Firstly, more people were upset in the start of the year where the only games Nintendo had were Xenoblade, Animal Crossing and Paper Mario. Nobody knew about those other games. A lot of games were probably delayed behind closed doors so it’s not exactly reasonable to be upset, but it was reasonable to be upset by the lack of communication.
And don’t forget there was literally a period where we weren’t waiting for any Nintendo games whatsoever. None were announced and coming out, although Pikmin 3 broke this drought
And then look at the games, three are ports or collections, and basically every game on that list except maybe Paper Mario has very similar gameplay to a game that already exists. (There’s also jumprope challenge but that doesn’t count) We basically got practically no new gameplay experiences from Nintendo this year. And Nintendo is known for constantly giving us new gameplay experiences.
So I don’t think the reactions were all reasonable, but it for sure was not a great year for Nintendo
