My take on the wizard game situation - as a cis guy mind you, so take it with a bit of salt:
Playing or even legally buying the wizard game isn't inherently immoral, boycotts don't work, we all know this - however, it is a HUGE red flag - not for the act of purchasing the game alone, but the culture surrounding it and the Harry Potter franchise. While not all remaining Potterheads are raging transphobes, the franchise (and especially this specific instalment) has gained somewhat of a dog whistle status and you'd have to be living under a rock to not consider that openly engaging with the IP, especially online, will make a lot of marginalised people (and not just trans people) feel unsafe around you.
