The Home on the Range off-tune yodeling villain song and Pickle & Peanut opening theme have competition for the title of "Worst Disney Song". (Fantasia for Mega Drive doesn't count, that was only Disney-licensed by technicality)

The fake scanline on VGFacts banners usually looks really good - it looks fine with retro screenshots, modern screenshots, retro promo art, modern promo art, crusty JPEGs of retro promo art, crusty JPEGs of modern promo art, crusty JPEGs of modern screenshots... the only exception of crusty JPEGs of retro screenshots.

A long, long time ago, when I was a little kid infact, I saw a really cute homemade Toy Story fan movie from the really early 2000s, made by some parents for their kids, on YouTube, uploaded under the title of "The ORIGINAL Toy Story 3!" or something like that - and half-way through, it turned into a Wallace & Gromit crossover (think the MLP fanfilm that had the Powerpuff Girls show up in the middle). I thought the crossover was kinda weird at the time, but in hindsight, that makes a lot of sense?? Like, I think the mentality was just "My kids like these characters, and my kids like these characters, let's have them meet" and nothing else (I don't remember the video well enough and can't find it to say if W&G were actually toys in the plot), but honestly it would just make sense for Woody and Buzz to just randomly meet a claymation "actor" and mistake them for a fellow toy. Plus, I think this was made around the time of the Wallace & Gromit taxi incident, which is basically just a setup for a Toy Story movie as is.

As much as I love classic single screen platformers, and dislike genres being seen as "This is the good one, the rest are the bad ones", I will say that it's insane how much better Bubble Bobble holds up compared to other platformers from the same year like Mappy and non-super Mario Bros. (both of which are great games mind you) - advanced techniques that the level design is built around, references to older games, multiple power ups and beneficial level elements, post-game content, probably-accidental lore bait, a ridiculous length - a few of these things even games like Annalynn and Antonball don't have - if BB came out today as an indie, even with its rough patches and 80s-isms like the weird ending requirements and 3-song-soundtrack intact, it would've gone viral, or at least amassed just as passionate a fandom as it got in the 80s.

Continuing from that freedom fries post, I feel that - while 9/11 was indeed a tragedy and people affected by it should be allowed to mourn in peace - now that I'm older and have done research on the political climate that came out of it, as well as the reasons we've been conditioned to remember it more than other tragedies where many, many more people died (those reasons being well... patriotism, Islamophobia, and military expansion), I don't really feel too bad satirizing it. Not saying you should just post memes on mourning Twitter threads or whatever, that's a **** move, but there's absolutely a lot of bad and ridiculous stuff America did at the time that victimhood can't justify, and it's worth questioning why so much emphasis and such a "sacred" image is put on the WTC compared to pandemics, oil spills, wars, and hurricanes of a similar caliber

Enchanted Portals looks like a slightly-above-average game based on a game that's whole concept was just two pre-existing concepts mashed together (like most post-medieval art) anyway, I have no clue why people are so pissed off. EP doesn't even look that rubberhose to me, the aesthetic reminds me a lot more of Disney shorts than Fleischer.

It may not be DKCR3, but Mario vs. DK is a great outcome for all this DK speculation. I've been craving a good Lemmings-like on Switch for ages if it's another minis escort game, and if it isn't then it's a single-screen platformer, which has been in very low supply since... the first half of the 80s.

I think a lot of people who complain about Smash "warping perspectives of characters" don't realize that most people who think Wario is supposed to be a Garbage Pail Kid pastiche or Ganondorf is supposed a boxer still like them anyway, sometimes for that very reason.

I've also seen people say that Smash made Diddy Kong look like "Just a cliche mischievous cartoon monkey" or something to that extent... as someone who considers DKC2 a top 10, possibly 5 game of all time, and had a pretty long-lasting DK hyperfixation at one point, that is literally Diddy Kong's canon personality, and always was. Not even a localisation thing like Wario misconceptions since DKC was originally made in English. Somebody saw one manual line about Diddy "wanting to be as big a star as DK", then saw he got his own game, and made up an entire arc in their head.

That being said, the new Ginger voice is REALLY off. Makes me dislike the recast even more than when I first heard about it. That being said, the new Rocky is seamless, and infinitely more justified BTS.
