I posted my DK moon post in a bit of a snarky tone, but it really does baffle me how internet people cannot comprehend the concept of cartoon timelines. No, there are not 2 moons on Mario's version of Earth, you are just looking at two distinct, independently created stories using the same characters that were not designed with one another in mind. This is the perfect of example of why a franchise like Mario following a canon would be bad - it's fun to run on the moon, and it's fun to punch out the moon, you shouldn't be stopped from doing the prior just because it would contradict the scale established by the latter. Suggesting the moon DK punched out is a "dwarf moon" just drains the fun and silliness of the original scene by not making it "the The Moon", and you could also argue that that negatively effects Odyssey's depiction of the moon too.
TBH, even when correctly balanced like in NASB2, super moves don't really interest me, they can be fun and creative, but I feel they just lack the same punch, as a player; viewer; and opponent, that exists when combos are taking stocks. I'm 100% sure this is different for traditional fighters, and they're a great mechanic casually, but I dunno, I much prefer a more accessible combo system. Ironically, NASB2 makes combos very accessible, perhaps even more so than NASB1 - I barely play that game, but whenever I do, I can always pull off some nasty Donnie combos, so to me, I only really want to use super moves if I especially like them (Rocko's super move for example), and when I do use them, it's just not as statisfying as stringing together Donnie's slime magnet balls into a back air then a light up air.

I find it funny how the Bubsy compilation trailer using Gex music technically means there's a Gex/Bubsy crossover - in the same way there's a Spyro/Amanda Show crossover, but still.
One mentality I have when judging games is that marketing; playercounts; and price points don't really matter - the majority of time spent playing almost every game ever is going to eventually be in a cheap-and-easy-to-emulate zip of ROMs, discovered solely through liking the name when scrolling alphabetically, where that context becomes lost. I wouldn't take points away from a Mario Paint review because it was sold for £60, nor would I take points away from an OOT review because the ads were kinda misogynistic, so I don't really see why I should hold price points and marketing towards or against modern games 9 times out of 10 - I can certainly agree with touching on those in a review (I have done this a few times on my Backloggd reviews, particularly SSBU and Mario Clock) and I strongly support seeking out context for vintage media's origins, but not informing the final takeaway and score or an overall opinion.
The one, single good thing I can say about how much needless emphasis Smash gives to its newcomers is that it makes imagining comedic/lighthearted character picks a lot more fun. I'm a very strong supporter of having 5 seperate Tetrominos in Smash, and while character trailers are a burden to that idea, and playable Tetris rep in general IMO, it is really funny to imagine someone slowly realising "Oh god, they're doing all of them, aren't they?" as a trailer goes on - though in practice I have a feeling it would be a lot less fun, the amount of emotional attachment Smash trains fans to have to the roster would probably cause 5/7 Tetrominos to have legitimate negative impacts upon people's mental health... God, I hate Smash marketing.
I've never been the biggest fan of cartoonish games using detailed textures (though I do really like the aesthetics of the Crash remakes), but that being said, I really love how with each Waluigi appearance his outfit seems to become lower and lower quality compared to Mario and Luigi - he's not even wearing overalls anymore, just a gross... plastic... thing? with fake suspenders
I'm playing the Llamasoft compilation, and man, this is the perfect antidote to all the crappy Sakurai videos I was watching yesterday - not jiving with the games themselves much (which isn't what I bought it for anyway) but god Minter is such a hero. I'm not saying Sakurai and Minter should be compared, they're doing different things in different places for different audiences, but there's such a pleasant whiplash in going from watching a supposed "visionary" say "I only make games because it's the job I'm good at" to reading up on a hippie who just loves camels; drug trip aesthetics; and spaceships, and makes games to self-endulge in those passions.
I don't get the criticism of Sonic games as "press right/up to win"... that is literally every platformer.
I don't get what it is specifically about Nintendo fandom that evokes wisfulness for alternate timelines. With every other fandom it feels like people express what they want as "do this now" - like, "Can we have Shadow in Sonic games again?", not "If only Shadow was in Sonic Colours", but with Nintendo fans they tend to express it as "Go back to 2003 and do that then" if that makes sense?
"What if Nintendo bought Rare?" "What if Meowth was in Smash 64 instead of Jigglypuff?" "What if Mother 1 was localised in the 80s?" "What if K. Rool was in DKC Returns?"
I've been reading up on that new MeTV Toons channel (even though it's not in my country) and there's a very strange trend within the hype cycle for the channel where some people are upset that it's not going to air toy and cereal commercials for some reason???

I have seen some people saying the new Bubsy voice doesn't really sound like him, and I do agree, it's a pretty poor direction for a bombastic and wacky character, but I also get what they're going for - it's a take on the CEOTFK voice, but most people associate Bubsy with either the reboot or cartoon/2/FFT voice - that being said, this trailer did get the Bubsy vibe better than the reboot games did, making him the butt of the joke in the Donald/Daffy Duck sense and not the Scrappy-Doo sense.
As I get older and less cynical, I feel like I've really come to appreciate "power of friendship" and other such "conveniences" as storytelling devices.

I had a nightmare where there was a neo-fascist group with an X for a logo (albeit with an accent), and they nuked Twitter HQ (which was in Skovde, Sweden for some reason) for trademark infringement, and caught Dr. Amigo in the crossfire, turning Skovde into the Skovde stage from Slap City - Dr. Amigo getting nuked was such a tragedy that every TV channel in the UK was taken off of the air permanently out of respect. It was actually moreso a sad nightmare than a scary one.
