many caves to put a stop to the Doctor and his minions.

His moveset could involve various weapons and items that he uses throughout the game, such as his Polar Star pistol, the Booster jet pack, a missile launcher, fireballs, a sword, or a bubble gun, among many other items. He'd likely lean towards being a projectile-heavy character, but appearances in games like Blade Strangers have given him plenty of melee attacks to work with.

Stage: Pridemoor Keep

I don't think anyone's submitted a Shovel Knight stage yet, so I will. One of the earliest stages in the game, Pridemoor Keep has been taken over by King Knight and gilded out in all sorts of gaudy colours. Chandeliers could act as platforms, while various Shovel Knight enemies like griffons, animated suits of armour, or rat-copters could serve as hazards.

Job #3: Frisk (UNDERTALE)

(Render by MutationFoxy on DeviantArt!)

Frisk is the protagonist of UNDERTALE, an indie RPG which has taken the world by storm since its release in 2015. While the game and its follow-up Deltarune have no shortage of characters who would be prime fighting game material, why not start with the main protagonist?

Job #4: Merchant Port (Rivals of Aether)

Merchant Port is Orcane's home stage in Rivals of Aether, and is a common starter stage for competitive play. It serves a similar role in All-Star Strife, with its hazardless version being a great place to learn the basics of the game. If you turn stage hazards on, the center platforms will rotate as the wheel in the background spins.
Job 3: Cuphead
View attachment 346726
Pretty obvious pick but he's a popular character that I think could work well in a platform fighter so why not?
Job 3

William Afton (Five Night's at Freddy's)

(AKA Springtrap, AKA Scraptrap, AKA, GlitchTrap, AKA Burntrap)

He Always comes back, William Afton is the main villain of the FNAF Franchise, A Franchise with no creator whatsoever, He would be a very vicious character and has some interesting potential for a moveset

Horror is an important genre in the indie scene

Job 4

Saturnian Palace (Slap City/Princess Remedy)

Slap City is a platform fighter that had some decent popularity and this is a stage represents one of Ludosity's other games.

You can't prove anything.
Fighter: Anton Ball and Annie Bell (Antonball)

If an indie crossover doesn't have Literal Whos, it's not an indie crossover - just Smash with a low budget. Anton and Annie would likely be alternate costumes and fight by keeping an Antonball out at all times they can manipulate by attacking it and creating traps that interact with it.

Stage: Duel Grounds

This would be based on Smash Flash 2's version of Battlefield. Sneaky fangame rep!
Smash Flash 2 would be referred to as merely "Super Flash 2" The Smash Ball would be changed to a McLeodGaming fist.

Peacock (Skullgirls)
We already have a fighting game character, but Skullgirls and Rivals are very different games. Went with Peacock since I think she would be more interesting for this kind of game than a character like Filla due to her wacky off the wall personalty.

View attachment 346741
Celeste Mountain (Celeste)
Players fight through the mountain from the game of the same name. It's a sort of traveling stage, with various characters from the game making cameos. The layouts are pretty simple, but feature hazards taken from the original game.
Hat Kid

One of the more recent indie games but still popular nonetheless, it's Hat Kid! She would use attacks from her different hats and badges. I pretty much just chose Hat Kid because I really like her. Plus, she's a cult-classic, which is a recurring trope in crossover fighting games.
View attachment 346729
Isaac

My boi Isaac would be a perfect fit for this game, an early celebrity in the Indie Boom of the early 2010s, Isaac would be a great addition along the likes of shovel night, he would act as a mostly projectile and zone styled fighter using stuff like his tear shots, bombs, creep trail, and other attacks he has to annoy and pester the opponent

View attachment 346730
Plus he is muh boi

View attachment 346731
Basement
Isaac's introductory stage would be randomly generated like his game, but there would always be a pit in the center, after being chased by Isaac's mom she has her eyes looks around the area and if she catches a glimpse of you she would do one of several actions

She would drop her foot down with her signature stomping attack which can stun
View attachment 346732
Summon Monstro who scatters bloody spread from his mouth
View attachment 346733
Summon Baby Plum who uses a stream of projectiles to push to opponent back
View attachment 346734
Summons The Bloat to shoot his infamous brimstone beams which can hit though walls at the nearest player
View attachment 346735

Has a brimstone beam shoot though her eye

Summon hearts which can heal anyone who grabs them
Job 3:Meat Boy (Super Meat Boy)

Meat Boy is the protagonist from Super Meat Boy, his mission is save his girlfriend Bandage Girl (wow, what an "original") and defeat Dr. Fetus. Super Meat Boy is a classic indie game, created by Newgrounds and there some other classic indie characters as CommanderVideo from Bit.Trip and The Kid from i Wanna Be The Guy
Job 3: Captain Viridian (VVVVVV)

The Villi Captain of the DSS Souleye, Viridian found himself and his crew members scattered around the strange VVVVVV Dimension following a crash... however, with his optimistic spirit (and his ability to manipulate gravity,) he nonetheless set off - hoping to save his friends in the process!

In terms of gameplay, I do think there's a surprising amount of stuff to work with. Observing, for example, Indie Pogo, various aspects from VVVVVV itself are implemented into his moveset - which would be a clever way of representing the game as a whole! Not only this, but I think that it would be clever to really experiment with his gravity manipulation abilities, going a little wild with them. As you can imagine, he'd be a tricky character to deal with - having a surprising amount of aerial options and manouverability, but somewhat struggling to really land meaty hits on opponents.

Job 4: Canabalt.

Whilst Canabalt's Runner might not be such an interesting character to work with, the unique, almost oppressing aura of Canabalt's world would make for a wonderful stage. Set on the rooftops of the city, and overlooking the grey skyline, it's almost quaint - birds will perch on the rooftops and hop around, as well as flying away if you get too close. Of course, there's also stage hazards in the form of ships that fall from the sky, smacking into the ground (though with a little icon indicating where they'll hit.) They deal massive damage on contact - making the stage perilous to battle atop... but also slightly picturesque.
ZERO (Katana Zero)
View attachment 346750
(Fanart by Ranveld on Reddit)
Zero
is the main character of Katana Zero, released in 2019. It was developed by Justin Stander (who also worked on Tower Of Heaven if you're familiar with that). It's a 2D sidescrolling action game where you play as a war veteran turned assassin skilled with both his katana and the mysterious ability to slow time around him to a crawl. In All-Star Strife, Zero would be a glass canon, referencing the one-hit kill and one-hit death structure of Katana Zero.
Not much other than that. Katana Zero is a really fun game, and Zero would be cool to have (maybe we could do something a little more creative for his time manipulation than just giving him a counter).

  1. Anton Ball (gotta have the "literally who's?" on the roster. Plus, as an Anton I feel legally required to vote him)
  2. Quote (Kind of lost relevance recently I think, and that's why he's so high. For some reason despite being so important to the gaming industry he hasn't been in anything recently so I think him being here would be great)
  3. Cuphead (hasn't been in a platform fighter with a unique moveset, and I think he'd be great in one. Plus he'd definitely be popular enough to draw attention to this game, which by proxy would hopefully get people to play Antonball!)
  4. Beatrix Lebeau (Unique fighter, plus I liked Slime Rancher)
  5. Suguri (Self-Vote. Personal most wanted in an indie-crossover fighter)
  6. Impostor (popular enough to draw attention, which by proxy means more people get to know about Antonball!)
Stages:
  1. Celeste Mountain (the best way to represent Celeste is by the mountain, and Celeste should get represented)
  2. The Office (AHH!!!)
  3. Merchant Port (Easy transition to a fighting game, it's pretty great)
  4. Duel Grounds (I love non-specified Flash game 2)
  5. The Arena (Self-Vote. Loved the game the little time I played it)
  6. Basement (Loved Binding of Isaac, Isaac unfortunately was beaten out by the other 6 fighters imo but I still would love rep and the Basement would be great)

Character:

1. Shantae (I said this in the Fraymakers thread, but if there was a Mount Rushmore for indie titles, I feel like Shantae would be on it)
2. Frisk (while I'd prefer Sans if we got an Undertale character, I do feel like Undertale should be in here)
3. Peacock (I haven't gotten too deep into Skullgirls, but she seems like she'd be a lot of fun)
4. Hat Kid (I literally just wrote a moveset for her for Fraymakers; I'd love to see her in a game like this)
5. Quote (self-vote; I've already explained my reasons in my nomination)
6. Isaac (tough call between Isaac, Meat Boy, Cuphead, the Impostor - most of the line-up, really)

Stage:

1. Merchant Port
2. Celeste
3. Saturnian Palace
4. The Basement

1. Quote. (I feel like, aside from maybe Shovel Knight, Quote is the quintessential indie character at this point. He's got plenty of possible moves given his game's MetroidVania gameplay, he's got the history behind him, he's got a supportive creator... I mean, this just seems to be a genius pick. A small part of me was a little surprised he wasn't locked in with the other two - seriously, that's how important he is to indie games.)
2. Peacock. (Skullgirls is an obvious addition to, well, an indie fighting game, and I think Peacock would represent the rubberhose-style pretty well. Sure, she might not be the only rubberhose-style character on the list, but she'd be cool dammit!)
3. Frisk. (I think Undertale would be really fun to implement in the form of a fighting game somehow, especially with the various mechanics. Whilst Sans might seem like a more obvious choice to some, I think Frisk is pretty neat to see here! One thing - I'd love to see them having an alt based on Varik, the protagonist of the EarthBound Halloween Hack - oh, and one for Kris too!)
4. Meat Boy. (I think it'd be really cool if he could use the buzz saws as projectiles. Aside from that, he'd be so fun to see here - and an alt based on Super Tofu Boy would be really funny to see here.)
5. Shantae. (I think her ability to switch between various animals, as well as her prehensile hair, would make her a really fun addition to the game! I mean, who wouldn't want to be able to transform into an elephant on like, the FNAF desk or something? That aside, she's also just overall a cool character to see here. ROTTYTOPS ALT OR BUST)
6. Cuphead. (He's not too high up my list, but I still think he'd be cool to see here! He's got plenty of potential - I just feel like he's not my cup of tea. Pun absolutely intended. No disrespect, he'd be cool to see - that's why he's here!)

1. Celeste Mountain. (It just feels really obvious, but in the best kind of way. Celeste is a beautiful game, plus it'd be really nice to see the visual of... well, a mountain here! It's a pretty cool setting that I think would be nice to see.)
2. Duel Grounds. (I think it's a genius move to include some SSF2 representation in here, and though it'd need some minor alterations to remove references to copyrighted material in the form of the logo, I think it'd be a nice stage to see here overall. Not too crazy or over-the-top, just simple and fun!)
3. The Office. (I was on the fence at first, but I think the idea of the players fighting on the desk would just be too fun a visual to avoid. I can imagine that MatPat would make like, 19 videos suggesting that a small detail on the stage "solves" FNAF lore too, so sure - why not!)
4. Stereo Madness. (I'm not particularly a fan of Geometry Dash, but I'll admit that the overall style of it - having an almost ravey feel - would be really cool to see here. I do worry that it being a scrolling stage might hurt it, but if we can turn off stage hazards, it should be okay.)
5. Pridemoor Keep. (I'd love to see a Shovel Knight stage here in some capacity, as it's kind of a necessity. Whilst my own bias would point me to say I'd prefer Propeller Knight's Flying Machine to make an appearance, Pridemoor is an obvious and clever choice that isn't just "grassy fields" like the Plains would be - I'd say it's pretty solid!)
6. Canabalt. (Self-vote, but I think it'd be a pretty cool, unique take on stages as a whole. Having the glass-shatter effect upon entry would be fun to see, and I think the really oppressing feel would make it a interesting take on a stage for what I imagine will otherwise be an orphan series.)

I guess mah boi isnt getting it
The good thing about these threads is that most of the time, there's going to be other chances to nominate a character, boss, stage, or other concept if they don't get in the first time. (plus, this was the first nomination period and it was left completely open, so there's a ton of competition that might not apply if there's an "add a rogue-like character" round later or something else where Isaac applies)

Heck, I've nominated Jubileus from Bayonetta as a boss twice in the Sega Smash thread, and I'll likely do that a third time whenever it comes up.

Pretty much nailed it on the head; I wanted to go with an open one so people could get their most wanteds out of the way, but future character jobs will be more specific, and Isaac fits in nicely with some of the plans I have for them. We've still got 16 fighter slots to go (sans any theoretical DLC)

Voting is now closed! Please welcome our first six voted-on fighters; Frisk, Cuphead, Quote, Shantae, Anton, and Peacock!

In addition, our first six stages overall have been decided; Celeste Mountain, Merchant Port, Duel Grounds, The Office, Dark Forest, and Stereo Madness!

All of this information has been added to the Google Doc.

Now then, onto our next batch of jobs!

Job #5: Celeste Mountain music
Since it won the most points during voting, Celeste Mountain will be the focus of our first music job! Please select six songs that you think would work for the stage; Songs sourced from the game/series the stage hails from, whether they be the originals or remixes, are allowed, with other songs being considered on a case-by-case basis. Voting will be done by list, meaning that your six songs will all be counted as one "entry" into the job rather than voting on each individual song.

Job #6: Mode submissions
What's a video game without game modes? Stock and timed matches from Smash have been carried over, but now it's your turn! Please suggest a new mode; It may be based on another platform fighter or be entirely original. However, said mode must be reliant on the game's normal stages, meaning that modes such as Smash Run are not eligible for this job.

Job #7: Item submissions
As our last job for this wave, please submit an item for the game. A subsitution for the Smash Ball and Assist Trophy items will be automatically entered into this job, and will be voted on alongside user-submitted items. (Specifics would be decided on if the items get into the game.)

Due to the number of jobs, you will have until Tuesday evening to submit entries. Have fun!

Celeste Mountain Music
Mode Submission: Treasure Tussle
Inspired by Shovel Knight and the coin mode from Smash, this mode has various gems and treasure drop from fighters upon taking damage. Touching treasure will cause it to be added to your Gold tally. Being KO'd will cause a good chunk of your Gold to fly out in a winged bag, allowing anyone to steal it for themselves. Be sure to snatch as many riches as you can, as whoever has the most at the end of the match wins!

Item submission: Freddy Plush (Five Nights at Freddy's)

This fuzzy little guy is similar to the Gooey Bomb from Smash; You can throw it at your opponents, causing it to attach to them. After being out for a short time, the Freddles from Five Nights at Freddy's 4 will suddenly swarm the plush, rapidly damaging its unlucky holder!

Job 5
1. Confronting Myself
2. Prologue
3. Resurrections
4. Scattered and Lost
5. First Steps
6. Mirror Temple (Mirror Magic Mix)

Job 6
Horde Rush

A combination of multi-man smash and Smash Run, you would have to fight off waves of unique enemies

Job 7

Bar of Soap (DUSK)

DUSK is a boomer shooter made by David Szymanski and published by New Blood and has become quite popular in the boomer shooter community.

This would be an item that you can pick up and throw. once it hits an enemy it immediately KOs them if they are over 100%.

Item Submission: Legendary Hero (Undertale)
1646619385549.png

It’s a sandwich shaped like a sword. Eating it restores 30% of your damage and gives you a temporary 1.5x attack power buff! Eating it produces the same sound effect it makes in Undertale.

Disc Gun (Nuclear Throne/Super Crate Box)

This "beloved" gun would shoot a razor sharp disc at a not quite straight angle that damages fighters. It can also ricochet off walls and damage the original fighter.

Mirror Temple (Mirror Magic Mix)
Celestial Resort (Good Karma Mix)
Reach For The Summit (starts at 8:00)
Confronting Myself
Beyond The Heart

Mode Submission: Tetherball

You can hit the ball when its on your side, and the goal is to wrap up the ball on the opponent's side of the pole. How fast the ball goes depends on the strength of the attack it is hit with. Pretty much taken straight from Rivals. Playing this mode on bigger stages will mean a taller pole, a longer string, etc.

Item Submission: Teleporter (Henry Stickman)

Henry Stickman is a flash based point-and-click adventure series by PuffballsUnited. This item, when used, will teleport your fighter to a random point on the stage, which could get you in a really good position or just straight up kill you. Who knows? Only one way to find out!

Just as a friendly reminder, submissions for Celeste Mountain music, modes, and items close later today (probably in ~8 hours).

In addition, I have a very exciting announcement; After we vote for the above items, we will be holding our first moveset jobs tomorrow!
