  • Jojo references are just the modern day equivalent to Star Wars references.

Imagine if they did an officially licensed Jojo/Family Guy crossover, like the Star Wars ones beforehand...
Nintendo should release a peripheral that lets you copy the contents of old game cartridges and discs onto the Switch.

Why would it need to be a peripheral? Doesn't it already have a game cartridge slot? I imagine it'd just be a software update for the Switch to add the feature.

I mean cartridges and discs for old consoles, should've specified, sorry.

Well, discs don't have save data on them. So to do that properly you'd need a slot for like, gamecube memory cards. And I'm not sure to what end it'd be valuable to do it for game cartridges, the save data format for them would change a lot even if for example those games were released on the eShop, and especially so if there were a proper remake for any game.
I can't be the only person who really dislikes the graphics in the original PS1 Spyro games, right? it's like if you taught Jim Henson's zombified corpse to make video games but didn't re-teach him how to use his hands properly.

I'm not much of a big fan of the original PS1 Spyro graphics either and this is coming from the mouth of a big N64 fan who adores early poly graphics. I like the designs in the Reignited Trilogy much more.

For their time, they were good, but clearly haven't held up especially compared to the original NG Crash Bandicoot games. Didn't help that the third game was rushed.
There is actually licensed game rep in Smash already. Everyone knows Mario 2 was based on Doki Doki Panic, but not as many people know Doki Doki Panic was a game made to promote an event showcasing new TV shows. Basically it was an advert for an advert.

If memory serves there MIGHT be another case or two of this in addition to that. But the main reason people bring up this licensed game stuff in the first place is to push for or deny characters like Goku.

None of the examples of licensed game content in Smash are anywhere near enough to boost the chances of characters like that.

Yeah, I more mentioned this because I like hyper-obscure trivia.

Actually, I think I know what the other example is: Mahvel. Referenced in Ryu's Palutena's Guidance, as well as some more subtle references in Ken and Mega Man's movesets.

Some days, minor licensed content gets associated so much with games that it completely stops being licensed content and becomes game-original. This is essentially how two of Hudson Soft's mascots were created.

And yet no one has brought back Hyper Mega Man or Hyper Roll to this day. Maybe Toei would have sued somebody, since those forms are based on Great Mazinger mechs.
I just added The Halloween Hack to SSBWiki's list of "dependent universes" due to Megalovania's inclusion as a music track - and now I realised that if the Battle Tower theme gets in Smash in some form I'll have to add a line about Homestuck mpreg to that list.
If you ask me the best choice to make a Mario movie would've been Aardman - they work wonders with silent characters and Mario characters aren't particularly known for their diction. Plus most Mario characters (sans the princesses) already look quite like Aardman characters as is with their big noses and ears - it'd be pretty cute to see the princesses temporarily redesigned in a style closer to Mario and Luigi. Aardman's British flair could also bring Mario back to his Wonderlandian roots.

As long as it's not something like the LEGO Mario series that only really shows the more merchandisable side of the Mario series, I'm fine. I want actual references to the roots of the Mario series, and to every side of the franchises, something more like what the Mario mash-up pack in Minecraft does. Story beats taken from the RPG's would also be great and refreshing to see.

Nah, the latter never stopped complaining about online (although this time it's specifically "buff up offline coin rates").

Meanwhile I'm just sitting here and wondering what all of Activision's devs are up to. Besides Tony Hawk.

Tony Hawk Games still exist? THought that series died after the 3ds....

I figured Activision is just sitting there trying to think of how to half-ass and botch the next wow expansion.
I wonder why they didn't bring back Banjo for Diddy Kong Racing DS... I understand the lack of Conker, that should go without saying, but wouldn't it have made sense to include Banjo to promote Nuts and Bolts?
I think I've found the biggest anomaly on YouTube, I literally cannot find any context for this. Like, it actually sounds like Tom Kenny is singing a song loosely related to Obama's victory in 2008. It was uploaded that same year, long before people on the internet would've found "SpongeBob singing about Obama" funny so I doubt it's a really talented impressionist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HElMajr2KaE
I tried to post a fake leak to 4Chan to test if I can get on Blocked Content or LaxChris (and possibly get people to take the idea of Space Invader in Smash seriously), but incognito mode is apparently blocked on there.

The fake leak was going to be among the lines of

"Lola Pop, Lara Croft and Space Invader are in. I have heard, but not seen, Monokuma

Lara Croft uses a de-sexualised version of her original design.

a Villains spirit board event featuring Pokey is planned

a Pokemon Masters spirit board event featuring human spirits is planned."
The so-called "scary part" in A Hat in Time (Queen Vanessa's Mansion) isn't really that scary. I was expecting it to be the sort of horror that would bump up the age rating, but no, not really.
I watched a video critiquing Mr. Enter's Nick-O-Rama series, and now I'm being recommended a rantsona video called "Mr. Enter's TERRIBLE Take on Healthcare!" - which is just a really surreal combination of words.
I feel Nintendo removing fangames is doing nothing more than leaving their fans vulnerable to malware.

It makes sense for them to remove fangames that are remakes of their games available for free, obviously that's piracy. And the controversy where they removed a Kirby reanimated colab - yeah that's an entire episode of a show available for free. When it comes to copyright, people don't have as many rights as they think they do
    LAA9000

I remember Kirby Reanimated tweeted out that they got the collab back up and it was actually taken down by someone pretending to be Nintendo. I also remember Kaze Emanuar made a video claiming he found someone pretending to be from Nintendo taking down his hacks, so there may be a connection.
Sadly, everyone ignored those because the internet pretty much runs on negativity and drama as that's how people get clout.

Pokemon Uranium is probably the only one I remember that was perfectly fine as it was.
The person who created Brawl Taunts almost got to voice Byleth in Smash. Do you believe in karma? no, not karma for the abuse allegations, karma for creating those wretched animations.
    Shroob
    Shroob
For the abuse allegations yes. For the animations, no.

The animations are just a product of their time, they're like a snapshot of early internet humor. Sure, they've aged like old gym socks, but, so have a lot of old internet memes. They're basically something you look at and say "The hell? I found this funny as a kid?"

Eh, it was just a dumb joke. Didn't mean it seriously.
I'm not even that big a supporter but I never got why Steve is treated as a "meme character" in Smash speculation.

Wario Wario Wario Wario Wario Wario Bowser Jr. got into Smash before Logan really hit it big in the subscriber count. Though you do have a point. People like SMG4 though have help spread the meme potential of these characters though.

I've never believed Nintendo adds newcomers based on what would make more sense "marketing wise" but Steve in Smash would practically be perfect if we're thinking like that. So it's ridiculous to dismiss his supporters as "doing it for the memes." Another reason they should add him is because late 2000s and early 2010s nostalgia is a topic barely covered in the gaming industry let alone the Smash roster.

I always wondered how Wario does have so many friends in the WarioWare games. They even show some aprecciation of him in WarioWare Gold!

Nintendo are always inconsistent on how bad a guy Wario is - I prefer the Ware depiction of him as a lovable jerk personally.
I do wonder why male and female human Mario characters have such different body shapes - my personal headcanon is that they're two different species all together and there are big nosed girls and long legged boys out there in the Marioverse, somewhere.
Even as somebody who grew up with them, I have no clue why people hold the Drawn to Life games in such high regard. They're just alright customisable platformers with a super-weird ending - not "the greatest game series of all time".

    I have to agree.

They are nicely programmed games and they can be fun, but I feel people overhype them.

And I played the whole series, even the SpongeBob spin-off.
