I had already played sheik and marth and fox for YEARS in melee before i even started tournaments. I legitimately really enjoy those characters. I should have done what DrPP, Armada, Hbox did, and just focused on one. Besides me and Mango, the best success seems to be focusing on one character all the way.
well fair enough, you can still use mk man, just not in unity ruleset tournaments
and with the amount of hate uity typically gets its likely there will still be a nice amount with him legal
failing that, move to a different country which have universally decided to not ban mk

Skill transfers. It's just about knowing the other character(s) in depth.

Armada's YL. My Fox and Marth(which you played). Axe's Falco. Etc.

i'm not against your point, but i don't think you gave the best examples. Armada's YL is pretty clear, it's against one specific opponent in one specific matchup, it's not like he's using this character to compete throughout a tournament. You never use your fox or marth in tournaments that matter. Axe is a weird exception, since he plays a character nobody is used to at all. That pared with playing falco the whole time throughout his smash journey and being really technical.

also i know axe is amazing, but he's definitely not on the level of the very top competitors, which i assume is what m2k is referring to.

Azen was possibly the 2nd best player in the world for over a year after Brawl's release. I'm sad he disappeared.

He was actually gone from that for a good while too but I heard he recently came back to it a couple month ago along with Chillin. I should have worded that sentence better as in disappeared from the Brawl scene.

I saw 0 drama at Genesis regarding wobbling which was legal, and the best two IC's in the world attended.

Banning something because a couple of people wine is really unfair.

Edit: In fact I actually recall people chanting when someone was wobbled, they were having fun with it.

did you see how much work wobbles did in crews, through wobbling? Sure people cheered, because they wanted to see their region beat east coast.

"Banning something because a couple of people wine is really unfair."

i am pretty sure the group whining, are the majority. Last time i can recall, when they allowed wobbling at a national, 2 of the top 9 were IC mains. clearly it was wobbles and fly but it has large, large influence.

Wobbles has even gone as far to say that he didn't wanna wobble in a certain tournament because ALL of his focus goes from playing the matchup, to getting a wobble.

i honestly think the entire crew battle at GEN2 would have gone down much differently had wobbling been banned.

Unfortunately, the mass majority has said differently to us. You are in a small handful of 5~ people who have asked to have it on. Most people who asked us about it, before the rules were posted, insisted heavily that it be banned. I can't say that I care either way, but until we get a significant amount of backing for the allowance of it, it's going to stay banned.

There were a lot of complaints in 2010 (Wobbles was in attendance) to Alex/other staff, not just a handful and unfortunately the amount that complained outweighed the amount that were fine with it. Basically what DM said. A lot of the "drama" isn't brought to public or during the event itself, but rather to the TO's in charge of the event so it's hard to gauge reactions if you aren't in that position. I remember Wobbles having a conversation with Alex in particular about his decision to make Wobbling legal (during Apex) and Wobbles said that he respected his decision either way and if he wasn't having to use the move then he won't complain in trying to win the match with other tactics.

I just really don't understand that mentality. If the majority of people wanted Falco banned in melee for the tournament would you ban him, knowing full well it would be unfair? Wobbling has never proven to be broken at any tournament, and many tournaments IC players place higher when wobbling is banned.

You guys have the ability to think and make decisions for yourself, listening to people because they dislike something(not because it's unfair) is silly. Do you guys as the staff think wobbling is broken?

Not having it on has little effect on but a handful of players who should be able to win without it. Even Wobbles himself tries not to use it.

So, making Hylian and possibly 2~ other people happy, regardless to the fact that you're all attending anyway sort of doesn't put our backs at any walls.

what we think isn't important. What the community/stream monsters think is important. And yeah, if I had 2000 people ask to ban Falco at my events, I'd be 100% in compliance. Any host who ignores the VAST majority is not only a bad host, and plainly put: an idiot.

I mean I'm attending but I'm not going to enter melee if wobbling is banned, but eh fine then. It's not like I'm going to not make an attempt to get it unbanned as I think it's extremely unfair to ban wobbling.

Can I suggest having a poll for it? You would know the majority for sure on that point, because from my experiences people that want it legal don't speak out as much.

The rules have already been posted. Posting a poll at this point is moot, because like I said, we've already been contacted by a lot of people asking.

Dmbrandon already responded, but it's not something hard to understand, and calling it "silly" is seriously undermining the goal TOs put forth here.

TO's typically prefer to have big events that cater to large groups of players. I'm pretty sure you understand that much (that more players = bigger events = more hype = better tournament quality. It's more complicated than that, but you get the gist of it). Catering to the masses in this case is a MUST if you wish, as a TO, to garner enough attention to your events.

In that case, if they choose to alter some rules here or there that would assure them a higher volume of players, they are completely justified in changing practically whatever the heck they wish. I'm pretty sure most TOs would agree that they are obligated to make the biggest, greatest, best experience for everyone who attends their events, and doing the above is just one of those necessary choices that need to happen.

Though I wouldn't necessarily call a TO who doesn't shoot for large player numbers an idiot. If the goal for that type of TO is a small, tame event, then they're showing how good of a host they are for managing to scale a tournament down so well.

Large player numbers =/= hype. Sure, Apex is huge, but it's the work we put into it as a whole that allows us to succeed. Global rulesets, HD streams, Sponsor booths, side events, other games, etc.

Every decision we make is based off of what will build the most hype overall.

So, when a tournament host does something against the expressed consent of the community, then yeah... He's kind of automatically an idiot.

Edit: This is why when Juice wanted to try a new ruleset, we ran an invitational. We didn't mess with the tournaments people care about.

There is no reason for you guys to be defensive lol. I should have noted this earlier, but I wasn't coming until I recently got free plane tickets. I didn't honestly think I could get you to change the rules, but of course I'm going to try. I'm not demeaning anyone I'm just pressing the issue till I'm satisfied there is nothing I can suggest to change your minds or open a poll. Next time I will try to argue the issue earlier before people register.

I'm not being defensive, at all. I'm rationally explaining why what you're asking for isn't a viable option presently. If anything, the defense is coming from you, considering you're fighting a battle that

  1. Has already been decided
  2. Has an effect on less than .1% of the community

It's a silly thing to even consider at this point. International players have confirmed their tickets. No rules will be changed unless something drastic occurs.

This is ******** logic. It doesn't matter how many people contacted you saying they want it banned if the majority is ok with it being legal.

A poll should be conducted to see if the majority if ok with wobbling being banned. It just sounds like YOU want wobbling banned and that's why you're against it.

@Hylian: Contact Alex Strife, and if he's ok with it then you should make a poll about it.

So... Alex, I'm no long teaming with Shaky. I'm teaming with Seibrik now. Any chance you can fix that?

Also, I think Colbol might have signed up for the wrong game. :3

You should look up the word ********. It might surprise you.

Moving on, I personally have absolutely no claim or stake in whether or not it is banned or not. I'm not entering anything, and even if I were to enter melee, my third best are ICs. XD

Edit: You also failed to quote the section where I quite clearly state that no rules are going to be changed, as players from overseas have already confirmed travel. Unless something entirely catastrophic occurs to the metagame (Game breaking glitches, or effects.) nothing will be altered.

PM Bionic with this info. He's the one to talk to.

You should really invest time into knowing your target audience before making such outlandish claims.
