Everyone talks about how heavy and radical the leftist political themes of Mother 3 are, but let's not forget that Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland is about how capitalism is slavery. It's not subtle or even an allegory of any kind, the plot of the game is literally just "capitalism is slavery."

Reminder in the midst of E3 hype: game companies owe you a quality product, nothing more, nothing less. Microsoft does not owe you Banjo-Threeie, Nintendo does not owe you F-Zero DX, Sony does not owe you Jak and Daxter 5, and frankly if they did, the aforementioned series would be worse off for it. Nobody wants to make or play a game solely produced out of obligation.

Smash speculators explaining how the 7 lines of dialogue said by Prince Dreambert in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team left a bigger impact on the gaming industry than Quake, PaRappa the Rapper, Shadow of the Colossus, and the entire Grand Theft Auto series combined.

Not that I'm the sort of person to choose Smash characters based on importance/relevence, but saying pretty much any 1st party Nintendo character not already in the game (except maybe Waluigi and Tingle, but that assesment may be biased as I'm a fan of both) is important at all, let alone more so than someone like Hero or Sephiroth, is a bit fat lie.

I spent so much of my childhood surrounded by internet nostalgia culture that I'm more 80s/90s kid than I am 2000s/2010s kid, and TBH I'm a little glad for it. Anemoia is something I consider to be almost a core of my identity, which sounds a little pathetic when I say it out loud, but thinking about the past while watching or playing something from it just makes me happy.

Creating utterly nonsense scenarios like setting up an all-CPU Smash battle to show a rowdy bunch of 90s console war teenagers what characters of the time will be up to in the future through time travel, or watching Rugrats or Animaniacs and pretending to be a 10 year old raised on He-Man and Thundercats getting his mind blown by seeing quality animation on TV for the first time, it just feels good.

Not very likely as it's not an upbeat song, but Smash has livened up sad songs before and it wouldn't be surprising to hear it quoted in passing.

This meme is funny to me because it's supposed to show why Origins' portrayal of Red is better than Ash, when all it really shows is that, if the meme is to be believed, Red is objectively a really poorly written character. I haven't seen Origins so I can't say if this is true or not but it is a REAL bad first impression.
