  • truth be told I would never call the cops on someone no matter how bad knowing how screwed up my country's prison system is.

Once a cop gave this super lengthy description of prison (UK doesn't have jails, only prisons) to me, including the food, and I mentioned that I'm an extremely picky eater and as such they would need to provide correct food for my safety, and you know what he did? That a-hole told me he wouldn't mind if I starved to death.

Plus, when I was younger I did call the cops on my mother for kicking me in the torso - and nothing happened, the police visited, but my mum wasn't punished, and all that happened was me constantly being shamed over the course of what was supposed to a fun holiday a few weeks later.
It's surprising 3D arena platform fighters (like Power Stone) have never took off competitively. The only one I can think of that's really ever had an active scene is Shrek Super Slam, which began as a joke anyway (through it has evolved since then, I've heard the SSS community Discord is pretty active)
Q*Bert is a strange character from a copyright perspective as he's owned by Sony - but their movie division, not their game division. Now I wonder... would it be possible for Q*Bert to appear in Smash in any form? I believe Sakurai said one of his reasons (but not his main reason) for excluding non-game characters is because of the difficulty of working with companies from different industries, so say if Sakurai REALLY wanted to add Q*Bert, would working with Sony Pictures be a driving force for him not making the cut?

I’m pretty certain that, if Sakurai really wants (X character) in Smash, he’ll do everything in his power to make it happen-even if it involves working with (Y company). Sony Pictures may not want Q*Bert in Smash-but if they do, and Sakurai wants him, I’m certain Sakurai and Nintendo will do everything in their power to make it work out.
I'm not saying it's wrong to be disappointed about Isaac's absence from the playable roster, but god damn Golden Sun fans have it lucky in Ultimate - an AT, two songs, 7 (technically 8) Spirits, a Mii costume... fans of other AT characters would kill for that kind of attention, it's pretty impressive for what is basically a D-tier Nintendo franchise in terms of popularity.
    >3DS/Wii U tournament event is called "Free Four All"

Damn, even Nintendo's localisation team have fallen for the "4th instalment" lie.
Legit question - are the rappers OK? Almost all of them have delusions of grandeur, Kanye West is an anti-vaxxer who thinks he can be president, Soulja Boy thought he could be the next big gaming sensation with a dubiously legal Famiclone, and worst of all: Childish Gambino thought it'd be good for his image to appear in the Lion King remake!
It's strange to me that being petrified is often used as a family friendly substitute for death - petrification is much more terrifying.
Hopefully I'll be getting a limited import copy of Space Invaders Invincible Collection, through I don't know for certain at this point.
Why don't retro-inspired modern games use a 4:3 aspect ratio? I like a lot of these games and get they're not trying to be exact replicas of the time period, but seeing pixelated graphics in 16:9 just hurts my soul.
Paula would be a perfect echo fighter considering that she's the same height as Ness and all his moves are lifted from her. I imagine the only reason they didn't include her in Ultimate is either 1. they didn't think of it, or 2. they didn't want to seek out a new VA for her, since she's never been voiced.
Depending on how their moveset is done, you could make Kamek and Ashley echo fighters - the real question is who would be listed as the base fighter and who would be the echo fighter - on one hand Ashley is more popular, but on the other Kamek is more important to his series.
When you think about it, the Bakugan incident was kind of a miracle in disguise - if not for it people would be looking at the Mini Direct announcement and expecting Persona 5, Crash 4 and stuff like that.
If they do another "who's gonna get the invite?" trailer, I hope one of the characters is depicted politely declining the invitation or kindly giving it back to the first person to pick up the invite, that'd be cute.
if PaRappa got in Smash, I hope they'd be as devoted to Rodney's aesthetic as they were to the P5 aesthetic with Joker. Give him a unique victory screen with the character tiled borders from PaRappa 1 for example.
I used to really trust PapaGenos but honestly he's getting way too tinfoil hat for me, the moment that broke the camel's back for me was when he said that Japanese Nintendo revealing Smash invitation stationary while American Nintendo released a Paper Mario ad that involves an invitation "isn't a coincidence".
I'm gonna be hung from the gallows for saying this, but I love Activision, at least as a Crash fan with no experience of Acti's other properties. They have a feedback forum, they are willing to listen to fan demand while also making the games distinctly theirs, they don't go overboard with the MTX, they understand the fans and their in-jokes, and they're willing to bring back even the most obscure of characters. Nintendo should be taking notes for how they handle Mario in future. Imagine a Mario Kart with monthly free updates for a whole year, who wouldn't want that?

I think it all comes down to cultural differences. While Nintendo don't want their fans to be alienated from unfamiliarity and simply remain in the comfort zone (at least until a shake-up occurs, from within the company or elsewhere), some of Acti's dev companies just happen to be big fans of Crash that want to do as much with the property as possible (at least within the five-year plan).

The animosity is mostly from the COD side and whatever Blizzard has been doing the last couple of years.
If/when they make more Classic Sonic games I really hope they get TJ Davis to make new vocal songs, 90s house fits Classic Sonic just as well as hard rock fits Modern Sonic.

Makes sense given Mania's reception and success. What Sega really needs to do now though is separate 2D from 3D and let it stand on it's own without needing to try to appeal to Classic Sonic nostalgia to get people to buy.

Well, nothing has been happening since Team Racing, doing something would be a start.

Apart from comic characters finally showing up in a mobile game, anyways.
The "Something about World of Light" video has 27M views but is filled with tons of in-jokes - like, what percentage of this video's viewerbase knows why there's a mashup of a Swedish guy shouting "grand dad!", Gangnam Style, and an idol anime song?
One thing I don't exactly get about the whole "we can't modify Mario characters" thing is that a few of the paper partners were completely original creations with basically no ties to existing Mario characters - do you remember seeing any purple-skinned one-legged witches or Rubenesque wind ghosts in a canon Mario game? why not just create more new species?

Or why not just have old partners return? It’s not like this would mess up any continuity or anything

I guess that even regular original 2D characters don't cut it anymore (or they pretend that those don't exist, due to association) apart from the requisite tagalong character tied to the game's gimmick. It seems that characters that are either fully in 3D or straight-up objects get used as a loophole.

Yes, that means we could fight crumbled-up paper balls and dust bins in the future.
So yeah, seems I was right and they pulled a Cars 3 with Origami King, but it's still a good game from what I've heard so who cares?

    "[pull a] Cars 3"
Using an out of context scene in promotional material to make a work of media appear darker or more suspenseful, Antonym of "[pull a] Kangaroo Jack".
Can you imagine a world where Diddy's name is actually "Diet DK"? Imagine the Smash announcer's booming voice proclaiming "DIET DK!", imagine the colourful menus of the Mario spin-offs projecting "Diet DK" in a family-friendly, bouncy font, imagine a game called "Diet DK Racing" or "Diet's Kong Quest"
I think the GenoStop leak is just the same case as that Nintendo of Spain (I think) representative saying Rayman would be in 3DS/Wii U when he just meant the trophy, mostly because they're speaking in past tense and not specifically about a playable fighter - plus do you REALLY expect GameStop to be in on the know about unrevealed game content, especially DIGITAL content?
My predictions for the next direct are:
National Dex. Want level 0, expectation level 80
Waluigi in Smash. Want level 100, expectation level 60
Mario remakes. Want level 50, expectation level 99.9
New NSO emulator. Want level 90, expectation level 50
Mario Kart 9. Want level 10, expectation level 70
The thing about the Mario World TV show is that when you get older you understand the social commentary and references in it, but instead of explaining everything, that only makes it even more nonsensical.
