Shielding tornado sounds like a horrible idea since it eats shield, lasts forever, and pokes through. Avoid it/laser it/reflector it seems like the best options to me.

I SDI up and away.

I usually save my jump, so I just wait and jump at the ledge. Or jump > air dodge. Or whatever option is safest out of jump.

can anyone pin point an exact reason why falco's tier status isn't being validated through tournament rankings? Is it just the fact that a majority of players simply aren't putting him to use? Or is it a culmination of other things?
There really is no exact reason. The biggest thing is lack of usage and skill. Very few people use Falco to the best of his ability. I would say that about no more than a dozen people right now, attend the large tourneys and place well. Most all seem to be on the west coast and only able to attend a few of the large tourneys across the nation. While there are dozens and dozens of other people to represent Snake, Wario, DDD, MK, etc.

does anybody do the guaranteed 0-death on Japes?

the one where you CG> spike into water (left side) then fall down yourself at the right time and laser to interrupt them from getting out? (then recover yourself of course)
Never do. I could never time it right, so I gave up on it and resorted to Bair guarding and egdehogging to finish them off.

The chaingrab to Klap Trap is soooooo much sexier than the waterspike, and I'm working at getting consistent with that.

Although I've seen people survive the Klap Trap sometimes. What's up with that?
People can seriously DI the trap a lot easier than the spike. I can DI normally and hit the stage in time to tech, I am just so surprised with the trap I fail to tech. I believe the trap also sends them to a greater degree under the stage to recovery a lot easier.

Quick question regarding MK.

While MK is using tornado, what do you guys usually do if he is approaching you? Usually I shield and as torando is about to close to finishing, I roll away.
I always shield if it is in close range. If not, and I see it coming a mile away, I'll try to SHDL or reflect. But that is a bad match up I have personally so I prefer to use CP snake against him.

Shielding works, you just have to make sure you don't eat 2 tornados in a row or else you will lose the shield. Also to prevent poking you have to angle the shield upwards. I see so few people do this when I use MK.

I often find myself fullhop shining through the Tornado.
I need to do that more often. I typically SHDL most often, but remember to use the shine occasionally.

That is because you can use any aerial to momentum cancel. For vertical all you have to do is FF an aerial. The FF is the most important part of vertical momentum canceling, so that is why any aerial can be used. For horizontal momentum cancelling you want to use the fastest aerial and 2nd jump. That is' falco's best method horizonally. FFing here really doesn't do anything. And Bair happens to be Falco's fastest aerial. But for simplistic purposes most people use C-stick down since that always does a FF with Dair. And Dair is like falco's second fastest aerial. So it's an okay substitute for Bair on horizontal momentum canceling.

So how do you change the length of the phantasm btw?
Try to edit posts if you have more to say if your post is the last one instead of using another post. Just pointing that out.

There is a very narrow window in the phantasm start up where if you press the "special" button, it'll cancel the phantasm to that length. The window is about 3 frames big if I remember the frame data correctly. And each frame will cancel the phantasm to the specific length: 3/4, 1/2, pretty much no length at all.

Don't think so. I think he meant that they don't go all the way to the blast zone and end up floating back up.

The Klap Trap probably forgot to brush/floss that day or something.
The Klap Trap is hurt worse than whoever is getting spiked. Sensitive teeth and all.

Has a standing Chain grab/Chain throw with Falco been discovered?

OH MY GAWD. I'm sorry, but I need to flame you!!! (I won't though)

You DI towards the stage with both sticks upon impact.
you don't need to DI to tech a stagespike
the fact that it is a stage spike=techable........
if you tech then tap away from the wall you will walljump tho

Nope. Don't ask about it.
Hey, I wouldn't go and say that. Falco does have standing CGs against a few people, but the situations are limited. For one, Falco has it against the fast fallers, if I recall. Shiek, wolf and fox, but they pretty much have to be buffered. So it is easier to just walk CG them instead. Also, if you BPG pikachu, TL or DDD so you slide to the very edge of the stage, you can stand CG them for awhile before they do the whole splat thing. Easiest to LL pikachu, DDD and TL from the splat on pictochat. So I typically try to CP against them on pictochat if I am using falco still and JJ was banned.

Can't you DI in a way that will allow you to land on the stage itself instead of having to resort to teching? I swear I remember SK92 mentioning that sometime ago.

Yes, yes I do. That's how I've always done my retreating lasers.

I rather reverse them, as random phantasms (doesnt happen that often :p) are often a positive thing seeing that nobody sees it coming.

Unpredictability = instawin
But Phantasming off the stage accidentally = instafail.

It's up to you whether or not you want to take the risk.

I don't B-Reverse anything lol, it's really easy for me since I have Melee tech skill to just jump, press opposite direction then press B. I get less double height SHDLs that way but that's a matter of control that I just need to learn.

I never forced myself to learn the reverse lasers. I've always been doing RARing SHDL. I actually started learning reverse lasers because I would input the buttons for RARing SHL too fast! Lol.

Reversed lasers are easier than RAR lasers for me, haha.

I don't remember what B-reversal means...

When you Switch Sides or Switch Sides + Momentum.

I hate the momentum one, why approach wif SHL when you can't do anything up until you hit the floor.
(Don't worry I know it cancels, but after playing against Marth for months now, it has become a risk I can't take anymore.)

The first one is B-reversal, the second one is Wavebouncing.
Wait, so wavebouncing is the one where you turn around and fire your lasers, but you still keep momentum going in the direction your initial dash was before you turned around?

I ask because that's the one I use, a lot.

No, that's a B-reversal. Wavebouncing shifts your momentum in the direction of the special, so if you turn the lasers around, you start moving back in that direction.

Ahh I see.

I don't get why you'd want to wavebounce though...
I wanna keep as much distance and pew pew as possible. XD

I'm not even a campy Falco either.

Well the extremely show-offy Falcos can ledgedrop -> walljump -> Wavebounce Double Lasers to have the momentum shift carry them onto the stage.

It makes it look like you know what you're doing.
