IMO SwSh isn't Sonic 06 bad, but it isn't anywhere near a high point for the series either - a solid attempt given the circumstances (budget being spent on Post Malone concerts, yearly deadlines, corporate mandates, a general lack of interest in Pokémon within Game Freak, first true HD game after working with underpowered handheld hardware for 2 decades) but they can do better. A lot of the criticisms are justifiable - especially when it comes to story writing, PR, and business models - but tend to get drowned out by asinine complaints about low poly trees, reused animations, and the National Dex.
